Game Overview
Halloween the time of year when every movie on the box is of the horror kind, kids knock on the door using extortion tactics to get treats, people dress up in poorly made disguises, and slot studios release new games with a spooky/scary theme. Obviously, it’s the last one I want to talk about, as while some developers create a genuine new slot, others just bolt Haloween into the title of an older release, change up the symbols and graphics a tad, and release it as brand new. As soon as I saw Pragmatic Play (although technically, the slot is from their partner in crime, Reel Kingdom) name behind Fangtastic FreeSpins, I knew which of the two was the more likely outcome. Yep, we have another clone, folks, or at least very close to one. Fangtastic FreeSpins is a 5×3 slot with 10-fixed paylines, a 96.51% RTP, 2,100x maximum win, and it is essentially Big Bass Bonanza with a few minor adjustments and a new lick of paint.
Instead of Fisherman and Fish Money symbols, we have Werewolves and Full Moon Money symbols, but as with Big Bass Bonanza, those symbols will not make an impact until the free spins bonus is triggered. Once it is, the Werewolf Wild Collect symbol will collect any money symbols holding values of up to 2,000x the stake. A progressive trail is also involved during that bonus, with it re-triggering the bonus, paying a cash prize, and increasing a win multiplier by 1x up to a maximum of 3x each time it collects 6 Werewolves. Make it to the trail’s end a third time, and the bonus ends instantly, awarding the 2,100x maximum win in the process.
If Big Bass Fangtastic FreeSpins sounds like a slot you can get your teeth into, give the slot demo a whirl below. Those Full Moon Money symbols might just change you each time they land.
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The werewolf is one of the least used traditional Halloween monsters when it comes to slot themes. Vampires, witches, and the devil usually dominate in that regard. Pragmatic Play has previously gone with the silver bullet-hating beasts before, in Curse of the Werewolf Megaways, and admittedly, it’s not bad. Aside from that, the only one I can recall is Blueprint Gaming’s Full Moon Fever, which has an epic 50,000x the stake maximum win.
Fangtastic FreeSpin’s maximum win is 25 times less than that, which is something to keep in mind. As for the symbol payouts, the Silver Bullet takes the top spot with a 200x the stake return for five in a row. The Flowers reward up to 100x, the Vial and Sword both pay up to 50x, and a 5-symbol combination of the Full Moon symbols returns 20x. Each of the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten pay up to 10x the stake.
Those who wish to spin away on Fangtastic FreeSpins can do so with stakes between €0.10 and €250.00. You can alter the spin bet using the plus and minus buttons next to the main spin button.
Base Game & Modifiers
There’s a 5×3 reel setup in play on Fangtastic FreeSpins, and across it, there are 10 fixed paylines for you to attempt to land winning combos. Aside from the Silver Bullet top-paying symbol that requires two or more, you need to land three or more matching symbols across a payline for payouts to come your way.
Fangtastic Free Spins Slot Bonus Features
While you’ll see Full Moon Money Symbols land during the base game, holding random values of between 2x and 2,000x the stake, they’re nothing but blockers. They will not come into play until you trigger the free spins bonus by landing three or more scatter symbols anywhere in view.
Free Spins Feature
You’ll receive 10, 15, or 20 free spins in return for 3, 4, or 5 of those scatters, respectively. During this feature, the Werewolf Collect symbol, which is also a Wild that will substitute for all regular symbols if combination wins are possible, is added to the reels. Every wild that lands adds an extra free spin, and each time you snag a Money symbol, 1x your bet gets tossed into the Blood Bank meter.
The wilds are also collected in a progressive trail above the reels, and once 6 have been gathered, the free spins bonus re-triggers, giving you an additional 8 free spins and a payout matching what’s been collected in the Blood Bank.
Each re-trigger also increases a global win multiplier by 1x, up to a maximum of 3x. If you manage to reach the end of the progressive trail for a 3rd time, you instantly win the slot’s maximum win of 2,100x the stake.
Ante Bet & Bonus Buy
- Ante Bet: Costing 50% on top of your current spin bet, the slot’s Ante Bet features lets you spin with an increased chance of triggering free spins.
- Buy Bonus: You can purchase the above free spins bonus for 100x the stake via the slot’s buy bonus feature.
Pros
- If you like the fishing game mechanics but want a different theme, this game could be appealing.
- A spooky themed slot without the scare factor.
Cons
- Aside from some minor differences, Fangtastic Freespins is identical to Big Bass Bonanza.
- A very low maximum win of 2,100x.
Fangtastic Free Spins Slot Review Final Thoughts
There are some subtle differences between Fangtastic FreeSpins and Big Bass Bonanza, but ultimately, the two slots are very similar. Each re-trigger of the free spins bonus now awards a cash payout and completing the trail rewards the slot’s maximum win. Aside from that and the obvious graphical changes, everything else is the same. However, Big Bass Bonanza is a popular slot, so I’d imagine this one will attract plenty of plays, too.
