Mega Money (Red Rake Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

Here’s a question for you: how much online bingo is enough? Ask Red Rake Gaming that question, and I suspect they will tell you that you can never have too much! Why do I say this? Because the developer’s new Megamoney casino game is essentially just another method of playing bingo, making it a somewhat strange choice of side game to play alongside your normal rounds of Housey Housey! Perhaps there’s more to this than meets the eye, however – the standard RTP of Megamoney is 95.88%, far in excess of the 80% average offered by traditional online bingo.

Games like this are typically dubbed ‘video bingo’ and allow you to play up to four cards during each round. There’s no option to disable any of the four cards – your overall stake is always divided up equally between them. Whilst the RTP obviously takes this setup into account, I did sometimes find myself becoming frustrated by the fact that almost every round typically results in at least one or two cards failing to win – it’s a shame that Redrake didn’t include the ability to choose how many cards you wish to play. Megamoney also includes a bonus round triggered by matching the pattern labelled ‘bonus’ at the top of the screen – this works similarly to the 75-Ball bingo popular in the United States.

If you find yourself wanting for something a little different from your regular slots and casino games, this could be just the ticket! So – why not check out our free demo of Megamoney, available to play below?

Mega Money Graphics & Features

Mega Money Gameplay

Visually, Mega Money is a relatively simple casino game – that’s par for the course with many variants of online bingo but may cause the game to look somewhat drab to players of traditional online slots. As mentioned previously, the game works similarly to 75-Ball Bingo – across the top of the screen, you’ll see several patterns, each of which has a prize indicated directly below it. At the end of each round, the layout of your four cards will be analysed, and you’ll be paid the highest prize applicable to each one. This means that you can theoretically win up to four times during each round.

The various winning patterns offered in Megamoney do not change between rounds, allowing you to quickly learn them should you wish. This is ultimately pointless when playing on the higher speed settings where cards are filled in extremely fast, but it can make the game a lot of fun for those who prefer to keep things at a more pedestrian pace. The prizes attached to each pattern are also static – with the stake set to a round £1.00 per game, the lowest-paying patterns are worth just £0.75 each, but this quickly rises as you progress through patterns with a higher number of winning numbers. A full house will get you £375 per card, and with four cards always activated, this results in an overall jackpot of up to £1,500 per round.

When playing traditional online bingo, you’ll frequently find yourself with just one or two numbers left to go when another player calls out and steals away the prize for that round. That can be highly frustrating, and it’s a problem that Red Rake has attempted to deal with when playing Megamoney by offering the ability to purchase extra balls for an additional fee (similar to how Slingo operates). However, whilst this can often seem like an attractive option, keep in mind that doing so reduces the game’s RTP by around 2.5% – a significant drop which will certainly affect your long-term results if you use it often.

How To Play Mega Money

Mega Money Winning Game

Playing Megamoney is every bit as straightforward as traditional online bingo; simply choose your stake and then hit play, and the game will start to draw numbers. The default speed setting of the game is very fast – the entire round will be over in the blink of an eye. For that reason, I found the game much more fun after reducing the overall speed slightly, so each game lasted around 20 seconds rather than just one!

With the speed lowered slightly, I could also identify some special features I didn’t notice previously! For example, the game includes ‘wild balls’, which can act as substitutes for any number you wish – even those that simultaneously appear on all four of your cards.

Bonus Round

Should you manage to match the ‘bonus’ pattern displayed at the top of the screen on any of your four cards, the game will progress to a new phase which features increased payouts. The bonus round is a ‘pick me’ style bonus – you can keep picking new money bags indefinitely until you collect one revealing the text ‘exit’. It’s not fully clear from looking at the rules page, but as far as I can tell, it should be possible to win more than the standard jackpot of 1,500x the total bet via the bonus round.

Staking Options

The minimum/maximum permitted bets offered by Megamoney have been set at £0.20 and £60.00 per round, respectively. However, remember that this is always divided between the four cards visible on the screen.

Pros

  • This is a much faster game than traditional online bingo – perhaps a little too fast at its default setting!
  • Much higher RTP in comparison with regular bingo games.

Cons

  • The maximum possible win is not adequately explained within the information pages – why not tell us exactly how much we can win?!
  • The graphics are a little grey and simplistic for my taste.

Final Thoughts

Mega Money is sure to appeal to fans of other bingo/slot hybrid games, such as those produced by Slingo. Whilst this may initially seem like a strange choice of side game to play alongside online slots, don’t discount it without trying it – you might be surprised by just how much fun you can have!
