Goat Getter (Push Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

The scatter-pay genre of online slots is well and truly finding its feet now in 2023, with more and more games opting to use a 6×5 or 5×6 reel configuration with thirty fixed symbol positions, which seems to be a where the genre is settling in as its default configuration. Unlike most games of this type, however, Goat Getter from Push Gaming only requires you to hit a minimum of six matching symbols anywhere on the playfield to score a winning combination rather than the more usual eight. The top win is 10,000x the player’s stake, whilst the RTP is in the region of 96.41%, depending on whether the various bonus buy or bonus bet options are used.

Feature-wise, the game includes several instant-pay golden pot symbols, a coin drop feature that works in tandem with the golden pots, and bonus symbols for triggering its free spin-based bonus round. Fairly straightforward, all-in-all, but don’t worry – there’s a little more to this one than meets the eye to keep things interesting, especially if you happen to live in an area where bonus buy options are permitted!

I’m not sure what the fascination with goats is, but it seems to pop up a lot more frequently in popular culture than you might expect! Check out our free Goat Getter slot demo, available to play below.

Goat Getter Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols

Goat Getter Slot Paytable
Goat Getter slot paytable

Animals – just what is it about them that makes them such a fertile breeding ground for great online slots? Whether it’s the Black Bull games by Pragmatic Play or Animal Madness, it’s an enduring theme that doesn’t look like it is going to run out of steam any time soon. Despite its name, however, Goat Getter isn’t your typical animal-themed slot machine – the reels are filled with symbols that bear little resemblance to the subject matter in question, and it’s only really the goats that appear during the free spins that would give you any clue that this was a goat-themed game at all.

The highest-paying symbols on the paytable are the three chests – the red variety has a maximum payout of 500x the total bet for a maximum combo of 18 or more symbols, whilst the purple ones can pay up to 300x if you can get super-lucky with those. The green chests pay just 200x, but that’s still a very respectable paytable win that beats pretty much any other slot game on the market. There are three medium pays too – crystals, mushrooms, and eggs, which pay 75x, 60x, or 45x the total bet for 18+ symbol combinations, respectively. As for the low pays, those are resembled by the playing card suits with payouts ranging between 30x for the hearts down to 15x for the diamonds.

There’s no problem with the betting ranges either – €0.10 to €100.00 for the maximum/maximum permitted bets respectively; the only strange bit comes when you enable the bonus bet, which has the rather strange function of increasing the cost per spin by 54%? Not sure what that’s about, but thankfully it increases your RTP and guarantees more bonus rounds per session.

Base Game & Modifiers

Goat Getter Slot Base Game
Goat Getter slot base game

The basic gameplay of Goat Getter relies on a five-reel, six-row layout, but it’s a scatter-pay machine meaning that you don’t need to worry about any payways or paylines. Instead, match up six identical symbols anywhere on the playfield, and you will be rewarded with a prize. As mentioned previously, the lowest possible prizes are paid for hitting six symbols, but much larger payouts are reserved for wins of 18 or more symbols.

Coin Pots / Coin Drop

Coin pot symbols have an instant payout attached to them, but you can only collect the value of those prizes when six or more coin pots land on the screen. If between six and nine coin pots are visible on the screen, you’ll receive a small cash prize of between 0.5x and 4x the total bet, whilst special features are granted for greater numbers of pots. In the base game, these features are nothing to shout about; however, during the bonus round, the almighty goat symbol may appear and turn your fortunes around In a split second!

Goat Getter Slot Bonus Features

Goat Getter Free Spins Feature
Goat Getter free spins feature

Three bonus symbols will award between 6 and 12 free spins, whilst four or five bonus symbols increase this to either 10-16 or 14-16 free spins, respectively.

Free Spins

The free spins feature has the addition of the special goat symbol, which is a coin pot collector. When there is at least one coin pot in view and a goat, the goat will collect all of the instant prize symbols visible on the screen. Additionally, each goat collected will be added to the meter at the side of the reels, where it’s possible to win more spins and receive a higher collector multiplier.

Bonus Buy

If you can access the feature buy menu from your jurisdiction, then the following options will be open to you.

  • 3 Scatter Trigger: Cost 100x bet.
  • 4 Scatter Trigger: Cost 200x bet.
  • 5 Scatter Trigger: Cost 400x bet.
  • Random Award: Cost 175x bet.

Pros

  • It doesn’t have much to do with goats, but it’s a great scatter-pay game anyway!
  • Attractive top win of 10,000x the total bet

Cons

  • The top prizes can only be won during the bonus round.
  • Similar mechanics to Fishin Frenzy and Big Bass.

Final Thoughts

Push Gaming has produced some fantastic work recently, and whilst this is undeniably a fun slot, it lacks the magic that some of their recent games have offered. It’s worth a few spins, but you might find yourself heading back to other similar slots in the Big Bass or Fishin Frenzy franchises.
