Kingdom Below (Play'n Go) Slot Demo & Review

One of my biggest pet hates is money symbol collection slots that feature cash symbols in the base game that you cannot collect. I’ve never seen the point of it. They land on the reels but are worthless until you trigger the main bonus game. Fortunately, some slots do allow you to collect them during regular spins, and among those is Kingdom Below, a hell-themed slot from Play’n Go. As for some basic stats to kick off the review proceedings, Kingdom Below is a 5×4 slot with 12 paylines, a 96.25% RTP, and a 6,000x the stake maximum win.

The key to winning those cash prizes is the devil flying above the reels, which can trigger one of three random modifiers. One collects all the cash prizes, another collects them and multiplies them by how many reels are holding them, and another could reward nothing, a random cash prize or scatter symbols. Once you’ve triggered the free spins bonus, there are a bunch of other modifiers you can activate, too. You receive one initially at the start of the bonus and can play with more by unlocking stages on a progressive trail above the reels. You can win additional spins, remove low-value symbols from the reels, increase the drop rate of instant prizes, and more. A win multiplier also increases as you progress through that 12-position trail.

I imagine many people will be eager to try this game, and if that includes you, you can scroll down to our free demo slot of Kingdom Below to check it out.

I always find it amusing when slot developers portray the devil as ‘cute’ as I’m pretty sure he’d be the complete opposite if he does, in fact, exist. I’d argue he’s more likely to look like he does in Skywind’s Dance with the Devil, which is an excellent slot, by the way, or he will walk among us as he does in Nolimit City’s Devil’s Crossroad. I can understand why many go down the cute route, though, as not all of us want to be scared out of our skin when parting with our money to play an online slot.

Before I get into all the bonus features on Kingdom Below, I guess I should clear up the symbol payouts that could come your way. The Fiery Crown has a return of 200x the stake for five in a row, while the Trident is worth up to 100x. The Ring and Dagger symbols both share a 50x return, and the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten all pay up to 10x. There are no wild symbols on the reels of Kingdom Below, so if you were hoping to get some help creating winning combos, it’s tough luck on that front.

As for the staking options on Kingdom Below, these range from a minimum of €0.10 to a maximum of €50.00. Whilst this is a little light at the top end of the betting range from what we usually see on a Play’n Go slot, I can’t see too many players complaining that the stakes don’t reach a high enough value.

When you power up the Kingdom Below slot, you’re greeted with a 5×4 reel configuration that harbours 12 paylines. Aside from the Flaming Crown symbol that requires two or more, all other winning combinations are formed when three or more matching symbols land across a payline from left to right.

Other than the regular symbols, instant cash prizes can land holding values as a multiplier of the stake between 1x and 50x. As you spin the reels, the rather cute-looking devil above the reels flies around and can randomly trigger the following effects:

  • Grab Feature: This collects all the instant cash prizes from the reels.
  • Slide n Grab: This also collects all the prizes and applies a multiplier to the combined total. That multiplier is the total of all reels that contain an instant prize symbol, so between 1x and 5x.
  • Under Reel: A mystery prize is revealed from beneath the reels. It could be nothing, a random instant cash prize, a free spins bonus symbol, or a scatter.

Kingdom Below slot bonus features

Kingdom Below Slot free spins feature

The main free spins bonus game triggers when three or more scatter symbols land anywhere in view during the base game. Once triggered, you receive an initial 10 free spins, but before the bonus game starts, a Pick a Fire feature triggers. You will receive one of the following modifiers but could have a chance to trigger others throughout the bonus game.

  • 5-10 Additional spins
  • More Grab Triggers
  • More Slide n Grab Triggers
  • More Instant Cash Prize Symbols
  • The lowest paying symbol is removed from the reels
  • At least 1 Instant Prize Symbol on every spin
  • Grab multiplier increased to 2x
  • Up to 1 random grab symbol will be sticky for 1 spin
  • More grab Triggers at 2x
  • More Instant Prize Symbols and the 2 lowest-paying symbols are removed from the reels
  • 3 lowest-paying symbols are removed from the reels
  • At least 3 instant prize symbols on every spin
  • Grab multiplier is increased to 5x
  • Up to 2 random Instant Prize Symbols will be sticky for 1 spin

Free Spins Feature

As the free spins play out, scatter symbols are collected and will progress a 12-stage progressive trail above the reels. Scatters are only collected if they land on the reel directly below the devil.

Unlocking the second, sixth, and tenth stages of the trail awards extra picks in the Pick a Fire feature, while unlocking the fourth, eighth, and twelfth stages rewards 10 additional free spins and increases a win multiplier through 2x, 3x, and 10x each time.

Pros

  • The cash collection mechanic is popular.

Cons

  • No bonus buy option.
  • Variable RTPs are available for operators.

Kingdom Below Slot Review Final Thoughts

There are elements of a fishing slot about Kingdom below, but with the additional modifiers in the game, Play'n Go has done enough to make it stand out enough for players to give it a go. Personally, it wasn't a slot I could connect with, but you might find it's to your taste.
