Game Overview
Play’n GO often takes similar slot themes from other brands that have proven popular and creates its own version. In the case of Hot Dog Heist, it reminds me of Pragmatic Play’s Dog House slot series. In all fairness, we’ve seen Pragmatic do the same with its John Hunter slots, which are similar to Play’n GO’s Book of Dead and Greentube’s Book of Ra, so all is fair in love and war. Hot Dog Heist’s 5×4 reels host 40 paylines, with a 2,500x max win.
To roll in big wins on the Hot Dog Heist slot, the gameplay centres itself around triggering the bonus game via scatters. When you do, there are 6 free spin rounds with various reel modifiers and a pick-me game awarded randomly via a Feature Wheel.
Gameplay & Features
Hot Dog Heist features 40 fixed paylines over a 5×4 reel matrix. Players will be awarded a payout when three or more matching symbols connect on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel first. At the bottom of the reels, you can set a bet of €0.20 per spin up to a maximum of €50.00.
Hot Dog Heist Free Spins
Landing 3 scatter symbols anywhere on the reels triggers a Feature Wheel with 7 bonus modes. The wheel will spin and randomly land on one of the bonus games.
There are 6 free spin modes with varying reel modifiers:
- Mega Symbols: These symbols appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5.
- Wild Reels: Every spin features 2 reels full of wilds.
- Multipliers: Free spins with up to 30x multipliers.
- Stacked Symbols with Respins: Stacked Rough Collie symbols. When they stack up on reels 2, 3, and 4, they will trigger respins. The Rough Collie symbol is the Hot Dog Heist slot’s highest-paying symbol besides the wild symbol combination.
- Sticky Wild with Respins: The Border Collie becomes a 2×2 Sticky wild symbol and triggers respins.
- 2×2 Symbols + Multipliers: The Bulldog symbol becomes a 2×2 symbol, and there are two guaranteed symbols on the reels. Plus, they award 2x multipliers when they help to complete a symbol combination win.
Whose A Good Doggie Bonus
The seventh feature is also one of the bonus games that can trigger via the Feature Wheel. A 5×4 grid with dog paw prints will appear in what is basically a pick-me bonus round. Select tiles to uncover gold coins or any of the dog symbols for cash prizes and bonus features. If you choose a cash symbol, this is collected and added to your total win, while the wild symbol lets you pick again. The bonus ends if you choose the symbol with two crossed dog bones.
Pros
- 7 different bonus games with multipliers, re-spins, and giant symbols.
- Fun pick-me bonus game with cash prizes.
Cons
- Disappointing base game with only a wild symbol.
- The highest symbol combination win is 12.5x your bet.
Hot Dog Heist Slot Review Final Thoughts
Hot Dog Heist keeps you guessing each time you land the scatters to trigger the Feature Wheel, and you might feel like you have to keep spinning to get a taste of all 7 bonus games. The only side to this game I’m not overly keen on is the base game, which has low-paying symbols even when you land five and only a wild symbol to help you keep your bankroll in the green or close to it.
