See, nowhere else in the country has anything even remotely comparable – Manchester and Newcastle have public transit of some description, but neither comes close to matching the sheer scale and flexibility of the London Tube. As far as I’m aware, this new game from Red Tiger is the first slot machine to attempt to tap into the public fascination with the Underground, and it’s a 1,024 pay way game that sports a 96% RTP alongside a somewhat tame jackpot of 2,100x the total bet.
As for features, the game includes a ‘train arrival’ aspect which is automatically invoked on every tenth spin. The roundel symbol is present on all five reels and will leave behind a golden frame each time it appears. When the train arrives, it will convert each visible golden frame into wilds, multipliers, or instant cash prizes. The main bonus round is a typical free spins feature that sees you taking a trip across the network – every third spin marks a station stop, and you’ll be treated to many additional roundels during your journey.

London Tube Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I would never have guessed that trains would prove to be such a popular theme for online slots, but the success of Relax Gaming’s now iconic Money Train series has seen the concept move from niche to mainstream – and far beyond. It’s somewhat surprising that we haven’t seen any games based on the London Underground before – perhaps we’ll even see a licensed game at some point? Let’s just hope that they don’t base it on the Northern Line!
The highest-paying symbols available on London Tube are the Police officers, who will pay you 4x the total bet for a full payway of five of a kind. That’s not very exciting really, and of course, things only go downhill from there; the headphones-wearing guy in a baseball cap will pay you 3x for all five symbols, whilst the lady in a red hat is worth 2x for a complete payway. There are two more ‘high pays’ – one female and one male, with payouts of 1.6x and 1.4x, respectively. That just leaves the five royal symbols to make up the remainder of the paytable, which have returns ranging from 0.4x for five tens up to 1x the current stake for a set of five aces.
The betting range is relatively wide by Red Tiger’s usual standards, with minimum/maximum limits of €0.10 and €40.00 per spin, respectively. There’s a decent range of intermediate wagers available too, although not as many as I would like towards the upper end of the spectrum. I guess that developers must believe that if you can afford to bet as much as €40.00 per spin, you’ll probably not care too much about these arbitrary restrictions!
Base Game & Modifiers
The basic gameplay of London Tube utilises a 5×4 playfield with a total of 1,024 ways to win. This means that you only need to match three or more symbols on adjacent reels starting from the left to score a win, and a large number of pay ways ensures that wins occur with relative frequency. Unfortunately, most wins obtained in this way are unremarkable at best – the instant prizes tend to be much more generous.
Tube Symbols
Above the reels, you’ll see a counter indicating the number of spins before the next train is due. During regular play, the roundel symbol (named ‘tube symbol in the game’s documentation) can appear on any reel during any spin and leave behind a golden frame each time. If a roundel symbol lands within one of these frames, it will create a new golden frame in an alternative random position.
Train Arrival Feature
Just like clockwork, the train is sure to arrive on every tenth base game spin! Yes, this is one train network where the services are never late – better yet, they pay you for the privilege of being on the platform when they arrive!
Whenever a train pulls up to the station, it will activate one of three features – all golden frames may be transformed into wild symbols or enhanced with multipliers of 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x, or 10x. The third feature will cause all golden frames to transform into instant cash prizes – these can be worth 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, or 50x the total bet.
London Tube Slot Bonus Features
Three or more bonus scatter symbols will trigger the free spins bonus round. A three-scatter trigger will award nine free spins, whilst four or five scatters will increase this to 12 or 15 free spins, respectively.
Free Spins
At the start of each bonus round, the game will add three golden frames to the playfield in random positions. These frames will move to a new location at the start of every free spin, and the game will award wilds, cash prizes, or ways multipliers randomly after each spin for every framed position.
When a scatter lands during a free spin, it will move you to the next station. Your progress along the track is represented above the reels on a meter, with every third station marked with the word ‘BONUS’. Reaching these bonus stations will award you one of the following bonuses:
- Between three and five additional free spins
- One or two additional golden frames for the remainder of the feature
- Win multiplier increased by 1x, 2x, or 3x.
During one particularly lucky set of free spins, I managed to alternate between winning extra spins and 3x multipliers with every bonus station I reached. I still only won a couple of hundred times my bet though – I can’t imagine how lucky you would need to be to come close to the games advertised jackpot of 2,100x!

Final Thoughts
This is a great idea for a slot, and if you enjoy lower-variance machines, then I’m sure you’ll enjoy giving the game a try. Unfortunately, this isn’t the kind of game I enjoy myself. However, if the 2,100x jackpot doesn’t bother you though, then be sure to give London Tube a look.
