This isn’t actually Iron Dog’s first stab at a Megaways-based Jack and the Beanstalk online slot – the developer previously released a relatively similar game with the shortened title of Megaways Jack. Comparing the two games side-by-side, I couldn’t help but notice that Iron Dog’s presentation seems to have improved dramatically during the time between the releases of these games. Whilst the user interfaces are broadly similar, the graphics and symbols used in Megaways Jack & The Magic Beans look far better in terms of resolution, art style, and colour. To be honest, though, I still have a soft spot for the NetEnt version of Jack & The Beanstalk as far as the graphics are concerned. However, in terms of features and payouts, I think Iron Dog’s game may have the edge over its competitors!
Jack is the highest-paying symbol on the paytable of the game, and I initially thought that he had a very sizable payout considering that this is a Megaways game. Alas, the small print above the paytable reveals that the numbers shown need to be divided by ten to get the return as a multiple of stake – this feels a little bit sneaky to me! Alas, Jack turns out to only be worth 25x the total bet for a full payway of six of a kind, but that is somewhat better than the 8x return for six giants or 5x for a full payway of the female character. The duck will pay you 2.5x the total bet for six of its symbols, which is slightly better than the 2x return offered for six cows. As for the low pays, the aces and kings will win each award 1x the total bet for all six symbols, whilst the remaining royals are a little less valuable, with payouts ranging between 0.6x and 0.8x the total bet.
The minimum/maximum bets available in Megaways Jack & The Magic Bean have been set at €0.10 and €50.00, respectively. Like many other modern online slots, the upper end of that range, unfortunately, has very limited choices of intermediate bets available.

The most obvious change to the typical Megaways formula that Iron Dog has made with this slot is the removal of the top horizontal reel.
