Game Overview
I loved the original Gold Factory slot when Microgaming released it over a decade ago. Hence, it’s nice to see the brand resurrected for the developer’s latest Mega Moolah progressive game. It’s a very different game from the original Gold Factory. However – the same symbols are used, but that is about as far as the similarities go. This is a 25-pay line game, with a maximum win of 2,000,000 Euros in the jackpot game. The maximum regular win is unclear, as is the RTP – Microgaming states the overall RTP as 88.12% with a jackpot contribution of 5.3%, but I can’t imagine the total RTP can be as low as 93.42% – I certainly hope not, anyway.
Features are a little bit thin on the ground – Gold Factory Jackpots is very much a Mega Moolah game in that respect. You have the jackpot bonus game and a free spins feature, but that is your lot, unfortunately. The free spins feature does come with a 3x multiplier at least, and the paytable mentions a maximum win in that mode of €45,000. Still, I wouldn’t say I like it when developers give the maximum win in monetary terms – if you were playing the max bet, this would mean a top win of 1,800x your stake, but whether that is the maximum win at lower stakes is a mystery.

Gold Factory Jackpots Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Gold Factory’s theme was always a bit strange and reminded me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. You have a top-hatted man along with a strange looking child, what looks like a helter skelter, a train, and a submarine… quite an eclectic collection of symbols, wouldn’t you say? I guess Microgaming were going for something quirky, and all of the same symbols are used here. It looks good, but all Microgaming slots look good. Compared to other Mega Moolah slots, I wouldn’t say this is the best looking of the bunch. Still, what appeals to me may not be the same as what appeals to you, and as the jackpots are shared between all Mega Moolah games, there is no reason not to try them all and find the one that suits your tastes best.
The game logo symbol is the game’s wild and sits firmly at the top of the paytable with a return of 600x your bet for a full payline of five-of-a-kind. The scatter symbol will pay you 100x your stake for all five of those, but good look seeing that combination very often! Five scatter triggers are notoriously hard to hit in any slot, and I have only had a handful of them on any Microgaming slot in all my years playing. As for the regular symbols, the gold factory leader is worth 30x your bet for a five-of-a-kind combination of his symbol, whilst the child will pay 24x. The helter skelter type symbol is worth 20x for all five, whilst the train is worth 16x, and the submarine will pay you 10x for all five of those. Considering this is a progressive jackpot game, these seem like good payouts.
The betting range starts at €0.25 and maxes out at €25.00 per round, which is reasonable. As always, with a progressive jackpot game, the more you bet, the higher your chances of triggering the jackpot bonus, so keep that in mind if you play Gold Factory Jackpots.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game is a standard 5×3 slot machine with 25 paylines, and all wins are awarded for hitting matching symbols starting from the left side of the reels. There aren’t any real base game features to speak of, except for the jackpot game, which can be triggered on any base game or bonus round spin. If you do somehow get lucky enough to trigger the jackpot game on the same spin as a bonus round, the jackpot game will play out first.
Jackpot Game
The jackpot feature is triggered randomly on any paid spin, but the higher your bet is, the greater your chances are of the feature being activated. If you do trigger the jackpot game, you are guaranteed to win one of the progressive jackpots – that’s great and all, but most of the time, you will win the Mini progressive. Sadly, that’s just a fact of life when playing progressive jackpot machines!
The four jackpots seed as follows:
- MINI Progressive – Minimum €10.00 Prize
- MINOR Progressive – Minimum €100.00 Prize
- MAJOR Progressive – Minimum €10,000 Prize
- MEGA Progressive – Minimum €2,000,000 Prize
Gold Factory Jackpots Slot Bonus Features
The free spins feature is triggered by hitting three or more scatter symbols during the base game. The feature always awards 15 free spins, but you do win an additional cash prize if the bonus round is triggered by four or five scatter symbols.
During this mode, all wins are worth 3x as much as they are during the regular base game. You can also retrigger the free spins feature by hitting three or more bonus symbols whilst the feature is in play. The scatter prizes are also tripled during the free spins, increasing the maximum payout for five scatters to 300x your bet.
Gold Factory Jackpots Slot Review Final Thoughts
The original Mega Moolah is getting a little bit long in the tooth by now, yet players are still pumping thousands of Euros through these machines daily. Microgaming seems to have recently renewed interest in the franchise, with several new Mega Moolah games, including this one and Jungle Mega Moolah.
It seems that progressive jackpot games are having something of a resurgence, perhaps because of the ever-increasing size of the online slot market. There’s no real reason to play this game over any other Mega Moolah slot unless you like the theme particularly, but the size of the jackpots will ensure that this game will see plenty of action in the coming months.
