Granny Vs Zombies Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
It seems as if zombie-themed games have taken off in a big way ever since television’s most famous zombie show finished its 11-season run last year! There have been some great ones, too – Zombie aPOPalypse springs to mind, along with Zombie Carnival and Spartans vs Zombies, just for starters! Out of all of those games, though, I have to say that I like the graphical style used in this one best of all. It’s a bit of a shame that the top jackpot is limited to just 5,000x, though – I know that isn’t a shockingly bad amount, but it’s definitely low by modern slot standards.
Unsurprisingly, Granny is the most valuable symbol on the paytable, offering a return of 10x the total bet for a full payline of five of a kind. There are four more high-paying zombie characters – all as ugly as each other, I must say! – with the red, green, blue, and orange varieties offering payouts of 5x, 4x, 3x, and 3x for all five symbols, respectively. As for the low pays, these are represented by standard royals; once again, the art style used here looks great – they certainly aren’t boring royal symbols! The payouts for these range between 1x the bet for five tens or jacks and 1.5x the bet for five aces.
As for the betting range, the minimum/maximum permitted wagers have been set at €0.10 and €50.00 per round, respectively, but Pear Fiction has also allowed you to control your total bet with a good deal of granularity as well. This means there is no shortage of possible choices to suit players with bankrolls of all sizes.
Base Game & Modifiers
The standard playfield used in Granny vs Zombies: Lock & Win features five reels of four rows each, which is a little large considering there are only 20 fixed paylines available. Thankfully, many symbols appear in double or triple-height form, whilst the remainder can also appear in stacked configurations.
Granny Wild & Zombie Wild Symbols
In addition to the regular wilds found on all five reels, the game includes two special wilds – the granny wild and the zombie wild. Granny wilds will attack zombie wilds, which will cause additional wild symbols to be created in adjacent positions.
Walking Wilds
There are three different walking wild symbols that can land on reels three, four, and five, but the only difference between these is purely visual. Whenever a walking wild is present on reels two through five, it will move one position to the left on the next spin. This process continues until all walking wilds have moved off of the left edge of the playfield.
Granny Vs Zombies Slot Bonus Features
There are two main bonus rounds available in Granny vs Zombies – the Lock & Win feature mentioned in the title is triggered by hitting six coin symbols, whilst the regular free spins can only be activated by hitting all three available scatter symbols on reels two, three, and four.
Free Spins
Before the free spins feature begins, you’ll be offered the chance to choose how many spins you wish to receive. Why would you choose fewer spins, I hear you ask? Well, the maximum option of 10 free spins comes with the weakest frying pan that only scores a single damage point, whilst the six free spin option comes with Molotov cocktails that hit for four damage points!
Whenever Granny hits a zombie, the number of damage points caused is added to a global multiplier that is then applied to all subsequent wins for the remainder of the bonus round. The free spins feature also has multiple levels. When the global multiplier reaches 5x, 10x, or 20x, you will progress to the next level and win additional free spins depending on the number you initially chose before the feature began.
Lock & Win Feature
The main lock and win feature is activated by hitting six coin symbols during the base game, after which three re-spins will be awarded. All symbols except coins are now removed from the reels; whenever a coin lands on the playfield in this mode, it will become locked in place for the duration of the feature.
Whenever a coin symbol does land, your remaining re-spin counter is reset back to the initial three. The feature will end if three consecutive spins pass by with no coin symbols landing on the screen.
Not all coin symbols are created equal; however – there are multiplier coins which can increase the value of all coins currently visible on the screen, as well as key coins that can unlock the jackpot lock and win feature. Additionally, hitting a single star coin will guarantee the jackpot lock and win will be awarded at the end of the regular lock and win mode.

Final Thoughts
This is the first slot I have tried from this developer, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what else Pear Fiction Studios will come out with in the future! The wide variety of different bonus features is a pleasure to try out – it’s just a shame that the regular paytable wins are a little on the small side.
