Mammoth Gold Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
In all fairness, Mammoth Gold Megaways isn’t the most blatant copy of the Buffalo Gold games I have seen! That honour must surely go to Playtech’s Buffalo Blitz, which even went as far as to copy the visual styling of every symbol on the paytable… now that’s cheeky! Pragmatic Play’s own Buffalo King online slot is also eerily similar and is probably my favourite of the Buffalo clones. The truth is that you really can’t blame developers for creating these games, considering that the best variants of Buffalo Gold have never been released to the online market.
The paytable features six high-paying symbols, starting with the Mammoth, which has a return of 5x the current bet for a full payway of six of a kind. The tiger is worth 3x your bet for all six symbols, followed by the wolf at 2x, the boar at 1x, the bear at 0.75x, and finally, a toucan, also at 0.75x. That’s a wonderfully eclectic collection of animals you have put together, Pragmatic Play! The low-paying symbols are represented by the four playing card suits; Spades and Hearts will each pay you 0.6x for six-of-a-kind, whilst the Clubs and Diamonds offer slightly less at 0.5x.
Mammoth Gold Megaways includes the usual three-way bet selection system featured in Pragmatic Play’s other machines, giving you excellent granular control over your bet size. The minimum/maximum wager limits are set at €0.20 and €100.00 per spin, respectively.
Base Game & Modifiers
Most of us know what to expect from a Megaways slot by now – there are generally six reels, the first and last of which can divide into up to seven individual segments, whilst the centremost four divide into up to six segments each. An additional horizontal reel is positioned above reels two through five, creating a combined total of up to seven segments on all six reels.
Wild Multiplier Feature
Wild symbols have a multiplier of 2x or 3x, which will be applied not only to the combination where it lands but also to any additional combinations that occur during the current spin.
If more wild symbols appear because of the tumbling symbols feature, the multiplier value of the new wild will be added to those of any previous winning combinations. The total multiplier value will be reset to 1x at the end of each paid spin.

Hitting three or more bonus symbols will trigger the free spin bonus round. The number of free spins awarded is determined randomly at the beginning of each feature, but the minimum number will increase according to the number of triggering scatter symbols. The maximum number of free spins which may be awarded is 14.
Free Spins
Before the feature begins, the game will offer you the chance to gamble for additional free spins. The more spins you have, the greater your chances are of winning the gamble, but a single loss will cause you to forfeit the entire bonus round.
During free spins, any wild symbols which appear as part of a winning combination will have their multiplier values retained in a meter. The current value of the meter will then be multiplied by the value of the next wild symbol which lands, causing an exponential increase in overall multiplier value. The wild multiplier meter is not reset between free spins, and the feature can be re-triggered indefinitely!
Bonus Buy
The free spins feature of Mammoth Gold has an amazing amount of potential, so it’s nice to see that Pragmatic Play has included a bonus buy facility which allows you to skip directly to the bonus round.
The cost to purchase a set of free spins is 100x the normal cost per spin, and the number of triggering scatters is determined randomly at the beginning of each bonus round.

Just when you thought Megaways slots couldn’t get any crazier, Pragmatic Play ups the ante even further! My only gripe with Mammoth Gold Megaways has to be the jackpot cap of 10,000x the current stake – lots of Megaways slots can pay out much more than this, and I suspect that more than a handful of players are going to run into this limit given the huge amount of potential available offered by the bonus round!
