Game Overview
Slot provider Red Tiger Gaming isn’t usually renowned for coming up with its own mechanics, at least not on the same level as developers such as Big Time Gaming and Yggdrasil. However, the studio does have one to its name, and that’s the Clusterbuster mechanic, which is essentially a bunch of locked tiles in the middle of a gaming grid that, once removed, unlock different reel modifiers. Egypt Clusterbuster is the fifth RTG slot to utilise that mechanic, and it is a 9×9 cluster pays slot with a 95.71% RTP and a 6,656x the stake maximum win.
On Egypt Clusterbuster, each time those Clusterbuster tiles are removed, a new modifier is unlocked. It will trigger on the next spin and can trigger randomly on future spins. Each of those modifiers is a 3×3-sized symbol of some sort, one which appears as the same regular symbol, another that is a wild symbol, a third that is wild and also breaks up into 9 smaller wilds, and a fourth that does similar to the third but also has multiplier values of up to 10x the stake attached to those wilds. Once all modifiers are unlocked, clearing the Clusterbuster triggers a free spins bonus game on reels without the 3×3 Clusterbuster.

Theme, stakes, pays & symbols
Clearly, the Clusterbuster mechanic is proving quite popular for Red Tiger Gaming, as I make Egypt Clusterbuster the fifth slot in the series to date. Personally, I find them all quite similar, but I can see why players enjoy them. The longer you play, the better the modifiers you can unlock. If you’re new to RTG’s clusterbusters, check out Good Luck Clusterbuster, the first in the series, as it offers a 20,000x the stake maximum win, which is more than three times what you can land on this slot. Another popular title is Dragon’s Clusterbuster, which is more of the same but has a magical theme – if that’s something you’re into.
Moving onto the paytable of this slot, the Lotus Flower, with its 50x the stake return for 20+ symbols in a cluster, is the top payout you can land. That’s followed by the Eye of Horus, which pays up to 25x, the Scroll worth 15x, and the Ankh, which has a top return of 10x. The playing card symbols deliver the smaller payouts, with the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten paying up to 5x, 4x, 4x, 3.5x, and 3x, respectively. Wild symbols do not have a payout attributed to them, but they help create winning combinations by substituting for all regular symbols.
RTG has used a small betting range for Egypt Clusterbuster, as the minimum and maximum spins bets supported are €0.10 and €10.00, respectively.
Base Game & Modifiers
The first thing you’ll see when you load up the Egypt Clusterbuster slot is a huge 9×9 playing grid. The idea is to land clusters of 5 or more symbols connected vertically or horizontally, and when that happens, you’re paid, and those symbols are removed from the reels. New symbols fall into the vacated positions on the reels, which can create further wins and cascades.
Ancient Orbs & The Clusterbuster
There are four modifiers that can trigger randomly on any spin. However, at the start, only the first is unlocked. The rest unlock as you clear the tiles of the 3×3 Clusterbuster in the centre of the grid. The adjacent tiles are removed each time a winning combination occurs next to the Clusterbuster. Should you clear all tiles, the next Ancient Orb is released and collected above the reels. The modifier for that Orb will trigger on the next spin and is then unlocked and can trigger randomly on future spins.
- Green Orb: Once unlocked, random regular symbols can land sized 3×3. Up to three can appear on a single spin.
- Blue Orb: This unlocks 3×3-sized Blue Super Wilds that can appear randomly.
- Red Orb: This unlocks 3×3-sized Red Super Wilds that should they help create a win, will break up into 9 individual scarabs that land in random positions on the reels and become wild symbols.
- Purple Orb: Unlocking the Purple Orb allows 3×3 Super Wilds with multiplier values of between 2x and 10x to land on the reels randomly. If they’re involved in a winning combination, they break up into 9 scarabs that land in random positions. This time, each of those scarabs become wild symbols with the same multiplier value as the fully-sized symbol.
Egypt Clusterubster slot bonus features
Once all four orbs are unlocked, the next time the Clusterbuster is removed, it triggers the free spins bonus.
Free Spins Feature
You receive 10 free spins of the reels, which, this time, do not feature a Clusterbuster. During this bonus, there is an increased chance of triggering the four modifiers. Unfortunately, it is not possible to re-trigger the free spins bonus from within.
Bonus Buy
There are two bonus buy options to consider on Egypt Clusterbuster:
- For 20x the stake, you can purchase spins guaranteed to land a Super Wild.
- In return for 90x, you can purchase the free spins bonus game.
Pros
- Multiple modifiers, such as Super Wilds and multiplier wilds, keep the gameplay fresh.
- A monster 9x9 grid packed with action.
Cons
- The 6,656x the stake maximum win is small compared to some other Clusterbuster slots.
Egypt Clusterbuster Slot Review Final Thoughts
Egypt Clusterbuster is another good addition to Red Tiger Gaming’s Clusterbuster series of slots, which many players will surely enjoy. You'll have fun with the familiar gameplay of unlocking modifiers as you clear the central Clusterbuster, adding layers of excitement with each new feature. However, the relatively low RTP and a cap on the maximum win might not satisfy those looking for bigger payouts. Still, if you enjoy progressive unlocking mechanics and Egyptian themes, Egypt Clusterbuster delivers just enough thrills to keep you spinning.
