The RTP is fine at 96.55%, but the maximum win of just 5,000x your bet seems a little on the low side for a Megaways game.
All winning combinations that land on the reels of Legend of Heroes will be removed from play immediately, creating fresh space where new symbols can “tumble” into view. This feature has several names depending on which developer has made the game, but the key thing about tumbling/rolling/cascading reels is that they allow you to win several times from every paid spin. A “big wild” feature can randomly create full stacks of wilds on any spin, both in the base game and during free spins. Speaking of those free spins, you’ll need four or more scatter symbols to trigger them and can win up to 30 free spins if you hit the maximum trigger of nine scatter symbols.

Legend Of Heroes Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The theme of Legend of Heroes appears to be a mix between Far Eastern culture and superheroes. For me, the characters who appear on the reels of this game look a lot like the “champions” available in e-sports video games such as Overwatch and League of Legends. I can’t think of any other online slots to compare to right now, but there are dozens of games based on more conventional superheroes, such as Spiderman, Superman, and Batman. However, the trouble with licensed games is that they tend to disappear when the license expires. For that reason alone, I have no issue with Pragmatic Play sticking to its own characters in this game.
The numbers shown on the Megaways games paytables often do not represent the winnings on offer. This is an unavoidable consequence of the Megaways slot mechanics. If you can potentially win on thousands of pay ways simultaneously, it’s evident that the payout for each of those ways is going to be lower than those offered by a ten-pay line game. The highest-paying symbol in Legend of Heroes is the yellow male character who will pay you 20x the current stake for a full pay way of six-of-a-kind, but he is a definite outlier here. For example, the second-placed blue character will only pay you 5x your bet for all six symbols – just a quarter of the payout attributed to the yellow character. The purple female is next, paying just 2.5x for a full pay way of her symbols, whilst the green character is the final high-paying symbol and will return 2x your bet for a six-of-a-kind combination.
You can choose to bet from as little as €0.20 per round, all the way up to a maximum of €100.00 if you have money to burn! I’m deadly serious there, by the way – you seriously should not be betting those sorts of amounts every couple of seconds on a highly volatile slot machine such as this.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game doesn’t have much in the way of unique features or elements, unfortunately. It’s a six-reel setup, the first and last of which can divide into up to seven segments, whilst reels two through five will divide into up to six segments on each spin. An additional horizontal row is positioned over the centre four reels, adding the missing seventh segment and providing the additional positions necessary for that familiar maximum pay way count of 117,649.
Wild & Big Wild Symbols
All wild symbols will only appear on reels two through five, whilst the “big wild” symbol is restricted to only the top row of those reels. The big wild feature is a double-wide symbol and will only trigger the big wild feature if the symbol lands fully in view. Should one half of the big wild be cut off, it will behave just like a regular wild symbol.
When the big wild symbol does land fully in view, it will cause two full stacks of wilds to appear directly underneath the reels. When the big wild creates a winning combination, it will randomly move to a new position on the top row during the following tumble.
Legend Of The Heroes Megaways Slot Bonus Features
The scatter symbols are somewhat unusual in Legend of Heroes because it is possible to hit more than one of them on each reel during a single spin. It feels like this should make the bonus round a little easier to hit, but you require a minimum of four scatters before the free spins are triggered.
The number of triggering scatter symbols determines the number of free spins awarded during the bonus round. The minimum of four symbols will award ten free spins, increasing by four additional spins for every extra scatter symbol up to a maximum of 30 free spins for nine scatters.
Free Spins
Before the bonus round begins, a bonus wheel will be shown, allowing you to gamble your free spins to win more. A single loss on the bonus wheel will result in losing all free spins – you will not simply drop to the next lowest number of spins.
Your chances of winning additional free spins increase as you continue to win more; for example, your odds of moving from 10 to 14 free spins are 62.81%, whilst the odds of moving from 14 to 18 free spins increase to 70.39%. The game will only allow you to gamble up to a maximum of 22 free spins – the 26 and 30 free spin bonus rounds can only be won organically by hitting the scatters in the base game.
It is possible to win four more free spins by hitting three more scatters while the bonus round is in play. However, this seems quite a rare event, as I never saw it occur while I tested this game.
Legend Of Heroes Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts
Referring back to the opening paragraph, Megaways slots are a dime a dozen right now, and Legend of Heroes isn’t my favourite of the many I have tried and tested during the past month. It’s a fun game, but many other Megaways games allow you to win more than 5,000x your bet whilst offering a more exciting feature set than the one provided here. Overall, Legend of Heroes is a somewhat average release for Pragmatic Play.
