Game Overview

You regularly hear bankers being referred to as ‘fatcats’ in the media – is it less or more polite to simply refer to them as fat bankers instead? That’s the question posed by Push Gaming and their online slot titled – you guessed it – Fat Banker. I think this is probably intended as a purely descriptive term in this case – I mean, just look at the main character featured in the game! He’s fatter than the Monopoly man! Better yet, all of the important statistics of this game are well above average, too – 50 paylines, a 25,000x stake maximum jackpot, and an RTP percentage of 96.43%.

How are you supposed to win such a huge sum of money? Luckily, the developers have provided plenty of help! This starts with several different types of wilds, the most valuable of which offer a multiplier of 5x. The reels are also loaded with bullion instant prize symbols, and these can instantly top up your winnings from any round by as much as 100x… each! Unfortunately, this isn’t just a case of hitting the bullion on its own – you’ll need a silver safe on reel six as well to actually collect the amounts shown. In addition, there are two car-themed modifiers – a red variety and a gold – as well as a fortune link and free spin-based bonus rounds. Good grief, Push… that’s a whole lot of bonus features to talk about!

Are you feeling lucky? I mean, seriously, challenging the banker lucky? If so, go ahead – our free demo slot of Fat Banker is available to play below.

Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Fat Banker Slot Paytable

The title of this game gives away the theme a little, but it’s the execution that counts! After all, what would a banker-themed game be without cute pug dogs, cigars, and top hats? Anyway, if you like the idea and mechanics behind Fat Banker, you might want to try out some of the other games in the “Fat Series Collection” from Push Gaming. These have themes that widely differ from each other, so in theory, there should be something everybody likes at least. Anyway, I’m going off on a tangent here, so go try out our Fat Rabbit demo if you’re feeling all cutesy, the Fat Santa demo when it’s getting festive, and when Halloween is just around the corner, you can get your teeth stuck into our Fat Drac demo, which has a jackpot of 50,000x bet.

It’s time to check out the paytable, where I wasn’t expecting too much because of the 50 paylines. Surprisingly, the Banker and Wild symbols share equal payouts of 40x the current bet for a full payline of six of a kind – not bad at all for this type of game. The Female Character will get you 20x for all six symbols, whilst the Pug is a tad less valuable at 16x for a complete payline. A six of a kind of the Cigar or Top Hat will each get you 10x your bet back, after which there’s a significant drop before you reach the 1x returns of the bottom four playing card suit symbols.

And the betting range? There are minimum/maximum permitted wagers of €0.10 and €20.00 per spin, respectively, which does help to reduce problems caused by the small-ish count of only 12 different bet levels in total.

Base Game & Modifers

The initial draft of this review ended up going on way too long because of the huge number of features that Push has built into the game. As such, the following has been edited for brevity; if you ignore these two sentences, at least! First up, Fat Banker uses a highly non-standard reel set with six rows of six symbol positions, helping to explain how Push has been able to offer high returns on the paytable despite including 50 paylines. Most games that utilise a playfield of this size and shape tend to use cluster or scatter pays instead, which does make this one feel somewhat unique during play.

Wilds & Multiplier Wilds

The fat banker symbol is the game’s standard wild, but it is only present during the base game and on the first reel. The game also includes wild money bags on reels two through six, which have a multiplier of 2x, 3x, or 5x.

Bullion, Bullion Multiplier & Safe Symbols

Bullion symbols are instant prize symbols that can only land on reel six during the base game or all reels during the Fortune Link feature. The value of bullion symbols can be further boosted by hitting a bullion multiplier symbol – again, these can only land on reel six during the base game or all reels during Fortune Link.

Landing a bullion symbol or two – even with a multiplier – still isn’t enough to collect the prize, unfortunately! To do that, you’ll also need to land a silver safe symbol on the same spin.

Red & Gold Car Modifiers

These two modifiers are pretty similar, but the red car version can only trigger during the base game, whilst the gold variant activates during both the fat banker free spins and fortune link features.

Both modifiers can trigger randomly if any of the game’s special symbols land on the reels, such as the bullion, wild, multiplier wild, or silver safe. When this occurs, the red car modifier will add a single extra symbol on your behalf – perhaps a multiplier to boost the value of your bullion or a silver safe to permit you to collect the prize.

The gold car modifier is slightly more generous, potentially adding several extra symbols anywhere on the playfield. This could be additional bullion, some wild money bag multipliers, or anything else you need to score a huge win!

Fat Banker Slot Bonus Features

With such a feature-packed game, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Push has included two main bonus rounds in the package. The fortune link feature activates when at least one bullion symbol and a silver safe land simultaneously, whilst the free spins require a fat banker on reel one and one or more wild money bag multipliers.

Fortune Link Feature

This feature initially awards just two free spins, so you’ll need to get lucky quickly to stay in the game! In this mode, all unoccupied symbol positions will spin independently for a chance to add additional bullion to your stash, which triggered the fortune link feature in the first place.

This works similarly to a three-spin feature in other games – landing a symbol will cause it to lock into place and reset your remaining spin counter back to the initial two, whilst a dead spin causes you to lose a life.

Fat Banker Free Spins

In contrast to the Fortune Link, this bonus round gives you five free spins to play with initially. The triggering fat banker symbol becomes sticky when the feature is activated, and any wild money bags that land during your free spins will cause the banker to move location to collect them.

As a certain number of money bags are collected, the banker will increase in size and add extra free spins to your remaining total. Each step up in size requires fewer money bags to achieve – a good thing considering that the banker soon begins to occupy a large percentage of the available ‘reel estate’!

Collecting 19 wild money bags will cause the fat banker to reach his maximum size of 6×6 symbol positions, effectively occupying the entire screen.

Bonus Buy

The bonus buy menu offers three options. The fortune link feature is the cheapest at just 30x the current stake, which tells you a lot about its big win potential compared to the fat banker free spins!

A standard set of those will set you back 150x the normal price per spin, whilst an enhanced ‘super bonus’ with a guaranteed five multiplier wilds will cost you 600x the current bet… I suspect that the latter is only going to be of interest to those with ‘fat bankrolls’!

Pros

  • Packed with special features!
  • Unique playfield setup with 6x6 symbol positions and 50 fixed pay lines
  • The huge maximum jackpot of 25,000x the player's stake.

Cons

  • Hitting enough symbols to collect the bullion during the base game can be tricky unless you get lucky and activate the red car modifier.
  • The fortune link bonus should have given you three spins rather than just two. As it stands, it’s way less exciting than the fat banker bonus.

Final Thoughts

When slots include as many features as this one, it can sometimes feel a little overwhelming, but Push Gaming has done an excellent job of making everything fit together in a clear and intuitive manner. The banker free spins are the real icing on the cake here and are your best shot at collecting a 25,000x jackpot. Recommended!
