Freeway 7 Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
You may expect a game with “Freeway” in the title to be based in the United States, and indeed the red, white, and blue colour scheme does suggest that this may have been ELK Studios’ intention. I do hope not though, as there is no Freeway 7 in the United States! My second guess, based on the oil drilling platforms that occasionally appear on the digital screen shown above the reels would be Iran’s Freeway 7, but that cop sure doesn’t look Iranian, Taiwan maybe? Or Greece? Or perhaps the title isn’t intended to refer to any specific freeway at all! I’d drop ELK a note and ask if I wasn’t worried they’d think I was absolutely crazy for asking such an arbitrary question!
Heading over to the paytable, the highest paying symbol is a lucky seven symbol bearing the stars and stripes – perhaps they should have called the game Interstate 7, then! These star-spangled sevens will pay you 7.5x your bet for a full payline of three-of-a-kind, whilst the red lucky sevens drop this to 5x, the gold lucky sevens are worth 3.5x, and the blue ones are the lowest payers of the bunch with a return of 2.5x your bet for a full pay line. Not amazing payouts, but again, this is a three-reel slot, so I think we can forgive them! There are four more lower-paying symbols too, represented by the typical BAR and fruit symbols common to so many online slots. How these fit in with the Freeway theme is a bit of a mystery, but it looks good, so I won’t ask too many questions!
Hit the stack of coins in the bottom-left corner of the screen and the quick bet page will open with several choices of wager; the lowest option available is €0.20, whilst the maximum of €100.00 is a little high in my opinion. The real issue, however, is that there are just 12 possible bets. Once you get above €2.00 per spin, the choices drop off really fast.
Base Game & Modifiers
Base gameplay in three-reel games is often quite predictable, so it’s nice to see that ELK Studios have included the Roadblock Nudge feature to break up what could otherwise become quite a monotonous base game. The playfield has 3×3 positions, whilst the 17 “connecting” paylines are not drawn anywhere I can find, so I guess you will have to wait and see which combinations produce a win and which don’t!
Road Block Nudge
The road block nudge modifier will activate each time an identical stack of symbols happens to land on the first and third reels. Reels one and three will then begin to nudge downwards each time a free re-spin occurs, and if a bonus symbol moves into view, then the nudging of that reel will stop, and the bonus symbol will lock in place.
Freeway 7 Slot Bonus Features
The road block nudge feature is handy for granting access to the game’s main bonus feature, a free spins bonus game with a multiplier feature. You’ll need three bonus symbols to trigger the feature. Let’s look in more detail below at how this bonus feature plays out.
Free Spins
This is an interesting free spin round; the first time you score a win with a particular symbol, your current multiplier will increase by 1x. Furthermore, every winning spin will award additional free spins to your remaining counter, meaning your bonus round can go on for quite a while if you get lucky with the wins!
There is also a super bonus, triggered when at least one “super bonus” symbol forms part of the combination, which starts the feature. The super bonus works in the same way, except that EVERY win will increase the current multiplier rather than just the first win for each of the game’s different symbols.
X-iter Feature
Those players who are lucky enough to be able to access the X-iter bonus buy option have the following possibilities on offer to them.
