Game Overview
There are a few collections of games that spring to mind when you think of an Egyptian theme, and Blueprint Gaming’s slots featuring the legendary deity Horus are certainly one of them. Today, we’re putting their Eye of Hours Megaways slot game under the microscope to see what it has to offer. An initial overview of this title reveals a 6-reel slot with up to 15,625 ways to win per spin, an RTP of 95.49%, and a maximum win of 10,000x the bet.
As the game’s name alludes to, the Megaways engine is present throughout, so you can expect to see stacks of symbols and the potential for winning over multiple ways whilst playing. Just like all of the other slot games in this franchise, the chance of hitting a substantial win comes via the free spins bonus, which is triggered if at least three of the scatter symbols hit simultaneously. During this round, each time a Horus Wild symbol hits, the lowest value symbol will be upgraded to the next symbol on the paytable, with the final outcome being that all reels are full of the Eye of Horus symbol.
It’s destination Egypt once again then my fellow slot travellers, so how about we head to the Valley of the Kings in our free Eye of Horus Megaways slot demo and excavate the latest tomb to be discovered and see what goodies it has for us to share? It’s ready to play below.
Eye Of Horus Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Okay, here’s a question on Egyptian slots for ten points. Who is the lead character in Play’n Go’s Book of Dead slot? That was an easy one, I know; it is, of course, Riche Wilde, but I don’t to get a reputation as an overzealous quiz master, do I? Back to Blueprint though, and whether you’re a diehard fan of the provider or just discovering them for the first time, their Horus franchise has achieved wonderful things in both land based and online casinos. If you’re yet to try out Eye of Horus Power 4 slots, I urge you to give that one a try; it’s a great game. As for the Megaways version we’re reviewing today, it’s about time we checked out what it can pay.
We’re over at the paytable, and from the top, we have the Eye of Horus as the most valuable symbol in the game, paying 2x the bet for a six of a kind win. Next is Anubis worth 4x, followed by the Winged Osiris at 2x, a Scarab Beetle at 1x, and the Ankhs and Flower Sticks bring up the rear, both sharing equal payouts of 0.8x for a completed line of six. Dropping down to the low pays, we have four royal symbols, with the Ace, King, Queen, and Jack all paying 0.4x for a winning combination of six.
Playing the Eye of Horus Megaways slot will cost you a minimum of €0.10 a spin, with the maximum bet on the slot game reaching €10 a play. You’ll find a good range of options between these values, and I was impressed there was so much choice from €1 and below, which is where most players will be staking from.
Eye Of Horus Megaways Slot Base Game
Gameplay on the Eye of the Horus Megaways slot is set over a 6×5 reel matrix, where players can experience up to 15,625 ways to win on any spin. As this is a Megaways slot game, you’ll need to land at least three matching symbols in any position on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel first for the corresponding win to be credited to your balance.
Horus Wild
The Horus Wild Symbol is only present on reels 2, 3, and 4. This will substitute for all other game symbols except the scatter, and when it lands on a reel, it will expand to cover the entire length.
Eye Of Horus Megaways Slot Bonus Features
For the free spin bonus on Eye of Horus Megaways to be activated, you will need to land 3 or more of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. This will award you with 12 free games to begin the bonus round. It’s notable that a 4, 5, or 6 scatter trigger will not provide you with more games at the start of your feature but will award you a bigger cash win.
Free Spins Feature
As the free spin bonus begins, you will notice a series of tablets in a meter at the top of the screen, representing the higher paying symbols from the paytable. The aim of the bonus round is to upgrade each tablet in order so that it eliminates a symbol from the reels. To upgrade the tablets, you will need a Horus Wild symbol to land on the reels. When this happens, Horus will expand the entire length of the reel, making it fully wild. At this stage, a beam of light will appear from Horus and upgrade the lowest paying symbol in the progression meter to the next one.
Horus will also reward you with re-triggers. The amount you will receive depends upon how many wild Horus symbols land on the reels; 1 symbol will award one upgrade and one additional spin, 2 symbols will award two upgrades and three extra spins, and 3 symbols will award three upgrades and 5 additional spins.
Pros
- The Horus franchise pulls off the Megaways upgrade with ease.
- A great maximum win of 10,000x bet.
Cons
- No bonus buy option.
- The RTP is below the industry average.
Eye Of Horus Megaways Slot Review
We were always fans of the original Eye of Horus slot, so when we discovered that it was to undergo a Megaways makeover, we got incredibly excited. It is more than capable of paying its jackpot too, so there is plenty of potential and excitement in the bonus round. Much like the original version, though, this Megaways remake loves to tease the death out of you with a great start, leaving you convinced that you will upgrade all the symbols and be in with a chance of a big hit. Horus then proceeds to disappear from the face of the reels and leave you agonisingly close to hitting something epic.
Overall, this is another great addition to a much-loved franchise and a slot game that continues to receive a high amount of play here on our platform. Make sure you give the demo a play and compare it to the other games in the series. Which will you think is the best?
