Lucky Mr Wild Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
The theme of this slot is somewhat meta in that it is styled after the interior of a land-based casino. The base game appears to be set on top of a blackjack (or other table game) table, and the reels are surrounded by chips, cash, playing cards, and whiskey tumblers. On the reel set, there are several characters you might find inside a casino – a happy looking fellow in a suit waving his pocket rockets about, a blonde babe hugging the microphone, a jazz musician with his sax – you get the idea! Overall, the theme feels coherent and well-executed, and the graphics and overall presentation match the quality of slots produced by larger tier-one developers.
However, when I reached the paytable, my first impressions began to sour somewhat. The highest-paying symbol out of the bunch is the player with his pair of Aces, but he’ll only benefit you to the tune of 1x your bet for every completed pay way of five-of-a-kind. The blonde babe is worth 0.8x for all five of her symbols, whilst a male patron sipping a martini has a return of 0.6x for a complete payway. The jazz musician is worth 0.4x for all five symbols, whilst a dark-haired female, who I’m guessing is standing by the roulette wheel, completes the picture symbol line-up with a payout of 0.3x for five-of-a-kind. These are obviously not the greatest numbers we may have hoped for. Still, all of these symbols primarily appear as stacks on the reels, meaning every winning combination is likely to feature at least a dozen or more winning pay ways. The 4x multiplier on the bonus wheel can also help to boost the value of your returns, but I still can’t help but feel a tad disappointed when I look at these numbers.
You select your wager by choosing a “coin” size, which is multiplied by 50 to give the total bet per spin. This means that the lowest price per spin is €0.50, which may be a tad too high for those with very small bankrolls. At the other end of the scale, the maximum bet of €25.00 should be enough to satisfy the majority of players.
Base Game & Modifiers
The base game of the Lucky Mr Wild video slot utilises an unusually shaped reel set with three rows on the first and last reels and four rows on reels two, three, and four. This 3-4-4-4-3 layout produces 576 possible payways from left to right, so you only need to land three or more matching symbols starting from the left to bag some winnings.
Feature Wheel
The bonus or feature wheel is displayed on the left of the main reel set and will be set in motion each time you hit the spin button and start a new round. The wheel has several possible outcomes:
- Character Segments – All five high-paying picture symbols are represented on the bonus wheel, and landing on any of these segments will transform all matching symbols currently in view into wilds before your win is calculated.
- Re-Spin – All winning combinations and free spin symbols will be locked in place before the remaining reels are given a free re-spin for the chance to land extra scatters or increase the number of winning pay ways.
- Bonus – Hitting this segment will take you to the Three Card Poker bonus game – more details in the next section.
- Blank – No action.
Note that the feature wheel does NOT spin during a free re-spin, so it is impossible to keep on hitting re-spins; you get one extra shot, and that’s your lot!
Lucky Mr Wild Slot Bonus Features
There are two main bonus rounds in Lucky Mr Wild. The free spins feature is triggered by hitting five or more “free spins” scatter symbols anywhere on the reels, whilst the Three Card Poker bonus game is won each time the feature wheel lands on the “BONUS” segment.
Free Spins
The number of free spins awarded is determined by the number of triggering scatter symbols. During my testing of this game, the maximum number of scatters I managed to hit was seven, meaning seven free spins. The paytable states that you can win up to 18 free spins, but this would require a full screen of triggering symbols – a tall order, in my opinion!
All “blank” segments on the feature wheel are replaced in this mode by additional character or re-spin segments. The Three Card Poker bonus cannot be won during free spins, so the BONUS segment is removed and replaced with an additional RE-SPIN segment.
Three Card Poker Bonus Game
Hitting the BONUS segment on the feature wheel will whisk you off to the Three Card Poker Bonus Game, which takes place at a different table from the base game. You will then be asked to select three playing cards from a total of nine displayed near the top of the screen.
A separate paytable shows returns of up to 1,500x your bet for a straight flush, with smaller payouts for three-of-a-kind (1,300x), a straight (100x), flush (70x), pair (20x), or a high card (5x). The Three Card Poker theme makes this bonus game feel a little more interesting, but it is nothing more than a “Pick Me” bonus.
Not every win on the paytable will be possible from each entry into the bonus game, and the outcome is likely decided before you even begin choosing cards. Not that it makes any difference – I hit the flush twice during my testing, and 70x is not a bad return for a mini bonus game.
Lucky Mr Wild Slot Review Final Thoughts
I wasn’t sure what to expect from Lucky Mr Wild, but I’m pleased to report that this is a solid release for Lady Luck Games, and one that I would recommend you try if you can find it available for real money play. The presentation could be improved slightly, but apart from that one minor niggle, this is a winner for Lady Luck Games.
