Game Overview
It’s understandable that whenever a slot proves popular with players, developers are likely to consider releasing a sequel or, in some cases, even a whole series. There are many examples of both in the online slots space, with the likes of Pragmatic Play’s Big Bass Bonanza series and Playtech’s Age of the Gods two of the biggest. Synot Games has started doing the same, with the studio releasing the third in its Firebird series. The original slot, Firebird Double 27, was released in 2019, and since then, we’ve witnessed four others, including Firebird 27 Dice and Firebird 27. Today, I’m putting the latest in the series, Firebird 81, through its paces, and this is a 4×4 slot with 81 ways to win, a 96.12% RTP, and a 200x the stake max win.
It is a classic slot series, so anyone hoping for a ton of bonus features to work through will not have their wishes come true this time around. One interesting feature, however, is the wild symbols, which will double combination payouts the more that are involved. A single wild in a combo will double the win, two quadruple it, and three multiply it by 8 times. Aside from that, the only other feature of note is a risk game that, should you use it, can double your winnings up to 10 times.

theme, stakes, pays & symbols
Spotting a classic slot is about as easy as it gets. They often look dated, have all the usual suspects in terms of symbols, so fruits, bars, and sevens, and on deeper inspection, have few, if any, bonus features. We’ve reviewed quite a few slots in this genre, and while they can seem fairly similar, they do sometimes have something that allows them to stand out. Take Gamebeat’s Fortune Five Double as an example, as that slot, while it has no bonus game, does have three jackpots, one worth up to 1,000x the stake.
On Firebird 81, the Wild Multipliers allow the slot to stand out against others in the niche. As you’ll find out, they can multiply payouts by up to 8 times. Speaking of payouts, let’s cast our eyes over the slot’s paytable to establish what they are. The Red Seven, with a 160x the stake return for a four-symbol combination, is as good as it gets here, whilst the Bell offers a top return of 60x, and the Watermelon maxes out at 40x. The lower pays are the Blueberries, Plums, Oranges and Lemons, sharing a 4x the stake maximum reward with the Cherries completing the pays section and awarding 2x the bet if four match across a payline.
The betting range on Firebird 81 will delight low, mid, and high-rollers alike, with the game having a very impressive offering of stake sizes to play at, starting from a minimum of €0.10 a spin, progressing up to a huge maximum of €200.
Base Game & Modifiers
There is a 4×3 reel matrix in play on the Firebird 81 slot, with 81 ways to win. Essentially, you’re awarded a payout each time three or four matching symbols land on consecutive reels from left to right.
Wild Multipliers
While there isn’t a bonus game on Firebird 81, the wild symbols have more worth. As you’d expect, wilds substitute for regular symbols when winning combos are possible. However, on top of that, they can multiply the wins of the combinations they help create. If one, two, or three wilds are part of a combo, they multiply the payout by 2x, 4x, or 8x, respectively.
There are some exceptions, however:
- Wilds cannot count in a winning combination containing 4 Seven symbols.
- Only 1 wild can count in a 4-symbol combo of Bell symbols.
- Only 2 wilds can count in a 4-symbol combo of Watermelon symbols.
Gamble
Anytime you land a winning combination, you can choose to gamble it via the slot’s gamble feature. Get lucky enough and could double your winnings up to 10 times. You’re not obliged to use this feature, and if you do, you can collect your winnings at any time. Simply guess the colour of the next playing card in an all-or-nothing game. Win, and your winnings double, lose, and you lose all you’ve won so far.
Firebird 81 slot bonus features
Pros
- Excellent presentation.
Cons
- The 200x the stake maximum win is low, even for a classic-style slot.
Firebird 81 Slot Review Final Thoughts
Firebird 81 is a simple game, but I have not seen many classic slots featuring such a high standard of presentation. It really looks the part, whether you play it on a desktop or your mobile device, so top marks to Synot Games for that. As for the gameplay, I prefer slots with a bonus game or two, but at the same time, I recognise there is still a big market for this type of game, and if you fall into that category, Firebird 81 is an excellent choice.
