Giga Jar Cluster Link Slot (Push Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

The first Jammin’ Jars game is getting on a bit now, but it’s still one of the most important and popular releases in Push Gaming’s back catalogue. If you didn’t know, Giga Jar is not just the name of the latest game in the Jammin’ Jars series – it’s also the name of the game’s main character, who first appeared in Jammin’ Jars 2 a couple of years earlier. Push reckons that he’s a much-loved character amongst slots fans, so they felt it was about time that ‘the DJ with the coldest beats’ got his own game! The gameplay is instantly recognisable as a Jammin’ Jars game but has also evolved somewhat – Giga Jar Cluster Link certainly brings the franchise bang up to date! This cluster-pays game uses a giant 7×7 playfield, but you’ll need to line up 16 matching symbols in adjacent positions to score the biggest wins. The slot features a selectable RTP with a default setting of 96.48% and a top jackpot of 10,000x the total bet.

One somewhat unique aspect of Giga Jar is its limited symbol set – there are just six regular symbols on the paytable of the game, which makes a big difference to how the game plays. Instant prize symbols join the regular symbols – a cluster of five or more of these will award the sum of all of their values – as well as wild jars, which will begin to spawn on the playfield after three consecutive winning cascades. You’ll want to keep an eye on your ‘jar meter’ whilst you are playing, as filling this counter allows you to move through progressively more generous stages of the game. Throw in the snowball feature with its giant symbols and the ice breaker feature, which can remove up to three paying symbols from the already limited selection, and you have one feature-packed online slot!

Did you know that the Jammin’ Jars guy was named Giga Jar? I feel terribly rude – as if I didn’t even know his name! So perhaps we should all show him some respect by playing our free demo slot of Giga Jar? It’s available to play below!

Time can be a funny thing. On the one hand, it seems crazy that five years have passed since the release of the original Jammin’ Jars online slot; on the other, I can remember 2018 as if it was just yesterday. Considering how popular the first game was, I’d have to say that Push Gaming has been very restrained in not over-using the franchise. That being said, the developer has released Jammim Jars 2 and other games, such as Retro Tapes, that were clearly based on the same mechanics. One other thing – I couldn’t help but notice that the jackpot for Giga Jar is only half of that offered by the original Jammin’ Jars, which seems like a strange decision on the developer’s part.

The reels of Giga Jar feature just six regular symbols, most of which are intended to look like cube-shaped fruits. The strawberry is the most valuable of the bunch, with a return of 500x the total bet for a cluster of 16 or more adjacent matching symbols, followed by the orange, which is worth half as much at 250x. The peach (I think?) is worth 200x, and that’s the lot as far as the high-paying symbols are concerned! The remaining three are the lime, paying 20x for a maximum 16 symbol cluster, the blackcurrant offering 10x, and an empty blue jar with a return of 10x the total bet for 16 or more symbols. Finally, you’ll notice many other symbols on the reels that feature numbers – these are the instant pay symbols, and the numbers shown are multiples of the total bet, which are only paid if five or more of these symbols appear in adjacent positions.

There’s a wide betting range available in Giga Jar, starting with a minimum bet per spin of just €0.10. The maximum bet is casino-selectable, but the default setting of €100.00 seems likely to be offered by most of the larger sites.

Base Game & Modifiers

Giga Jar Cluster Link Slot Base Game
Giga Jar Cluster Link slot base game

Giga Jar is a 7×7 grid slot that awards wins for clusters of five or more adjacent symbols. Whenever a winning cluster forms on the reels, the symbols that it contains will be removed from play immediately after your winnings have been paid. When this occurs, all remaining symbols will collapse downwards, and new symbols will drop in to re-fill the resulting vacant positions.

Jar Meter

The jar meter is a counter that will display a player’s progression throughout the game. It contains the following elements.

  • Wild Jar Activation Meters
  • Giga Jar Activation Meters
  • Giga Jar Multipliers

The jar meter is filled by one step each time a winning combination is removed from the playfield.

Wild Jar Symbols

The wild symbols offered in Giga Jar do not drop in the same way as the game’s regular symbols and are generated by filling the Jar Meter. After three consecutive winning cascades, the first wild jar activation meter will be filled, and a Wild Jar will be placed on the grid in a random position. When a wild jar forms part of a winning combination, it will not be removed from the playfield at the same time as the other symbols and will instead move to an adjacent vacant position before any new symbols fall into view.

You’ll need to hit another three consecutive wins to unlock the second wild jar and another three to get the third and final one. Each wild jar has a multiplier associated with it too, which will increase by 1x every time it forms part of a winning combination.

Once you have managed to unlock all three wild jars, the next step in the jar meter is to unlock the giga jar symbol. Once again, you’ll need three consecutive wins to trigger this next step – that’s a total of 12 wins in a row from a single game round – after which the giga jar feature will be triggered.

Giga Jar Feature

The giga jar appears as a single 2×2 giant wild. Once the giga jar has been added to the reels, it will stay in play for the following three cascades – even if they do not result in a win.

You can reactivate the jar by hitting three consecutive winning clusters before it is removed from the reels. Each time the giga jar is reactivated, its multiplier will increase through the following steps: 1x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, and 50x.

Snowball Feature

This is the first of two consolation features, which can only be triggered by hitting two consecutive winning cascades but failing to hit the third one necessary to trigger the wild jar feature. When this situation arises, there is a chance that one or two giant symbols will be added to the grid. These giant symbols can be either regular paytable symbols or instant prize symbols and can appear as 2×2, 3×3, or even 4×4 in size.

Ice Breaker Feature

Like the Snowball feature, the Ice Breaker is a randomly triggered feature that will only activate should you hit two consecutive wins but fail to score the third one necessary to trigger the wild jar feature. The Ice Breaker feature will remove one, two, or three sets of symbols randomly chosen from the paytable. Cross your fingers that it wipes out all of the low-paying ones!

Giga Jar Cluster Link Slot Review Final Thoughts

This game feels like it has a lot of potential, but filling the jar meter all the way can be a real struggle; it’s certainly a shame that Push didn’t decide to include a bonus buy feature to give us a little more opportunity to play the giga jar part of the game. Also, the 10,000x jackpot may disappoint some players, especially when the first Jammin’ Jars could award twice as much from a single game round.

Fans of the series will want to give Giga Jar a spin regardless, but I suspect many of them will conclude that the first two games were the superior slots.
