Joker Lanterns Hit ‘n’ Roll Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I’m not entirely sure what the vibe Kalamba was going for with Joker Lanterns – it looks futuristic at times, whilst many of the fruit symbols appear to have just been designed to look “cool”. It doesn’t matter too much, though, as any game with a 50,000x bet jackpot will attract plenty of players regardless. The only other games that seem to offer maximum hits as large as this are the Megaways slots, and not everybody wants to spend every waking minute playing those games. If I had to come up with a negative, the backdrop could be a little more interesting, but overall, I like the look of this game – it’s like a slightly darker version of Twin Spin, with pumpkins!
The highest paying symbol on the paytable is that scary looking pumpkin – he deserves it too; I mean, come on, whoever carved that bad boy knew what they were doing! He’ll pay you 33.3x your stake for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind, which is far out in front of everything else on the paytable. For example, the second-placed symbol is the lucky seven with a return of just 2.66x your bet for each full line of five, then the triple BAR at 2x, and then the single and double bars at 1.33x each. The bell and four-leaved clover complete the “high-paying” symbols, but with a return of just 1x your bet for five-of-a-kind, I struggle to call these “high-paying” symbols.
Things get a little bit weird when it comes to the betting range, as the lowest option available is €0.30, but there are very few round numbers along the way up to the maximum of €45.00 per spin – it’s only a minor niggle, but I prefer betting €2.00 rather than €1.80 or €2.40, as it just makes it easier to work out what your winning combinations are worth!
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game takes place on a 5×4 playfield with 40 fixed paylines, and as ever, you’ll need to line up three or more matching symbols starting from the left to score a win. There are plenty of unique twists on offer here, such as the “Hit’N’Roll” wheel at the top of the screen, which is constantly scrolling to show what you could win if you trigger that feature. There is also a free spin counter that will continually increase each time you spin, meaning that your bonus round will consist of many more spins if it takes a long time to trigger.
Multiplier Wilds Symbol
Many games feature multiplier wilds in their bonus rounds, and Kalamba has thrown them into the base game as well in Joker Lanterns, so your winning combinations can often consist of 2x, 3x, and 5x multiplier wilds which are multiplied together if more than one appears in a single winning pay line.

All of the main features in the game are based around the Hit and Roll functionality, which is triggered by hitting three of the star symbols on reels two, three, and four.
Hit & Roll Feature
When hit and roll is triggered, the wheel above the reel set will spin, and a random prize will be awarded. These prizes can consist of a cashpot (jackpot prize), a random multiple of the stake cash prize, or a free spins bonus round trigger.
Cashpots
The value of the cashpot prizes will increase with every base game spin that is played. You can see this in action as there is a dial to the left of the hit and roll wheel that will indicate each time a cashpot gets a boost to the next level. The cashpot prizes are shown underneath this meter and range between 50x and 50,000x your stake. I bet anyone who hits that one will have a party that night!
Free Spins Feature
Just like the cashpot feature, the free spins meter will also increase with every base game played. The game starts with just five free spins on the counter, and as this number increases past several pre-determined values (7, 15, or 24 free spins), a multiplier will also be added to the bonus round.
You can boost your number of remaining spins by collecting bonus accumulator symbols whilst the feature is in play; for every three of these collected, three more spins are added to the remaining counter.
Hyperbonus Feature
The HyperBONUS feature is a bonus buy feature with a twist – you can select your preferred type of win from the Hit and Roll feature – do you want to go for a cashpot, even though you may end up with a low paying one? Or would you rather risk a free spins bonus round?
Of course, the price of these features will vary depending on your current bet size and the numbers you have accumulated on the meters for the cashpot and free spin features, so we can’t give exact prices here.
