Foxy Wild Heart Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Zorro is, in fact, Spanish for Fox, which explains the title and theme of this game quite nicely without any further discussion. He is a fictional character created in 1919 by Johnston McCulley, an American pulp writer. His portrayal of Zorro was of a dashing masked vigilante who defends commoners and the indigenous people of the old West against the corrupt and oppressive government of the time. It’s a great story and one that deserves a full read – the original comic books are worth thousands, however, so I’d look for some digital downloads if I were you. Don’t worry; the copyright has long since expired, so there’s nothing illegal going on here! Surprisingly, there aren’t many other online slots based on Zorro – Aristocrat have a great one, and Playtech’s “The Mask of Zorro” is also worth a look, but both games are far inferior to this one, in my opinion.
I initially thought that BGaming had expressed all wins on the paytable as multiples of stake, but it turns out that is only partially true – the numbers are multiples of your bet per line. So, if you are betting €1.00 per spin, you are effectively betting €0.05 per payline, and so if you were to hit, for example, a full line of tens, you would win €6.00, which is shown on the paytable as €0.30. Twenty paylines at €0.30 give a total of €6.00. It makes perfect sense, but it could be done a little better. Let’s get back to the top of the table and start from there.
So, at the top of the tree, we have the wild, denoted by a heart with the word wild emblazoned on it – not to be confused with the regular heart symbol used to trigger the wild frame feature. Five of these bad boys on a payline will reward you with 40x your total bet, followed by a guitar and an anthropomorphic cat with a fan, both of which pay 15x your total bet. There are four “medium paying” symbols, represented by a bag of gold, a rose, a hat, and a fan, all of which pay 12x your total stake. The paytable is rounded off with five royal symbols, all of which have 6x your total stake returns.
BGaming has implemented a very fair – if slightly excessive, in my opinion – betting range of €0.20 per spin at the bottom end and €50.00 per spin at the top. Keep your bets below €10.00 if you want your bankroll to last longer than ten minutes – this slot can throw out some impressive wins for sure, but you seriously don’t want to run out of cash before you complete all of your wild frames!
Base Game & Modifiers
The basic outline of the Foxy Wild Heart video slot is a five-by-four playfield with twenty fixed paylines. I feel like a few more paylines could have helped here, as it’s quite a large grid for such a small number. On the flip side, this does mean that any wins you score and going to be bigger than they would be with more paylines, plus the features we are about to discuss made the pay lines feel like something of an afterthought during my testing!
Wild Frames Feature
This crucial element separates the Foxy Wild Heart slot game from any other 5×4 reel slot; whenever a heart symbol drops onto the reels, its position will become framed for the next ten spins. Any further hearts which drop during those ten spins will also have their positions framed, and you can end up with plenty of frames after ten spins if you are fortunate!
Bonus Multipliers
The absolute dream of the wild frames feature is for another heart symbol to drop into one of the existing frames. This will cause a multiplier boost, shown in the top-left hand corner of the screen, and can keep increasing up to a maximum of 10x!
I saw four heart symbols drop into wild frames during testing, immediately taking my multiplier up to 7x. When I reached my tenth spin, however, I didn’t manage to connect many pay lines, and the result was quite disappointing. I mention this just to clarify that no matter how many frames you have or how big your multiplier is, it still does not guarantee a huge win.
On other occasions, however, my wild frames turned out to be positioned beautifully, and a stacked wild symbol dropped on the tenth spin along with some more hearts and other high-paying symbols for a total base game pay of 156x my stake – not bad at all for a base game hit!
Foxy Wild Heart Slot Free Spins Feature
The base game of Foxy Wild Heart video slot would be enough to keep me entertained for hours, but BGaming didn’t stop with just the base game, oh no – they had to throw in a free spins feature as well, just to prove that they are the don of online slots… you have my respect boss, believe me! Scatter symbols appear only on reels one, three, and five, and you will need all of them if you are going to win yourself a free spin bonus round.
During this mode, all wilds that land on the screen will become sticky and lock in place for the duration of the bonus round. It is possible to fill the entire screen with wilds in this mode, and with 20 pay lines each returning 40x your stake, that’s a chunky 800x per spin!
I didn’t manage to fill the entire screen – perhaps unsurprisingly – however! I did manage an unbelievable 11 out of 15 wilds for a total of 867x my bet, making me feel slightly queasy about the fact that I was playing in demo mode. I’ll unquestionably be trying this game for actual cash as soon as possible!
Bonus Buy Feature
You have three options here, which is interesting – once again, BGaming is making some innovative moves and introducing new aspects to the typical bonus buy functionality. It’s a shame that this type of feature is rapidly becoming outlawed in many countries whose nanny state governments don’t believe we can be trusted to gamble as we see fit. Anyway, let’s not get political – the options are:
- 50x Your regular stake buys you a standard bonus round, just as if you had hit the three scatters. In my eyes, this is a bargain-basement price – most games charge around 100x for this same reward.
- 120x Your current stake will trigger a bonus round where the first spin is guaranteed to drop a 2×2 block of wilds somewhere on the screen. Note that this doesn’t mean you can ONLY hit four wilds on your first spin, and In many cases, I did hit far more than this – my 867x stake hit came from this option, meaning I made a profit of 747x my bet.
- And finally, 400x your current bet – a pretty hefty chunk of change, no question – will trigger a bonus round with a guaranteed 3×3 block of wilds somewhere on the screen. It isn’t easy to not make a profit from this option; in my experience, although quite often, that profit will be minimal. This gives you the best chance of hitting a full screen, of course, but bear in mind that bonuses cannot be retriggered, so you need to start collecting further wilds straight away for the best chance of a huge win.
Foxy Wild Heart Slot Review Final Thoughts
