Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
So Greek Mythology and fantasy are the order of the day as far as the theme is concerned on Maze Escape Megaways™. The setting is what we think is an ancient city, and with the dramatic music that accompanies your gameplay, it gives the feeling of a slot that is ready to burst into action.
Moving on to the paytbale, we can see the low value symbols are made up by the greek letters Lambda, Theta and Omega. The Medium value symbols comprise of axes, the golden wrath and the helmet, whilst the premium paying symbols are reserved for King Minos, Daedalus and Icarus, where a 6 of kind win will pay 2x, 2.5, and 3x respectively.

We always love to get stuck into a Fantasma slot review as you know you’re going to be in for something a little different, and this is again the case with Maze Escape Megaways™. The initial gameplay begins with 6 reels, where up to 7 symbols can appear on them when the reels are spun. All other positions that do not show a symbol are known as blockers, with it being possible to unlock these blocks to create more chances of winning.
The key position to look out for when playing the base game is the centre position on reel 1, which has a golden frame around it. Whichever symbol lands within this position, is what you are hoping to make a winning connection with, as it then unlocks the shifting maze avalanche mechanic.
When this activates, all symbols are removed from the grid, except the ones that are a part of the winning combination. They will be moved into the centre positions as path symbols, like in our example above, and then all reels will shift one position to the left and two of the blocker symbols will also be removed. New symbols will then drop down, and as long as you continue to make a winning connection the process will continue.
Maze Escape Megaways™ Modifiers
There are 2 modifiers that can be triggered in both the base game and the free spin feature on Maze Escape Megaways™, with these providing some additional chances for you create some winning connections. These modifiers are contained within the blocker symbols and if activated you will be awarded one of the following.
- Helmet Blocker ( Guidance of Athena ) – When activated this feature will place 1 – 4 path symbols on empty positions on the reels before the new symbols drop down.
- Minotaur Blocker ( Minotaur Wild Feature ) – If this modifier is triggered, then the Minotaur will cover the entire reel it is on with a random multiplier of between 2x – 7x attached to it. If there are more than 2 of these multipliers, then they will multiply each other.
Maze Escape Megaways™ Free Spin Feature
To the left hand side of the reels you will notice a stone block that has three positions in it. These will hold the coins that can appear on within the gird, and if you can collect 3 in one series of spins, then you will trigger the free spin feature and be awarded with 10 Labyrinth free spins.
As the free spins begin you will note that the entire left reel is now filled with golden frames, so if you can make any winning connection, then it will position your symbols into the path, and activate the shifting maze avalanche mechanic. You will also see that there is a win multiplier in play, this can be seen to the right hand side of the reels and will start with a value of x1.
During the bonus round an additional modifier block is added which is the labyrinth blocker, if this is smashed whilst you are unlocking more symbols, then it can reward you with either +1, +2, or +3 extra spins, as well as more multiplier values in the form of x1, x2 and x3.

It’s fair to say that Fantasma Megaways™ slots always require a little more brain power when you play them for the first time. But after a few spins you soon realise that they are not as complicated as you first thought. This was certainly the case with other slots in their portfolio such as Flower Fortunes Megaways™, but sometimes it pays to be a little different from the other games that are out there on the market.
Fantasy and Greek Mythology was also a solid choice in our opinion to base a slot on, with lots of players enjoying that style of theme and the graphics and potential interesting bonus features that it brings with it.
