Le Pharaoh (Hacksaw Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

One of the best slot releases to come out of the HackSaw Gaming studio in recent years was Le Bandit, a slot themed around Smokey, a pesky French thief who spent his time lurking around the backstreets of Paris looking for tourists to scam. The theme alone is a unique one, but the slot itself became one of the developer’s most popular. Well, I’m excited to tell you that today, we finally have a sequel, Le Pharaoh, a slot that once again follows Smokey, who is on the run from the law, having been caught in the act of his dastardly deeds, and has now fled to the land of the Pyramids, Egypt. Le Pharaoh is a 6×5 slot with 19 paylines, a 96.18% RTP, and an improved maximum win of 15,000x the stake.

While the theme follows from the Le Bandit slot, the mechanics and features have been overhauled for Le Pharaoh. For starters, the cluster pays mechanic has been replaced by paylines, while the bonus features are different, too. There is a Sticky Re-Drops feature that can drop cash prizes of up to 500x, which can also receive boosts via Clover symbols that could add to those prizes or multiply them by up to 20x. The slot also boasts a handful of bonus games, three of which are free spins bonus games and two others that are hold & win games. Finally, you get a handful of bonus buy options you can use, something which is common with most modern Hacksaw Gaming releases.

If you’re a fan of Le Bandit, you’ll probably want to catch up with what Smokey is getting up to; if not, you should check it out anyway. We have provided the free-to-play Le Pharaoh slot demo below.

Le Bandit was a huge success for Hacksaw Gaming, so it’s no surprise the studio is trying to cash in on it by creating a sequel. I’d certainly put it in my top ten slots from the developer, and I’d wager most players would do the same. I’d have it alongside the likes of RIP City, Wanted Dead or a Wild, Wild, 2 Wild 2 Die, and Chaos Crew as my favourite slots from Hacksaw Gaming. With that in mind, if Le Pharaoh is anywhere near as good as the original, we could be talking about yet another classic.

The first step to finding out is checking out the slot’s paytable. Now, I should point out that the symbol payouts are understandably low due to everything else that can occur during spins, such as the Re-Drops and multipliers. The Scarab and the Wild symbols share a 3x the stake return for 6-symbol combinations, the Ankh and Horus symbols are worth up to 2x, and the Candy Cane and Sand Timer return a maximum of 1.5x. As for the low pays, the Ace and King have a maximum return of 0.7x, and the Queen, Jack, and Ten all reward up to 0.6x.

The minimum/maximum permitted bets on Le Pharaoh have been set at €0.10 and €100.00 per spin, respectively. Several other well-placed betting options are available between those limits, providing entry points for players of all sized budgets.

The 6×5 reel configuration found on Le Bandit returns for Le Pharaoh, but the significant change is we now have 19 paylines to find our winning combinations rather than a cluster pays mechanic. Those combos form and payout once three or more matching symbols land across a payline from left to right.

Sticky Re-Drops

When those combinations form, the symbols involved are given a Golden Background and remain sticky while there is a Re-Drop for all other positions. If the winning combo is improved as a result of the Re-Drop, or another combo is created, those symbols also lock in place alongside the others for another Re-Drop. That process continues until none of the combinations are improved or new ones are created. Rainbow and free spin symbols can also land during the Re-Drops, which remain sticky on the reels until a new spin commences.

Golden Riches

If a Rainbow symbol is on the reels at the end of the Sticky Re-Drop feature, the Golden Riches feature triggers. All the positions on the reels with a Golden Background will each reveal one of the following:

  • Bronze Coins: These hold instant prizes as a multiplier of the stake of 0.2x, 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 3x, or 4x.
  • Silver Coins: These hold instant prizes as a multiplier of the stake of 5x, 10x, 15x, or 20x.
  • Gold Coins: These hold instant prizes as a multiplier of the stake of 25x, 50x, 100x, 250x, or 500x.
  • Green Clovers: These multiply the values of adjacent Coin or Pots of Gold symbols by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, or 20x.
  • Golden Clovers: These multiply the values of all Coin or Pots of Gold symbols by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, or 20x.
  • Pot of Gold Symbol: These collect the values of all coins and any other Pot of Gold symbols on the reels and hold that combined value. All the now empty Golden Highlighted positions reveal another set of symbols, and the process continues until no further Pot of Gold symbols land.

Le Pharaoh slot bonus features

You can trigger three bonus games on Le Pharaoh and Super variations of two of them:

  • When three scatter symbols appear anywhere in view, you can choose between the Luck of the Pharaoh and Lost Treasures bonus games.
  • When four scatters land, you can choose between the Super variations of the Luck of the Pharaoh and Lost Treasures bonus games.
  • Five scatter symbols trigger the Rainbow Over the Pyramids bonus game.

Luck of the Pharoah ( Standard & Super Free Spins )

  • Standard Bonus: You receive 10 free spins, and the Golden Highlighted Squares remain sticky on the reels until the end of the bonus. Landing 2 or three free spins scatter symbols rewards an additional 2 or 4 spins, respectively.
  • Super Bonus: You receive 12 free spins with all the same benefits as the standard bonus. However, there is a greater chance of landing high-value coins and the Pots of Gold, while the Clover symbol is guaranteed to land whenever the Golden Riches feature triggers.

Lost Treasures ( Standard & Super Bonus Game )

As for the Lost Treasures bonus game, this is a little more complex, so let’s start with the standard version and go from there.

The game takes place on a new set of reels, and you’re given 3 re-spins, which reset whenever the following symbols land:

  • The Coins, Clover, and Golden Pot symbols, as described in the previous bonus game.
  • Adding Stone Tablets: These add a multiplier value to a random coin on every spin of between 1x and 500x.
  • Multiplying Stone Tablets: These multiply the value of a random coin on every spin by between 2x and 20x.

Each time any of the above symbols lands, the re-spins counter resets to three. The bonus ends when that counter reaches zero or all positions are filled with special symbols. All the values are added and multiplied by your current stake to calculate your winnings.

In the super variation of this bonus game, you get the same thing, except an Adding Stone tablet is guaranteed to land on the first spin, and there is a better chance of landing higher-value coins and pots of gold symbols.

Rainbow Over The Pyramids Bonus Game

This bonus game is identical to the Luck of the Pharaoh bonus game, except in this one, a Rainbow Symbol is guaranteed to land on every spin.

Bonus Buy

  • BonusHunt FeatureSpins: In return for 3x the current stake, you’ll spin with 5 times the chance of triggering a free spins bonus.
  • Rainbow FeatureSpins: For 60x the current spin bet, every spin will produce a winning combination and a Rainbow symbol.
  • Standard Bonus Games: 100x buys you the choice of the Luck of the Pharaoh or Lost Treasures bonus games.
  • Super Bonus Games: In return for 250x, you will receive the choice of the Super variations of the Luck of the Pharaoh or Lost Treasures bonus games.

Pros

  • Worthy of a place among Hacksaw Gaming’s finest slots.
  • More bonus features than the original and a boosted 15,000x the stake maximum win.

Cons

  • Being picky, I know, but I was hoping for higher volatility.

Le Pharaoh Slot Review Final Thoughts

Le Bandit is among my favourite slots from any developer, so getting my hands on the sequel was something I’ve anticipated ever since I knew this slot was in the works. Nerves set in, too, as often sequels are not as good as the original. However, in this case, I’d say Le Pharaoh is just as good, if not better, than the original. I’d probably lean toward Le Pharaoh at a push, mainly because of the increased maximum win and even more bonus features than before.
