Luck O’ The Irish Gold Spins Fortune Play (Blueprint) Slot Demo & Review

I’m not entirely sure where the traditional association with the Irish and luck comes from, but I guess it might have something to do with the leprechauns. You know what, let’s ask our best friend Google and see what it knows on this topic “During the gold and silver rush years of the second half of the 19th century, many of the most successful miners were of Irish and American Irish descent” Strange how you never hear anybody say ‘Luck of the American’ then, isn’t it?

Anecdotal thoughts aside, there are a few things to unpack regarding Blueprint Gaming’s new Luck of the Irish Gold Spins Fortune Play machine. First, the games use 40 fixed paylines, or 40 per reel set, when the Fortune Play mode is activated. The RTP stands at 94.45% in all game modes, but there are also around 0.5% contributions towards the games’ three progressive jackpots. The most valuable of those progressive re-seeds at €5000.00, whilst the top win is listed as €250,000 or 50,000x the total bet, whichever comes first.

The fortune play mode is the headline feature in this game, which is why it is included in the title, but the progressive jackpots are arguably the most exciting aspect of the machine. There’s a free spin bonus round with enhanced reels available, too, although this cannot be won from the Fortune Play mode, meaning I rarely saw it during my testing of the slot. As ever, we have a free demo of Luck of the Irish Gold Spins Fortune Play available to play below.

The Luck of the Irish slots have been around for a while now; the last one we looked at here at Demoslot was titled Luck of the Irish – Big Bonus, scoring 7.7 out of 10 in our recent review. All of these games feature plenty of traditional Irish imagery – think plenty of greens, rainbows, and leprechauns, and you’ll be on the right track. This style of slot was arguably popularised by SG Gaming’s Rainbow Riches franchise which has since developed into an absolute juggernaut of the online slots industry. The Luck of the Irish games have much better payouts than the Rainbow Riches games, in my experience, but they also come with far higher volatility, meaning you should probably only tackle these games when your bankroll is looking reasonably healthy!

The highest-paying symbols on the paytable are all represented by lucky sevens. A triple lucky seven will bag you 25x your total bet whenever a full payline of five of a kind forms on the reel set, followed by the double lucky seven at 7.5x and the regular lucky seven at 6x. There are two more high-paying symbols represented by gold coins – one set appears in a sack, whilst the other is just a few stacks of coins solo, but both share identical returns of 5x for a complete payline. Finally, all the low-paying royal symbols share the same return of 2.5x for a five-of-a-kind winning combination.

In the normal game mode, the minimum/maximum betting limits have been set at €0.20 and €10.00, respectively. I would have expected these limits to be raised significantly in the fortune play mode, and whilst the minimum bet has indeed been increased to €2.00, the maximum remains the same at €10.00 per round.

Base Game & Modifiers

Luck O' The Irish Gold Spins Fortune Play Slot Base Game
Luck O’ The Irish gold spins fortune play slot base game

The original Luck of the Irish online slot used a traditional 5×3 playfield, whilst this Gold Spins Fortune Play variant opts for a slightly stretched layout with four rows instead. In addition, the larger reel set has 40 paylines attached, with all winning combinations requiring at least three matching symbols on a payline.

Gamble Option

Blueprint has included a pie gamble feature in this machine, which is my favourite type of gamble! The green area shown on the pie chart is a true representation of the odds of winning a higher prize, and you can also opt to trade your winnings for free spins if they are large enough.

Luck O’ The Irish Gold Spins Fortune Play Slot Bonus Features

In the regular game mode, hitting three pots of gold scatter symbols anywhere on the reels will award eight free spins. The ‘Jackpot King’ progressive feature can activate randomly on any game round, whilst the Fortune Play mode must be activated manually before beginning to play.

Free Spins

The free spins feature is enhanced with additional lucky seven, double lucky seven, triple lucky seven, and wild symbols. Unfortunately, the free spins cannot be won during the fortune play mode, and the progressive jackpot feature does not activate during this part of the game either. Fortunately, the wins offered in this part of the game are much larger than those offered in the base game!

Fortune Play Mode

Activating the fortune play option will add three additional reel sets to the screen. In this mode, wilds appear in stacks rather than as single symbols, and all wilds that land on one reel set will be immediately copied onto all other sets after landing on the screen.

These changes make the Fortune Play mode much more exciting than the normal mode, but it’s a shame that the top bet has not been increased to match the higher number of reel sets that are in play.

Jackpot King Progressive Bonus

The Jackpot King feature is a highlight of many Blueprint slots and offers three different progressive prizes that reseed at up to €5000.00. The top ‘jackpot king’ prize frequently reaches into the millions, which is an awesome amount of cash to receive if you’re the one lucky enough to win it.

Luck O’ The Irish Gold Spins Fortune Play Slot Review Final Thoughts

This is a fun variant of the Luck of the Irish franchise, but it doesn’t play like the original game, as wins are not awarded for sets of adjacent symbols appearing anywhere on the reel set. The fortune play mode is a highlight, and it’s worth checking this game out for that alone.
