Game Overview
I think we all have similar thoughts about what hell would look like, and I, for one, hope I never find out if mine is correct. After a first look at the latest slot I’m about to review, I have to say that Peter & Son’s interpretation of hell is probably the wackiest I’ve ever seen. Honestly, I wouldn’t expect anything else, judging by the developer’s form for the unusual and its unique artistic style. I won’t spoil it for you, but I’m pretty sure you’ll agree that no other slot has portrayed Satan’s home quite like it is on Evil Devil, a 6 reel slot with up to 117,649 ways to win, a 96.1% RTP and a 10,000x the stake maximum win.
The gameplay mainly focuses on a Sticky Re-Spins feature that triggers after every win. Essentially, you continue to receive spins as long as the combo is improved. That feature also plays its part in a free spins bonus, offering Power Splits that cause random winning symbols to turn into wilds. Skull symbols during that feature will also increase a win multiplier that applies to wins on the current spin.
They say the devil’s work is never done, and I guess this slot is evidence of that. You can check it out for free via the Evil Devil slot demo below.
Evil Devil slot theme, stakes, pays & symbols
Is it a coincidence that this slot has been released with Halloween just around the corner? I doubt it, as three out of the last slots I’ve reviewed have had a horror/Halloween theme, so it appears developers seem to be getting their spooky releases in early this year. Of those, the one to beat is Hacksaw Gaming’s Evil Eyes, a slot I had a great time playing and reviewing. It has a 5×5 playing grid and an Evil Eye symbol that can spread wins in any direction. It also boasts some entertaining bonus features, so it’s one to watch in this year’s batch of Halloween slots.
Over to the all-important pays section on Evil Devil now, and I must say the payouts are pretty disappointing. The top paying symbol is an Orange creature that returns 1.25x the stake for a 6-symbol combination. The Red and Purple creatures both share a 1x return, and the Blue, Grey, and Green monstrosities pay up to 0.75x. The Star, Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, and Clubs are the low pays, and each has a maximum win value of 0.20x.
There is a fairly standard staking range supported on Evil Devil, with the minimum spin bet allowed being €0.20 per spin and the maximum being €100.00. There’s a good number of values to choose from between those, so all real-money players should be able to find a bet size that suits them.
Evil Devil slot base game
The main game has 6 reels that each can hold between 2 and 7 symbols, making it possible for up to 117,649 ways to win. All winning combinations require three or more matching symbols to appear on adjacent reels starting from the first reel.
Sticky Respins
After a winning combination is formed, the Sticky Re-Spin feature kicks into action. Those involved in the win remain in place while all other symbol positions receive a re-spin. If another symbol enhances the winning combo or a scatter symbol lands, another re-spin is awarded. This continues until a re-spin reveals neither of those things.
Evil Devil slot bonus features
The Evil Devil slot has a single bonus game, which is an entertaining free spins bonus. You can also purchase that bonus via the slot’s buy bonus feature. Let’s learn about all of these in the sections below.
Free Spins Feature
When 4, 5, or 6 scatter symbols land anywhere in view during the base game, you receive 12, 15, or 20 free spins, respectively. During this feature, Power Splits are possible on the first re-spin of the Sticky Re-Spin bonus whenever it triggers. Random symbols involved in the winning combo will split a random number of wild symbols. Furthermore, if three or more Skull symbols land, they’ll apply a random win multiplier to any win received from the spin.
Bonus Buy
You can purchase the above free spins bonus for 100x the current stake. That’s possible by clicking the Shopping Cart button to the left of the reels.
Pros
- The slot looks fantastic, although a tad creepy as well.
- Good max win of 10,000x.
Cons
- The symbol payouts on this slot are extremely low.
Evil Devil Slot Review Final Thoughts
Peter & Sons always delivers with regard to graphics and presentation, and the developer scores well for both on Evil Devil, too. As for the gameplay, this provides a good level of entertainment, but as I tend to find with most Peter & Sons slots, if you're not a big fan of the style they create the games in, you'll be quickly switching off from Evil Devil. However, for anyone else, it's a good choice in the spooky slot scene market, especially with Halloween just around the corner.
