As you progress through the levels, however, you’ll come across Multiplier Wilds and Expanding Wilds, which I’ll get into more detail about below.
The Ghost Battle Feature, Ghost Wild Symbols, Modifiers, & Level Up Plus
Without a doubt, the most fun aspect of the Ghostbusters Plus video slot is the Ghost Battle feature, which is the core aspect of the Level Up Plus progression system. A Ghost Battle triggers every time a Ghost symbol lands on the middle reel. You’re tasked with zapping the Ghost that appears with your proton pack. The Ghosts can take up to 3 zaps before they’re caught or run (fly/float) away. Each zap rewards you with a Ghost Wild, which is added to a queue at the bottom right of the reels.
The Ghost Queue comes into play on the base game spins following the conclusion of the Ghost Battle. The Ghost Wild is first in line for each subsequent base game spin and is triggered for that spin. If a Ghost runs out of health during the Ghost Battle feature, the Ghostbuster successfully captures the ghost, resulting in you levelling up and unlocking the next type of Ghost.
There are three types of Ghost Wilds you can unlock as you advance through the 10-level progression system:
- Multiplier Ghost Wilds (Unlocks at Level 1): Ghost Wild Symbols with 3x, 5x, or 10x multipliers. A 25x Ghost Multiplier can also appear during the Zuul Free Spins Bonus Game.
- Expanding Ghost Wilds (Unlocks at levels 3, 7, and 9): Ghost Wilds that can expand horizontally or in various cross-shaped directions.
- Extra Ghosts Wilds (Unlocks at levels 5 and 9): You can also unlock 2, 3, and 4 additional wild symbols that can appear on the reels.
As well as enhanced Ghost Wilds, you will also unlock special modifiers represented by the famous equipment used by the legendary ghost hunters. These modifiers can trigger randomly on any spin and are:
- Proton Pack (Unlocks at Level 1): Can change all instances between two and four Royal symbols to a single character symbol.
- Ghost Sniffer (Unlocks at Level 2): This will trigger the Ghost Battle feature.

- Ecto Goggles (Unlocks at Level 6): When two Bonus symbols land on the reels, this can reveal a third to trigger the Zuul Free Spins Bonus.
- Psychogram Helmet (Unlocks at Level 8): When one bonus symbol lands on the reels, this can reveal a second and third bonus symbol to trigger the Zuul Free Spins Bonus.
Tobin’s Spirit Guide Feature
If you capture all ghosts and reach level 10, you trigger the Tobin’s Spirit Guide Feature. It allows you to choose which Ghost to zap whenever the Ghost Battle feature triggers.
