Knight Fight (Elk Studios) Slot Demo & Review

Let the battles begin! In the latest slot release from Elk Studios, Knight Fight, we have four Knights hellbent on coming out on top against their competitors. Each will attempt to collect as many of their own coloured crests and any special feature symbols they come across. If they cross paths, there is a good chance a Knight Fight will break out between them, destroying all the symbols in their radius. Sounds great, right? So let’s see what Elk Studios has done with the Knight Fight slot, played on a 6×6 grid that could expand to 8×8, has a high variance, a 94% RTP, and a 10,000x stake maximum win.

A lot is going on in Knight Fight, starting with the return of the CollectR mechanic made famous in the Pirots series of slots. The four Knights collect same-colour symbols adjacent to them while also picking up bonus scatters and feature symbols along the way. As a symbol collection meter fills up to the side of the reels, feature symbols are stacked and activated. Those features add wilds and scatters to the reels, upgrade regular symbols, pay instant cash prizes, expand the reels, and more. That modifier fun continues into a free spins bonus that keeps everything persistent between spins.

Did you know that Knights still exist today? No, I’m not talking about the type you see wearing all that heavy armour in the movies. These days, Knighthoods are given to British people who have made an outstanding contribution to society in one area or another. Those given such honour are not required to armour up, by the way; they’re just given a title. If you find Knights intriguing, a few other slots use them as a theme. One that springs to mind is Red Tiger Gaming’s Knights of Avalon, a slot with 1,024 ways to win and a 17,729x the stake maximum win. Another notable mention is Pragmatic Play’s The Knight King, a simple 5×3 slot with a max win of 5,000x.

As Knight Fight uses the CollectR mechanic, there are no regular paylines on the slot, and payouts are calculated differently. Four coloured crest symbols can hold levels from 1-7, each with a value that’s paid once collected. The Red Crest symbols have a payout range of between 0.1x and 50x, the Purple delivers rewards of between 0.1x to 20x, the Green is worth between 0.05x and 15x, and finally, the Blue returns 0.05x to 10x

Those wishing to play either our free demo of Knight Fight or the real money version at an online casino can wager a minimum of €0.20 a spin, whilst those with a bankroll fit for a king can play at up to €100 a press.

Knight Fight uses an unorthodox CollectR mechanic to calculate wins, so here, you shouldn’t expect any of the more common ones, such as paylines, Megaways, clusters, ways-to-win, or scatter pays. Instead, four Knights will collect symbols the same colour as them and feature symbols if they’re adjacent. So, the Knights can walk along a pathway collecting eligible symbols as they go. If you’re getting deja vu after seeing this mechanic before, that’s because it features in the Pirots series of games, with the Pirots 2 demo slot and Pirots 3 demo remaining two of the most popualr games on our platform should you wish to try them out.

Switcheroo & Knight Fights

It’s possible for Knights in adjacent positions to switch when they can carry on collecting symbols. If at least three of the Knights are adjacent to each other horizontally or vertically, a Knight Fight breaks out.

This fight occurs randomly on the playing grid, and any coin symbols, scatters, dragon eggs, and goats caught up in it are collected. The crest symbols involved are removed from the reels and are not collected.

Feature Symbols & The Feature Collection Meter

The Knights can collect feature symbols as well as the same coloured crests. These, once triggered by the Symbol Collection Feature, do the following:

  • Coin Symbols: These hold cash values ranging up to the slot’s maximum win. You’re paid those values when the feature symbol is activated.
  • Symbol Upgrades: Upgrade one of the coloured sets of Crest symbols by 1-3 levels.
  • Upgrade All Symbols: Upgrades all four coloured crest symbols by 1-3 levels.
  • Wild Symbols: Will substitute for all crest symbols when wins are possible.
  • Goat Symbols: If a knight collects the goat, it becomes evil and scares all Knights into new positions on the grid.
  • Transform Symbols: It transforms crest symbols adjacent to a Knight into the same colour as the knight. It can also transform crests into feature symbols.
  • Golden Apple Baskets: Empty positions are filled with Apples, allowing the Knights to move one position across to reach same coloured crest symbols.
  • Dragon Egg Symbols: Once collected by a Knight, this symbol triggers a Dragon Flame Strike that removes all symbols in close proximity and expands the reels to 8×8 in size.

To the right of the reels, a symbol collection meter keeps track of all the crest and wild symbols collected. Once full, a random number of one of the above feature symbols will be released onto the grid. Up to three feature symbols can be stacked at a time, and these trigger once no other wins are possible on the reels.

Knight Fight slot bonus features

Knight Fight Slot
Knight Fight Slot free spins feature

The ultimate aim whilst playing the base game is for the knights to collect the three scatter symbols needed to trigger the man free spins bonus, which will always begin with 5 free spins.

Free Spins Feature

You receive the 5 free spins of the reels at the current reel configuration, and the current status of the collection meter also remains, while any feature symbols collected will trigger at the start of the free spins. Every aspect of the base game spins that usually resets between spins is now persistent until the bonus ends. That means the grid size, symbol levels, and everything else carry over to the next free spin until the bonus is finished.

X-iter Bonus Buy

The X-iter bonus buy options available are:

  • Bonus Hunt: For 3x the current stake, you can spin with 4x the chance of triggering the free spins bonus game.
  • Apple Feast: 10x gives you spins with the Golden Apple Basket feature active.
  • Max Grid: For 25x, you spin with the grid expanded to its full 8×8 size.
  • Bonus Game: 100x the current stake buys you the free spins bonus game.
  • Super Bonus Game:

Pros

  • The gameplay is hugely engaging due to the mechanics and modifiers.
  • ELK always delivers when it comes to graphics, animation, and the overall standard of design, and Knight Fight doesn't disappoint with any of these.

Cons

  • A clone of Pirots 2.
  • The usual RTP of 94% from ELK is always a talking point.

Knight Fight Slot Review Final Thoughts

I’m struggling to find many, if any, differences between Knight Fight and Elk’s Pirots 2 slot. The theme is different, as there are Knights instead of Pirots, but the feature set, mechanics, maximum win, and even RTP are the same. That is odd to me, as Elk Studios is not usually known for creating clones or re-skins. I’m a big fan of the Pirots series, so it’s not that big of a deal to me, as this theme looks equally as fun as those used there. You, on the other hand, might feel somewhat shortchanged.
