The playfield might be unusual, but many of the remaining features are much more familiar. Gods of Giza is yet another tumbling reels machine, meaning winning combinations are immediately removed once your winnings have been awarded. When this occurs, the remaining symbols will drop into the resulting gaps, allowing new symbols – and potentially winning combinations – to fall into view. Winning combinations also generate ‘depleting wilds’, which can appear with a win-boosting multiplier of up to 10x. Egyptian-themed slots never seem to get old, do they? There’s always a new one to try whenever I start browsing for some new slots to try at my favourite casino! Gods of Giza isn’t anything special in this regard – it looks good, no question, but it’s certainly not a standout slot in terms of presentation. All of the Egyptian tropes are included – the Ankh, the Eye of Ra, and all the others… I do wish that developers would be a bit more imaginative sometimes!
Onto the paytable, and the highest-paying symbol is the bird worth 20x the total bet for a complete payline of five of a kind. The horse will get you 15x your bet for all five symbols, whilst the Eye of Ra returns 10x for a full payline. There are just three more low pays represented by coloured gems, which can award 2x, 2.5x, or 3x for the blue, green, and red ones, respectively. The wilds have a premium payout of 25x for all five symbols, and that’s the lot! Only a handful of symbols, then, but they do appear stacked on the reels, which makes it much easier to hit a large number of pay lines simultaneously.
Pragmatic Play’s trademark three-way wager selection system is always included with their games. This allows you to bet any multiple of the minimum €0.20 wager until you reach the maximum limit of €100.00 per spin. Despite the 5×5 reel and payline layouts, Gods of Giza still plays like a traditional video slot. However, the paylines are laid out in a very unusual arrangement, so it’s worth checking the diagrams shown on the paytable before starting to play. You’ll need at least three matching symbols to score a win, and these must begin from either the left column or the top row.
Depleting Wilds
Wild symbols are generated whenever a winning combination is removed from the playfield. Wilds always remain on the screen and are not removed as part of the tumble phase of each spin unless they are included in three consecutive winning combinations. Each wild comes with a random multiplier of 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x, or 10x; if more than one wild is included in a winning payline, the product of their multipliers is used instead.

Bonus scatter symbols can land on all five reels and appear as stacks, but you’ll only need to hit three to trigger a bonus round. I’ve been having a lot of fun testing Gods of Giza today – the unique reel layout makes for an interesting experience, and the stacked symbol layouts really do help to hit frequent winning combinations. The jackpot could have been higher, and the base game would benefit from a modifier or two, but all in all, it’s a decent game that’s well worth a look.
