Gold Of Fortune God (Play'n Go) Slot Demo & Review

The feeling I get when a new Asian-themed slot comes along is similar to how I felt in decades gone by when a scratch in a vinyl record caused the needle to stay in the same groove and play the same thing over and over again. I’ve heard this one before, many times before, so forgive me if this theme (and there are many others) does not excite me anymore. Still, that goes with the territory as a slot player and reviewer, I guess, so I’d best suck it up and get on with the latest to hit casino lobbies. It’s Gold of Fortune God from Play’n Go, a five-reel, three-row, and 243 ways to win slot with a 96.18% RTP, medium variance, and a 6,000x the stake max win.

The main attraction of the Gold of Fortune God is, without doubt, the four local fixed jackpots that you stand a chance of winning during the slot’s two bonus games. The best of these is the Grand, which, if won, will boost your casino balance by 5,000x your stake. Both of those bonus rounds are Hold & Win games that are basically identical, except for one that gives you double the chance of winning a jackpot and has a win multiplier of up to 10x the stake compared to 5x.

Are those features enough to convince you to learn more about this slot and give a full review a read? To help you make up your mind, we’ve also added a free Gold of Fortune God slot demo you can take for a few spins. It’s ready to play below.

Regular readers will probably know that this section is where I, or whoever else of my colleagues, come up with a few other suggestions of similarly-themed slots you can play. Well, I’m not short of options with this one, that’s for sure. Off the top of my head, there’s the excellent Sakura Fortune 2 from Quickspin, which looks fantastic and has a lucrative free spins bonus with locked wilds. Another couple of quality recommendations, in my opinion at least, are Temple of Paw, again from Quickspin, and Light & Wonder’s 88 Fortunes Megaways.

As we head over to the paytable on Gold of Fortune God, I can tell you there isn’t too much to get excited about. If landed across five consecutive reels, the Gold Buddha returns 9x the stake, and the Golden Ingot pays up to 8x. There’s a significant drop to the two remaining premium symbols, with the Tree or Prosperity paying up to 4x and the Hanging Ribbon worth a top return of 3x. The Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten playing cards round off the paytable and deliver returns of 1.5x, 1x, 0.8x, 0.6x, and 0.5x, respectively.

It’s business as usual for Play’n Go regarding the betting range on Gold of Fortune God, with the minimum stake starting at €0.10 a spin and reaching a maximum of €100.00 for those with extremely deep pockets.

Gold Of Fortune God Slot Base Game & Modifiers

The 5×3 reel setup sits within a Chinese temple in a beautiful mountain landscape, while the slot utilises a 243-ways to-win mechanic to determine payouts. You’ll receive a win when at least three matching symbols connect across consecutive reels beginning from reel one.

While there isn’t much going on in the base game besides wilds and symbol wins, Play’n Go offsets this by giving you two bonus games to aim for on the Gold of Fortune God slot. I say two bonuses, but they’re essentially the same, apart from a few differences.

Dragon’s Fortune Bonus

Triggered randomly, a silver ring can appear above any position on the reels as they’re spinning. You’ll trigger the Dragon’s Fortune bonus game if a Dragon symbol lands in that position.

It is a Hold & Win bonus that features only money symbols holding cash prizes of 2x, 3x, and 5x your current stake. You receive an initial three respins that reset each time a new money symbol lands on the reels. Additionally, a Golden Ring permanently sits around one of the reel positions. If a cash icon lands on that position, it will award one of the Mini (20x), Minor (50x), and Major (500x) fixed jackpots. Winning the Grand Jackpot (5,000x) only happens if you fill all positions on the reels.

Kingdom’s Treasure

The other bonus game is the Kingom’s Treasure free spins bonus. It is triggered when three or more scatter symbols land anywhere in view on a base game spin.

Before it starts, you’re first given spins on the Dragon’s Wheel to determine the size of a win multiplier that will apply to the total win received via the Kingdom’s Treasure Bonus. You’ll receive 1, 2, or 3 spins of this wheel for the 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols that triggered the feature, respectively. Each spin will earn a 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x, or 10x multiplier and are added together before the main bonus begins. The bonus is similar to the Dragon’s Fortune Bonus, except two golden rings are permanently on the reels this time.

Pros

  • Two bonus games, albeit very similar.

Cons

  • A theme that became tired long before it was featured here.
  • Base game symbol payouts are on the low side.

Gold Of Fortune God Slot Review Final Thoughts

It's always difficult to get excited by an Asian-themed slot when there are so many of them already. Put it this way, you know you’ve seen a theme one too many times when you already know the reel symbols you’re about to see - as I did here. The fixed jackpots are decent, but landing the largest (Grand) is not something I’d imagine many of us will ever manage. Aside from that, Gold of Fortune God is a below-average slot with an overused theme.
