Game Overview
With a title like ‘Lamp of Infinity’, my hopes were high that Pragmatic Play had created a new ultra-high variance online slot with a monstrous jackpot this time around. Upon loading the game for the first time, I was met with the Reel Kingdom logo – this is a sub-brand of Pragmatic Play, as far as I understand it, and one that tends to produce some high-quality releases. It all sounded like the groundwork was in place for a solid new game – and then I checked out the vitals. The first red flag was the payline count – only five? The RTP is right about average at 96.07%, whilst the jackpot cap of 5,000x isn’t exactly what I’d call monstrous.
Thankfully, a small number of paylines doesn’t automatically limit your options when it comes to including unique and innovative features. I’m not sure if Pragmatic Play got the memo here, though, as the base game of Lamp of Infinity doesn’t include any modifiers or unique aspects aside from all of the high-paying symbols having a prize available for hitting just two matches. The free spins feature is a little better, however – this awards eight free spins, which take place on an alternate reel set with a huge 3×3 wild symbol covering reels three, four, and five. The bonus round can also re-trigger itself automatically after each set of eight spins, and this is guaranteed to occur if your winnings currently stand at less than 18x your total bet.
Are you intrigued at the prospect of a 5×3 reel game with just five pay lines? If so, why not give our free demo slot of Lamp of Infinity a rub or two? Just be sure to grant us one of your wishes if the genie makes an appearance!
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Whoever came up with the idea of a magic lamp? It’s a bit silly, really, isn’t it? I mean, why would a genie hide inside a lamp anyway? And how would he have any idea you were rubbing the lamp to summon him to make an appearance? I guess it’s one of those things you’re not really meant to question; otherwise, we’d never get such amazing slots as Genie Jackpot Megaways, Genie Jackpots Wishmaker and 10,0001 Nights Megaways, would we? There’s quite a contrast between those games and Lamp of Infinity, of course – they offer far more payways, than just the five fixed lines on offer here.
A low number of lines usually equates to bigger prizes for hitting a full payline, which, thankfully, is the case here. The highest-paying symbol is the Mosque, and this will pay you 100x your bet for a full payline of five of a kind. The Red Gemstone is worth 50x for all five symbols, followed by the Monkey at 20x, the Magic Carpet at 10x, and the Treasure Chest and Sword at 5x each. There are just three low-paying royals included here, the Ace, King, and Queen, all of which share equal returns of 2x the bet for a five of a kind combination. As mentioned earlier, all of the high-paying symbols have prizes for just two matches starting from the leftmost reel, which does help you to win a lot more frequently than you may expect, considering the low number of paylines.
I wasn’t sure what to expect regarding the minimum bet in Lamp of Infinity – it could have been as low as just €0.05, but Pragmatic Play has instead opted to go for €0.20, with a maximum upper limit of €100.00 per spin. These values increase to €0.30 and €150.00, respectively, if the bonus bet option is turned on.
Base Game & Modifiers
The basic gameplay of Lamp of Infinity doesn’t hold many surprises other than the small number of paylines we have already discussed. There are five reels of three rows each, with prizes awarded for hitting two or more matching symbols on a payline starting from the leftmost reel. Sadly, there are no wild symbols or payouts attached to the bonus scatters – all of the good stuff is locked up in the bonus round, so I guess we may as well fast-forward to that right now!
Lamp Of Infinity Slot Bonus Features
Hitting three, four, or five bonus symbols anywhere on the reels will award eight free spins. I’m not sure why these symbols are not listed as being scatters on the paytable – they certainly function as scatters. If you do hit four or five triggering symbols, the game will guarantee you one or two re-triggers at the end of your bonus round, respectively.
Free Spins
During this part of the game, reels three, four, and five are completely filled by a 3×3 expanding wild symbol. The wild has a varying multiplier between 2x and 10x which is decided at the start of each set of free spins and remains in play for the duration of the feature, including any re-triggers. Because of this, a 2x feature is obviously far less lucrative than a 10x one, and this does make it very disappointing if you hit a bad multiplier after waiting a long time for a bonus to trigger.
At the end of each set of eight free spins, there is a chance for the bonus round to randomly re-trigger. This feature is guaranteed to occur if your winnings have not yet surpassed 18x your total bet after your final free spin.
Bonus Buy
If available within your country or jurisdiction, there’s an option to purchase a set of free spins at the cost of 100x the normal price per spin. The number of triggering bonus symbols is determined randomly after making your purchase.
Pros
- Interesting game format – you don’t see many 5x3 slots with five paylines.
- Higher than-average payline wins – you would expect that from a five-line game, however!
- Bonus guarantee of 18x the total bet ensures you never walk away with nothing after a feature.
Cons
- Five lines make it much more challenging to hit a win than other online slots.
- Average jackpot of just 5,000x the total bet.
Lamp of Infinity Slot Review Final Thoughts
Lamp of Infinity truly is a mixed bag – there are a few positive aspects to it, but I couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed by the game overall. The bonus round is fantastic, and if I were able to use the bonus buy facility here in the UK, then I’d probably like this game quite a bit more – as it stands, it’s average at best.
