I wouldn’t say there’s a massive collection of Merlin-themed slots out there, but this is definitely not the first time he has been the centre of attention on a slot game. I say he, but in one of my favourite Merlin slots, the wizard is portrayed by a woman. That’s the Lady Merlin slot from Boomerang Studios, a title offering the potential to nail down a max win of 20,000x the stake, which is double what’s on offer here. Moving onto the paytable of the latest Merlin slot to hit casino lobbies, I can tell you there are eight regular symbols, the most lucrative of which is the Yellow Dragon. Line up that symbol six times across consecutive reels, and you’ll receive 100x your stake. That’s a decent payout, but there’s a huge jump down to the next best symbols. The Red Dragon will return a maximum of 5x for six in a row, while the Green Dragon and Blue Dragon top out at 2.5x and 2x. A Spellbook and a Potion Bottle are the remaining premium symbols worth a maximum of 1.2x and 1x, respectively. The Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds, and Spades playing card symbols are the lower value symbols in the game and will return 0.9x, 0.7x, 0.6x, and 0.5x. As for the Wild Symbol, this only appears on the horizontal reel above the main reels and will substitute for all symbols except the scatter.

Merlin’s 10K Ways is played across a 6-reel and 4-row reel configuration that also features a 4-position horizontal reel above the four middle reels. Together, that reel setup provides 10,000 ways to win. Winning combinations are usually created when three or more matching symbols line up on consecutive reels starting from the first reel. The exception is the Yellow Dragon symbol, which requires just two or more.
Cascading Reels
Another staple of the 10K series also returns, and that’s a cascading reels mechanic which can generate multiple wins from a single spin. The mechanic removes all winning symbols so more symbols can drop into the action, creating the potential for more paying combos and more cascades.
Merlin’s 10k Ways Slot Bonus Features
Regarding bonus features, Merlin’s 10K Ways keeps things simple with a Bonus Respins game. This game triggers when six or more scatter symbols appear in any position on the reels.

At the start of this feature, all triggering scatter symbols are held in place, and you’re then given three respins. Each time a new scatter symbol lands, the respins are reset to three. Regular scatters will hold a win as a multiplier of your stake between 1x and 100x, while the Special Bonus symbols below hold values of:

- Minor: 50x
- Major: 250x
- Grand: 2,000x
- 10K Bonus Prize: 10,000x
The bonus game continues until you run out of respins or fill all positions with scatter symbols. Either way, you’ll receive the payouts of the symbols landed during the bonus.

Merlin's 10k Ways Slot Review Final Thoughts
I’ve reviewed a few of ReelPlay’s 10K Ways slots, and honestly, I've been disappointed with most of them purely because there’s barely anything that differentiates them. They usually have similar bonus features, mechanics, and, therefore, gameplay. Even if I ignored that and judged Merlin 10k Ways individually, it lacks anything special. That said, it does have a 10,000x max win, so some of you might enjoy attempting to scoop it.
