In greek mythology Medusa was one of 3 gorgons who actually started out life as a beautiful looking mortal. It was only after incurring the wrath of Athena that she was turned into the hideous looking creature that we know of today, who had live snakes in place of her once beautiful hair. In NextGen’s first Megaways outing they have decided to use the popular cascading reels feature, which players will have seen in countless other Megaways tittles over the years. For every winning combination that is achieved on the reels, those symbols that make up the win will be removed and replaced with new ones. This gives you the opportunity to string together several wins, and in the case of there being a lot of Megaways in play, this can potentially lead to some decent base game wins.
Medusa’s Gaze Feature
The Medusa’s Gaze feature may be triggered when one or more wild symbol appears on the upper reel. If this feature does trigger then Medusa will come down and cover the entire reel that she is above. After Medusa has covered the reel she will then return to the upper section, as she leaves, a random amount of wilds will be left on the reel. So ideally you would want the reel she covers to have as many positions on it available as possible. It should be noted that all symbols can be changed to a wild, expect for the scatter symbol. The Medusa Gaze feature may also be triggered during the free spins bonus round.
Medusa Megaways Slot Free Spins Feature
To trigger the free spins feature on Medusa Megaways you will need to land a minimum of 3 of the Medusa scatter symbols anywhere in view. If you do land 3, then you will be awarded with 10 free games and a starting win multiplier of x2, with each additional scatter symbol you trigger the bonus with adding a further 5 spins to the starting total.
Once your feature has begun, then your aim is to hit as many winning combinations as possible. This is because each time that you achieve a winning cascade, your multiplier value will increase by x1. Players should note that there are no limits as to what value the multiplier can reach.

Snake Strike Feature

Temptation Feature
The temptation feature is something that we haven’t seen on any other Megaways slot before, with this new addition to Medusa Megaways giving players the chance to forfeit their winning amount from the free spins, and play the feature again. This can only be done once per feature, so if you risk the lot and it then pays a much lower amount, then that will be the end of the bonus.
Bonus Buy Feature
NextGen Gaming have also decided to add a bonus buy to Medusa Megaways. So if you would like to get straight into the free spins feature then it will cost you 100x your stake. With this being their first Megaways slot, NextGen Gaming have stuck to a favourite and popular theme of theirs with the classic Medusa Slot. The Megaways mechanic seems to fit the slot well in general, and with their own personal touches added, NextGen have made a solid addition to both their own portfolio, and the ever growing catalogue of Megaways games.
I particularly liked the fact that they have added something completely new with the temptation feature, as this at least gives you another chance at glory if you’re unfortunate and hit a low paying bonus round. Of course this also carries a risk and it could pay you to not be too greedy, just in case you end up with one of the really low paying bonuses like I’ve had on several occasions.
