Despite the fact there must be several dozen fruits that exist around the world, fruit machines always seem to have the same handful of symbols: watermelons, grapes, plums, oranges, lemons, and cherries make up the fruit-based symbols here, whilst a star is also included as a scatter symbol but does not trigger any kind of bonus round no matter how many of them you could get be fortunate enough to hit simultaneously. I prefer the slots I play to have at least one bonus round to break up the regular base game. Still, I have realised that not all players feel the same way I do. According to reliable statistics regarding the most popular online slots, Starburst by NetEnt has consistently been the highest grossing game on the web for several of the past 5 years. As with most other Gamebeat slots, the options available are clustered towards the lower end of this range; you have five options between €0.10 and €1.00, after which the gaps widen dramatically.

The basic gameplay of Fortune Five Double is about as straightforward as it gets for a five-reel online slot; a five-by-three playfield featuring just five pay lines spread across the most obvious paths from left to right and wins being awarded for hitting three or more matching symbols on any of those paylines.
That’s not to say that the game is bad. However, the limited number of symbols makes for much more frequent winning lines than you might expect, considering the low number of pay lines, and the 2x multiplier symbols appear very often too.

About those win multiplier symbols, these overlays can appear on top of any regular symbol and will double the payout for any winning combination they form a part of. Unfortunately, they do not add together or multiply one another should more than one form part of a winning line, but considering how often they appear, this didn’t bother me as much as it could have.

What may be more of a deal-breaker for some players is the lack of a free spins feature or any other kind of real bonus round. As I mentioned during the paytable section of the review, the trade-off for missing out on such a feature is that all of the RTP available for prizes is allocated to base game combinations – you don’t need to hit any scatter symbols or otherwise “buy” your way to the biggest wins when playing Fortune Five Double – all of the best prizes are available at all times and can be won any time you press the spin button.

The one exception to this simplicity comes from the three jackpot prizes, which are still awarded in return for hitting a regular pay line combination but work slightly differently from everything else on the paytable.
The Lucky Seven symbol triggers these jackpot payouts, paying 20x your bet for three on a payline, 200x for four, or 1,000x for a complete line of five-of-a-kind. As you might expect, the Lucky Seven symbol does appear far less frequently than everything else on the paytable, and I never hit even three of them during my game testing. I’m sure the odds of hitting a full line of five aren’t too enormous, however!
Fortune Five Double Slot Review Final Thoughts
This is a simple game, but the presentation is immaculate. I found that reasonable-sized wins occurred with sufficient frequency that my balance barely moved during the time I tested the slot for this review. That could be seen as both a good and a bad thing; I didn’t lose much, but I didn’t win a great deal either. I enjoy games with lower than average numbers of pay lines, but I’d have liked to see a little more in the way of features in Fortune Five Double.
