Gemstone Rush is a cluster pays slot, which means no paylines. Instead, winning combinations are created when clusters of at least 4 matching symbols land adjacent on the 6×6 grid. Often accompanying the cluster pays mechanic on slots is cascading reels, which is again the case on Gemstone Rush. Winning combinations vanish into thin air, and new symbols fall into the vacated positions. New wins can occur, and if you’re lucky, you will experience a chain reaction of wins to boost your bankroll further.
Special Multiplier
After every combination win, the grid position beneath is marked with a spot. The next win that occurs on that spot in the same series of cascades will turn it into a 2x multiplier. That multiplier is applied to the following cascade that happens on top of it, with each future cascade doubling the multiplier up to a maximum of 128x. All multiplier positions reset for the start of the next spin.
Framed Symbols
This is a feature I remember from my review of Spadegaming’s Caishen Maxways slot. Some symbols may have a gold frame around them, and if they’re involved in a winning combination, they transform into wild symbols. Obviously, this increases your chances of landing additional wins when the new symbols drop into the action. Wild symbols substitute for regular paying symbols.

I’ve always been a sucker for cluster pays slots, and Gemstone Rush is another I enjoyed. There are better slots out there that use this feature mechanic, like Pragmatic Play's Sugar Rush slot, but this title still offers up some decent entertainment, good graphics and animations, and the chance to create impressive multiplier wins.
