Gem Rush Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
It’s been discussed here on numerous occasions at demoslot that there are several themes that game providers always seem to add to their portfolios. Straight into the pays then, and things don’t appear to start particularly well. The top four paying symbols are gems coloured purple, red, green, and blue, with these only being worth 2x, 1.5, 1.2x and 1x, respectively, for a six of a kind win. Topping off the premium pays are the lantern and hardhat, both of which will pay 0.6x for a full payline. Yes, these are relatively low numbers, but they can be won over thousands of ways to win, so you can’t expect them to be overly huge. Onto the lower pays, and these start with the bucket, followed by the pickaxe, with both symbols awarding 0.6x if six lands on a payline. Completing the smaller values are the royal symbols J, Q, K, and Ace, each of which pays 0.4x for a six of a kind win. There’s a wild symbol to look out for, too, represented by a W carved into stone. This has no win value but will substitute for all other regular symbols.
Slotmill has a good selection of bet sizes for you, and there are plenty of options under €1, which is nice to see. So, standard gameplay can begin from €0.20 a spin, reaching a maximum of €50 for those with money to burn. There are bonus buy options, too, and I’ll come to those later in the review.
Base Game & Modifiers
Played over a reel set of 5×7, Gem Rush uses Dynamic Ways to generate up to 16,807 ways to win on any spin. As with most slots that operate on this mechanic, you nearly always end up with a far smaller amount of paylines in play and unlocking the grid further requires wins to connect or modifiers to come into play. As for getting your hands on some of that lovely money, you’ll need to match a minimum of three symbols from left to right to get a payday.
Progressive Win Multiplier
This begins at x1 on every spin but can be increased further if the special blocks appear in the Gem Crusher. Talking of which, let’s find out more about that.
Gem Crusher
The Gem Crusher is an in-game feature that I really enjoyed, and it’s present in both the base game and the free spins. This little machine is situated to the right of the reels and has a stack of special modifier symbols above it. Every win you create will cause one block to drop a position lower until it falls into the machine, rewarding one of the following eight mods.
- Multiplier Increase: Increases the progressive win multiplier by x1 – x5.
- Wild Conversion: Chooses a symbol on the reels and converts it into wilds.
- Gem Conversion: Picks a symbol on the screen and transforms it into the same randomly chosen gem symbol.
- Random Wilds: Adds 3 – 7 wilds to the reels.
- Column Wilds: Converts all symbols except scatters on a random reel into wilds.
- Dynamite: Will remove five blocker symbols from the grid, creating more ways to win.
- Extra Spin: Awards one extra spin ( only available in the bonus feature ).
Gem Rush Slot Bonus Features
Of course, the chance to win big money in Gem Rush comes courtesy of the main bonus feature. This is triggered when 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols land in view, with these awarding 5, 7, and 10 free spins to begin the feature, respectively.
