Forest Fortune Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
As the title suggests, Hacksaw has used a forest theme for their new game, so the reel strips are filled with tiny creatures such as beetles and ladybugs, alongside a variety of typical wild foods such as strawberries, mushrooms, blackberries, and acorns. Whilst there have been countless outdoor-themed online slots over the years, this is the first time I can recall seeing a developer go all out on this type of imagery which might put off some players who are a little less than happy to see their screen filled with bugs!
I guess the real question would be, how much do those bugs pay, wouldn’t it?! The ladybug gets the top spot with a return of up to 150x your bet if you can hit a cluster of 15 or more of them, although I suspect it will be a very rare event when that many of anything show up at once. A more realistic number, say ten, will pay you 10x your stake. The blue bug is next at 100x or just 4x for ten, after which the remaining red, green, and yellow-spotted creatures will all award you with 40x your bet for 15 or more and 2x for a cluster of ten. The wild symbol also gets a small mention at the bottom of the paytable, apparently paying 1,000x your stake for a full screen of 25; I’m not sure when or how often this can occur, but it’s a tantalising prospect all the same.
You can opt to bet anywhere from as little as €0.10 per spin at the bottom end of the range, all the way up to a maximum of €100.00 if you are feeling really crazy for some reason!
Base Game & Modifiers
Cluster pays games play quite differently from those which use traditional pay lines or pay ways, and the 5×5 playfield used in the Forest Fortune slot game also contributes to a very different experience from a typical online slot. For a start, you will need to hit five to six matching symbols on adjacent positions to score yourself a win, and there is a wide range of payouts for different numbers of symbols up to a maximum of 15. Furthermore, you can also win several times from each spin if you hit multiple clusters at once.
Spreading Wilds Modifier
Modifiers often kick in randomly, but this one is triggered every time one or more wild symbols land during a base game spin. The spreading wilds mod will effectively double the number of wilds on screen by “blowing” them onto adjacent positions, which should drastically increase your chances of hitting a winning cluster.
Note that if this mod results in the entire grid being filled by wilds, a bonus payout of 1,000x your bet will be awarded!
Forest Fortune Slot Free Spins Feature
The primary bonus round is a three-spin feature triggered by hitting three or more of the butterfly FS scatter symbols. It would have been nice to see a cash payout for hitting the scatter symbols as well, bearing in mind that there is no benefit to hitting four or more of them as far as the bonus round is concerned, but unfortunately, Hacksaw has not included anything like that on this occasion.
The three-spin format seems to have become hugely popular during the past couple of years; in this type of bonus round, you begin to play with three spins on your remaining counter, and the total is reset back to three each time that any winning symbols land on the playfield.
In the Forest Fortune video slot, each winning symbol will have a multiplier of between 1x and 100x attached to it, except the bumblebee, which instead acts by increasing the steps of the progress bar on the reel where it lands. It should be noted that there are two types of multiplier, one of which can multiply the current total above the reel it lands on.
If you run out of free spins, the feature will end by totalling up the sums at the top of all five reels to create a final multiplier, which will then be applied to your current stake to determine your total win. If you can fill up all five progress bars before this happens, the game will award you the jackpot of 5,000 your bet instead, with all previous winnings being discarded.
Bonus Buy Feature
If permitted in your jurisdiction, you can skip straight to the three-spin feature by paying 100x your regular bet during the base game. That’s a fairly average price for a bonus buy option, but it seems a little excessive to me on this occasion because it is just a three-spin feature. My typical winnings from the bonus round were always under 100x my stake, so I’m not sure if I would recommend opting for a bonus buy on this game.

Forest Fortune Slot Review Final Thoughts
I really like the look of this game in terms of its presentation – everything is immaculately drawn, sharp, and beautifully coloured. Not so sure I love what Hacksaw has actually drawn – does anybody love bugs? But hey, as far as the game is concerned, it’s a fun slot that will keep you entertained for a while, but the bonus round could have used a little more time and effort.
