King Of Ghosts Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Horror and Halloween have formed the basis of numerous online slots over the years. Still, for some reason, ghosts haven’t attracted the same level of attention from developers that, for example, Zombies have done. The Ghostbusters slot by IGT is perhaps one of the most well-known examples, with a newer paranormal experience named “Ghost Pirates” released by NetEnt a tad more recently. Long before Blueprint got bitten by the Megaways bug, they also created a high-quality online slot named Ghost Slider, which has several similarities to Endorphina’s work here. In many ways, however, King of Ghosts is one of the most unique ghostly-themed online slots and deserves a spin or two on that basis alone.
So, how does the paytable stack up in the King of Ghosts video slot? I’m guessing the eponymous King of the Ghosts is our top guy here, as the only character on the paytable to sport a payoff for just two matching symbols on a payline. At 500x your stake for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind, the King offers you the opportunity of a decent base game hit. However, I’m intrigued as to how a 500x return could potentially be multiplied by 50 to reach the maximum 25,000x win that this game is theoretically capable of paying out. A golden eagle pays 100x for five-of-a-kind – a big step in the opposite direction – as does a hand fan. I guess even ghosts get hot during the Summer! An ornately designed sword pays 50x for all five, whilst three gold coins and one of those strange Chinese bowls that somebody is bound to tell me the actual name of one day both return 25x for a full pay line of either. You can also win 100x your stake for hitting all five scatter symbols to trigger a bonus round.
The 20 paylines are fixed, meaning you must play all of them on every round, but you do have the option to set your preferred coin value and the number of them you wish to bet per line. This gives a wager range of between €0.20 and €2.00 at a coin value of a penny, or between €20.00 and €200.00 at coin values of €1.
Base Game & Modifiers
King of Ghosts features five reels and three rows, with 20 fixed pay lines. So far, so pedestrian – this is a layout that is probably drawn on the walls of a cave somewhere by ancient man – perhaps even painted in animal blood. Winnings, too, work just as you might expect – two of the top symbol are enough to score a win, whilst three of any other symbol are required if you wish to receive a payout of any amount. Of course, scatters make a single exception to this rule – three or more of these will award you with a prize of up to 100x your stake, and scatter wins are added to line wins should you be lucky enough to score both at once.
Wild Feature
I’m including this here for two reasons; first, Endorphina’s great work here feels like it deserves to have at least one subsection. Secondly, if you search the game help files enough, you can find a little more information about the KING of the GHOSTS!
He is named Zhong Kui and was a King of Ghosts in Chinese Mythology. He not only occupies the top spot on the paytable but also acts as a wild symbol – a curious piece of information to omit from the paytable, but, alas, maybe it was supposed to be a surprise, and I just spoilt it for you. I doubt it, though.
King Of Ghosts Slot Free Spins Feature
Three or more scatter symbols will trigger twelve free games with a fairly unique expanding wild and random multiplier feature. You don’t win any additional spins for hitting more than three triggering scatters, but you do at least win some extra cash money for your efforts.
If a free spin ends in a winning combination, you will see ghosts appear and try to steal your winnings. These lame imposters are no match for our man Zhong Kui, who has sneakily hidden ghost bait (which, legend has it, the ghostbusters later stole) in each of the five cages where the ghosts will look to steal your loot.
The trouble is, each cage has an attached multiplier, and Zhong Kui wasn’t benevolent enough to only hide ghost bait in the cages with the lower multipliers, and those imposter ghosts might well steal off with some prizes with larger multipliers. The multipliers can range from 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, and 10x. Once all the ghosts have been caged, whatever multiplier is left in the remaining cage will be applied to your winnings, and the next free spin will start.
Gamble Feature
A straight-up high/low or red/black card gamble makes for a very risky proposition in my eyes, but Endorphina has kindly offered a more generous type of card gamble here – you will be shown the first card and asked to choose from four other cards. All you need to do is choose a higher card or a joker, and you will double your winnings.
The overall RTP is just 84%, which sounds like a bad deal until you factor in that you can see the dealer’s card and simply say, “No thank you!”. With that in mind…. It has to be worth a look, right?
King Of Ghosts Slot Review Final Thoughts
Endorphina’s games may not be for everyone – some players might like a few more features, perhaps a modifier or two during the base game, for example. For me, this type of game suits me just fine – bonus rounds occur seemingly frequently, base game payouts are good, and the presentation is top-notch. Whatever the rules on being the King of Ghosts may be, they sure can result in a recommended online slot!
