Game Overview
Spadegaming is not what you’d label the most prominent casino slot provider in the Western world, but the developer is quickly gaining a reputation for creating top-quality video slots. Of course, most wouldn’t know that Spadegaming is Asia’s number one developer of slot games. Once you realise that, it’s easier to understand how quickly the provider is moving up the ranks on this side of the globe. I’ve reviewed a few of the studio’s slot games recently, and there is no doubt that the company knows how to create engaging and entertaining video slots. Today, I put Galaxy Guardian to the test. It is a 96.70% RTP sci-fi-themed slot featuring 6 dynamic reels that can deliver up to 117,649 ways to win.
Each spin on the Galaxy Guardians slot will randomly produce between 64 and 117,649 payways thanks to a dynamic reel modifier mechanic. That, coupled with a cascading reels mechanic, ensures the possibility of chain reaction wins occurring on a single spin. As for the main bonus feature, this is a free spins bonus with a global multiplier that can deliver multipliers of up to 200x.

Galaxy Guardian Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I’m sure many of you can guess the theme just by the title Galaxy Guardian. That’s right, it’s about some futuristic superhero tasked with protecting the galaxy against hordes of ruthless aliens. Admittedly, they look about as ruthless as a stuffed toy, but that’s just the playful artwork used by Spadegaming. By the way, if you’re into slots featuring a similar theme and friendly-looking aliens, look no further than BGaming’s Alien Fruits slot and the legendary Reactoonz slot from Play’n Go.
Anyway, back to the current alien invasion at hand. Before we get into the cool features and mechanics, let’s see what these quirky three-eyed fellas pay when landed in symbol combinations. The Green Captain is the highest-paying alien, returning 20x for a winning combo of six. He’s followed by the Moustached Alien worth 15x, an Orange Alien next at 12x, with the Purple and Blue Aliens completing the premium section with values of 10x and 8x, respectively, for completed lines of six. Moving to the low pays we find six standard royal symbols with the Ace and King sharing payouts of 5x, whilst the Queen, Jack, and Ten all pay equal amounts of 4x the bet for a six of a kind win. The game also features a wild symbol that can only land on reels 2 through 6 and will substitute for all regular symbols.
On our demo version, the minimum price to play Galaxy Guardian is €0.50 a spin, with the maximum stake on the game reaching €1,250. It’s very likely when playing the real money version that the values could alter, especially toward the lower end, as €0.50 a play would alienate many of the players with smaller budgets.
Galaxy Guardian Slot Base Game
Galaxy Guardian uses what looks like a Megaways mechanic (although I assume it’s not official) to determine results. Between 2 and 7 symbols can land on each of the 6 reels, meaning there is the potential for spins to roll in with up to 117,649 payways. For the most part, you need 3 or more matching symbols on subsequent reels starting from the first reel to form a winning combination, with the exception being the Green top-paying alien, which requires 2 or more.
The first win is often just the start of what is to come, thanks to a cascading reels mechanic. It removes all symbols involved in winning combinations so that new symbols can tumble into the action. This can lead to the creation of further winning connections and, therefore, additional and higher payouts.
Galaxy Guardian Slot Bonus Features
The main bonus round of Galaxy Guardian is triggered when four or more of the scatter symbols appear in view and will award players 8 free spins.
Free Spins Feature
Above the reels is a meter which displays a multiplier and how many Crystals you need to collect to move to the next stage. It also shows you the current Jackpot Level from 1 to 10. The higher the jackpot stage and level you reach, the bigger the global multiplier, which grows to a maximum of 200x. During free spins, the following symbols can land to aid your progress:
- Crystal Symbols: These are collected from the reels and are added to the Jackpot Stage meter. You need 25 to move to Stage 2, 50 for Stage 3, 75 for Stage 4, and 100 for Stage 5.
- 1+ Free Spin Symbols: These are self-explanatory as they reward you with an additional free spin.
- Level Up Symbols: These increase the Jackpot level by 1. There are 10 levels altogether.
- Double Level Up Symbols: Each instance of this symbol will jump you up two jackpot levels.
* Essentially, you enhance the global multiplier each time you level up or move to a new jackpot stage. The maximum global multiplier achievable is 200x.
Pros
- Up to 117,649 pays ways and cascading reels
- A quirky theme that is well presented.
Cons
- Low RTP.
