Giganimals Gigalbox Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The last Gigablox game I reviewed was Dragonblox Gigablox, an excellent machine produced by Peter & Sons. As great as it was, it couldn’t quite match the excellence of 4ThePlayer’s contributions to the Gigablox genre, such as the fantastic 90K Yeti Gigablox. In comparison to those slots, Giganimals looks a little bit rough around the edges; the symbols all look great when they appear in their giant form, but it appears that not a lot of effort was put into resizing them for their smaller appearances. This isn’t a dealbreaker, but it is certainly surprising to be making such observations about the presentation of a Yggdrasil game.
The most valuable symbol available in Giganimals Gigablox is the wild, but you might be surprised to learn that it will only award 1x the total bet for a full payline of six of a kind. Don’t click away just yet though, as there are several good reasons for this that we’ll be discussing in the next section! The purple character symbol is the most valuable and awards 0.75x the bet for all six symbols, followed by the blue character at 0.63x, the green at 0.5x, and the red at 0.25x. The four low-paying battery symbols are colour-coordinated with their more valuable counterparts, although I’m not sure this was strictly necessary as they all share equal payouts of 0.25x for a six of a kind combination.
The minimum/maximum permitted bets are €0.20 and €100.00, but this is, unfortunately, yet another slot to suffer from a severe lack of wagering options towards the upper end of this range. Still, I think most players will comfortably find a stake to play at that is relative to their bankroll.
Base Game & Modifiers
The initial screen of Giganimals Gigablox hints at its unusual reel layout, but it isn’t until you begin to spin that the workings of the format are truly revealed. Each symbol can appear as a single 1×1 block and multiple larger sizes up to a maximum of 4×4. When winnings are calculated, the larger symbols will be divided into 1×1 segments to make it easier to see which pay lines you have won on.
Wild Surge
The single base game modifier is dubbed the ‘Wild Surge’ and can activate randomly at the beginning of any paid spin. When this occurs, one or more of the low-paying symbols will be transformed into additional wild symbols.
Even a single set of low pays transforming into wilds makes for a profitable modifier, but if all four of them decide to make the switch, you could be in for a highly profitable base game spin!
Giganimals Gigalbox Slot Bonus Features
This game includes two free spin modes, each of which is triggered differently. The most common of the pair is the collection spins, and these are activated by filling the battery meters on the left of the reels with low-paying symbols. On the other hand, the more generous scatter free spins are triggered by hitting at least five bonus symbols during a single game round.
Collection Free Spins
Filling at least one of the collection meters will award between 5 and 24 free spins. If you are unhappy with your initial allocation, a gamble feature is available, allowing you to risk your bonus for the chance to win additional spins.
These spins behave similarly to the Wild Surge Modifier available in the base game in that the triggering low-paying symbols are all converted into wilds for the duration of the feature.
It would be nearly impossible to trigger all four meters simultaneously, but this is not necessary as meters can be filled whilst the bonus is active. When this occurs, the new triggering symbol(s) will also transform into wilds, and new free spins will be added to your remaining total.
Scatter Free Spins
The number of free spins awarded by this feature is determined directly by the number of triggering bonus symbols. So, for example, if two 2×2 gigablocks of bonus symbols start the feature, the game will grant you eight free spins.
Like the collection spins, a gamble feature is again available, allowing you to boost your starting spin count. The scatter free spins tend to be more generous in the number of spins they award, but apart from this, the two features are very similar.
Bonus Buy
There are three options available on the bonus buy menu of Giganimals Gigablox, all of which award the scatter free spins feature with varying numbers of initial spins:
- 75x Stake: Randomly awards between 10 and 24 free spins.
- 150x Stake: Guarantees the maximum of 24 free spins.
- 250x Stake: Guarantees 24 free spins with one symbol converted into additional wilds right from the start.

I did have fun testing Giganimals Gigablox, but the presentation is less than perfect, and there isn’t much variety in the feature set, either. On the other hand, the Gigablox mechanic is exciting, and the top jackpot of over 20,000x is huge, too. So overall, this is something of a mixed bag – but certainly worth a look.
