Lucky Cloverland Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
There is no denying that leprechauns got their start in the online slots market with Rainbow Riches, a game by SG Gaming that was later developed into a franchise and remains a popular slot to this day. The original rainbow riches didn’t have the biggest wins, but it did have three distinct bonus rounds, each of which was fun and exciting. As it was a reasonably low variance machine, as long as you played at a reasonable bet size for your bankroll, you could usually get a decent session out of a relatively small amount of money. Then came the clones… endless, endless clones by every developer.
We’re about to review one such game here, so we won’t talk too much about the mountain of Rainbow Riches clones, but I do think it’s worth mentioning just what a behemoth this franchise became – Slingo Rainbow Riches was a combination of characteristics of the original game mixed with elements of the extremely popular Slingo Originals format. There had to be a Megaways version, of course, then the three-reel version titled “Reels of Gold”. And finally, my favourite version – Rainbow Riches Pick’n’Mix, that can end up with an RTP of 98% if you pick the right combination of features. Being able to choose the features you enjoy and remove the rest from the reels was a master stroke by SG Gaming and not something that Endorphina could try and compete with here – I have a feeling they will go their own way, despite the heritage that the Rainbow Riches series has built.
This moves us on nicely to the paytable, which is hidden behind an “I” symbol in the top-right corner of the screen that you might not easily spot depending on your display’s brightness and contrast settings. The leprechaun takes pride of place at the top of the paytable with a return of 25x your stake for five-of-a-kind, followed by the four leaf clover, which suffers a huge drop down to 7.5x your stake – it’s easy to see where the RTP is located in this slot. The lucky horseshoe pays 5x your stake for a full payline, as does the mug of mead, after which you have the terrible paying royal symbols and…. A tasty bonus scatter! So many games now choose not to reward players for hitting scatters, and I wouldn’t say I like this convention which looks like it will take over the regular slots market. Still, Endorphina is having none of that with a payout of 250x your bet for five scatters, 40x for four, and 2x for three.
Finally, the betting range in the Lucky Cloverland online slot begins at €0.40 per spin and tops out at €400.00(!) per spin. That’s some serious money to be betting every few seconds. Personally, I think that anything much over €4.00 per spin is madness, and you’ll need a serious bankroll – at least €400, preferably €800, to play at that level.
Base Game & Modifiers
The Lucky Cloverland slot game is a five-reel, four-row online slot with 40 fixed paylines. All prizes are awarded for hitting combinations of matching symbols from left to right, except for the scatters that pay anywhere on the screen. The paytable updates to reflect what you will win based on your current bet size – an easy thing to code in, but something that other developers decide not to include for some reason. It’s great to see Endorphina taking the time to add this important piece of presentational quality.
Wild Symbols
I’m including this here just so that there is SOMETHING rather than nothing in this section – it’s a little bit disappointing that there are no modifiers or base game features in Lucky Cloverland, but this seems to be the way Endorphina likes to work.
Wild symbols appear on reels two, three, and four in stacks, giving you a better chance of hitting a win from these symbols than you might otherwise.
Lucky Cloverland Slot Free Spins Feature
The free games feature is what it’s all about in the Lucky Cloverland video slot – to make our way here; you will need to hit three or more BONUS scatter symbols, which can earn you a prize of up to 250x your bet as well as seven free spins with a few little twists.
The feature begins with a random symbol selected as the Extra Wild for this bonus round. Only one symbol can be chosen, but this feature means that you finally have wilds on all five reels, and with 40 pay lines, you can win some serious money during this feature! The best combination possible using the symbols on the paytable yields a return of 2,500x your bet. If you ever manage to hit more than one of these combinations in a single bonus round, I hope you are recording!
Gamble Feature
This is a dangerous one – it’s an all-or-nothing gamble that will either double your winnings or leave you with nothing. Caution is advised with this one – you can end up with ludicrous amounts of money, but if that next gamble fails, it’s all gone. I think it is best to avoid this type of feature altogether.
