There are quite a few 7×7 clusters pays slots around, but arguably, one of the best is another title from Play’n Go called Reactoonz. It’s fairly similar to Gemix 100 in many ways, especially as it has a similar charging feature. Personally, I think it has a bit more going for it, though, in terms of features, especially because of Gargantoon symbols and the chance for losing spins to have up to 8 wild symbols randomly added to the reels. However, where Gemix 100 prevails is a much bigger max win with its whopping 25,000x jackpot.
The next step in this review is to examine the symbol payouts the slot offers. All the paying symbols are represented by differently shaped candy, and it’s the Star that offers the best returns, with a 15+ combo paying 250x the stake, which is double the next best provided by the Heart, which pays 125x. The Half Moon is next and returns 75x, and the Flower rounds off the premium section worth up to 50x. The lower pays begin with the 15x max payout offered by the Hexagon and Square, with the Triangle and Oblong symbols following at 7.5x if 15 or more are part of a win. Finally, we have the Wild symbol, which does its bit, too, even if it does not have a payout value, as it will be substitute for the above symbols whenever possible.
The betting range is pretty standard for a Play’n Go slot, as you can bet a minimum of €0.10 per spin up to a maximum of €100.00. That should be more than enough choice for all real-money players searching for an ideal bet for their bankroll.
Gemix 100 slot base game
One aspect of this enhanced version of Gemix that hasn’t changed is the reel configuration and the payout mechanics. The action once again takes place across a 7×7 grid, and there is a cluster pay mechanic to determine wins. Payouts come your way whenever five or more matching symbols land in a cluster, which means connected horizontally or vertically.
Winning clusters are removed from the reels, and new symbols drop into their vacated positions. This can lead to further combos, more cascades, and larger combined payouts.
Multipliers
Another benefit of landing multiple winning clusters on a single spin is that each time one occurs, a global win multiplier increases by 1x. That multiplier can reach a maximum of 100x and will apply to the total win on the spin. The multiplier resets at the start of a new spin.
Crystal Charge
As those winning combinations form, all symbols involved are collected in the Crystal Charge meter to the left of the reels. Each time the meter fills up with 25 collected symbols, one of the following random modifiers is triggered:
- Nova Blast: One randomly chosen symbol on the reels will explode, destroying and transforming adjacent symbols in the process.
- Crystal Warp: Randomly chosen, one symbol and all other instances are transformed into different symbols.
- Light Beam: Another symbol chosen randomly will fire off beams of light in all horizontal and vertical directions. All other symbols in the line of fire are transformed into different symbols.
- Chain Lightning: Two of the four corner symbols are chosen randomly. A stream of lightning connects the two of them, turning all those hit into one of those corner symbols.
Magical Worlds
On a miniature screen to the right of the reels and underneath the symbols on the main reels, you’ll see a random pattern on every spin. Creating winning combinations in those positions highlights them; should you highlight all positions, two things will happen. First, the global multiplier is increased by 5x, and secondly, you’re taken to one of the following new worlds where a special modifier plays out:
- Miner’s World: Up to 10 wild symbols are added to random positions on the gaming grid.
- Princesses World: A wild symbol appears on the edge of the reels before spreading to the other side.
- Wizard’s World: Up to 4 sticky wilds are added to random positions on the reels. These stay on the reels across spins until the Crystal Charge feature triggers.

Play’n Go has done a stellar job with its update of Gemix that I now see no reason to play the original. Why would you? Gemix 100 offers the same highly engaging gameplay and features but with a much improved maximum win and better graphics. The original was a great cluster pays slot, but this one is twice as good.
