Eye Of Horus Rise Of Egypt (Blueprint) Slot Demo & Review

The first Eye of Horus online slot was a massive hit, spawning an entire franchise of sequels from its developer Blueprint Gaming as well as numerous copycat games from other studios. The last Eye of Horus, however, was something of a letdown – a Megaways “upgrade” that was actually less generous than a previous Horus Megaways slot that had been released several years prior! Can Blueprint redeem itself with this latest entry, the Eye of Horus Rise of Egypt slot? The statistics sure look familiar – ten fixed pay lines, a 94.50% RTP, and a 50,000x max win (allegedly) – so what else is new?

Do you know what? I’m honestly not sure just yet! There are still expanding wild symbols on reels two, three, and four only, scatter symbols which award 12 free games, cash prizes of up to 50x the total bet, and a symbol upgrade feature that is only active during the free games. Now it’s been a while since I last played the original Eye of Horus, but I’m really struggling to differentiate this game from my memory of it! Perhaps we’ll find something buried somewhere as we dig deeper into our review.

If you’re a true disciple of the Eye of Horus franchise, then I’m sure you’ll be able to spot the differences quicker than I can – check out our free Eye of Horus Rise of Egypt slot, available to play below.

Eye Of Horus Rise Of Egypt Paytable

For me, the best version of Eye of Horus was probably the first Megaways update, titled Eye of Horus Megaways slot. Aside from the addition of the hugely popular Megaways mechanic, that game was largely the same as the first game in the series – Eye of Horus. That’s the strange thing about this series – all of the games look incredibly similar to one another, even going as far as to recycle identical assets for every new release. As is the case with this variant, it’s often difficult – even for an experienced player such as myself – to tell the difference between some of these machines.

The highest-paying symbol on the paytable this time around in Blueprint’s Eye of Horus Rise of Egypt slot is the Eye of Ra, worth 50x the total bet for a full line of five symbols. Five cat tablets on a line will award you 40x your current stake, whilst the bird tablets drop this to 30x for a five of a kind combination. The scarab and ankh symbols share equal returns of 20x the total bet for a five symbol combination, along with the pair of fans. That just leaves the low-paying royals, all of which share equal returns of 10x the total bet for all five symbols. Looking back at the original game, I’ve finally spotted where things differ slightly – the top prizes in this game are lower, but the value of the lower-values symbols has been increased to compensate. Effectively then, Rise of Egypt is a rebalancing of the original gameplay.

The minimum/maximum permitted stakes available in Eye of Horus: Rise of Egypt are €0.10 and €100.00 per spin, respectively, with plenty of intermediate bets available in between those two limits.

Eye Of Horus Rise Of Egypt Slot Base Game

The basic gameplay of Eye of Horus Rise of Egypt slot remains the same as it has always been in this franchise. There are five reels of three rows each, and this edition goes back to the standard ten paylines of the earlier games in the series. There are expanding wild symbols (see below) which really help you to achieve the minimum of three matching symbols required to complete a win.

Wild Symbols

The expanding wild symbols feature Egyptian figures and can only appear on reels two, three, and four. When that occurs, the symbol will expand to cover its entire reel. Landing a wild on all three centre reels will guarantee you a four of a kind win on all ten paylines, with a decent chance of hitting at least one five-of-a-kind win.

Eye Of Horus Rise Of Egypt Slot Bonus Features

The main bonus round in the Eye of Horus Rise of Egypt slot is triggered by the tomb symbol; you’ll always receive 12 free games irrespective of the number of tombs, but there’s also a cash prize of €2, €20, or €50 for hitting three, four, or five symbols respectively.

Free Spins Feature

In this mode, the expanding wild symbol has a new purpose – it will upgrade the value of the low-paying tablet symbols every time it lands. Additionally, landing one, two, or three wilds will add one, three, or five additional spins to your remaining total. The most significant difference though is the collection meter to the left of the reels. Each scatter that lands will be collected, and every 4th you hit will award four extra spins and a win multiplier that will be attached to Horus Wild, with the multiplier potentially reaching up to x5.

The first wild symbol that lands will upgrade the fan symbols into ankhs, whilst the next will upgrade the ankhs into scarabs – the issue is, in this version of the game, all three of those symbols have exactly the same value! However, once you get past your first three wilds, they do begin to remove lower-paying symbols from the reels. I have to say though, I find this setup a little bit sneaky on the developer’s part.

Pros

  • For better or worse, Eye of Horus is a hugely popular series, and many players will be keen to try this release.
  • Jackpot is stated as 50,000x – how realistic that is, it’s hard to say.
  • The addition of the multiplier in the free spins is interesting.

Cons

  • Below-average RTP of just 94.50%
  • Recycled assets from previous games in the series.

Eye of Horus Rise of Egypt Slot Review Final Thoughts

We've got much of the same here in the Eye of Hours Rise of Egypt slot, but the significant inclusion of the wild multiplier that can be activated in the free spins should be enough to keep the die-hard fans of the series happy for a few spins at the very least.
