I hope I get the numbers correct concerning the paytable of Merry Megaways, as the calculation described at the top of the screen in this game is a little difficult to confirm with actual results due to the likelihood of a winning spin resulting in several cascading wins. Santa is the highest paying symbol with a return of 5x your bet for a full payway of six-of-a-kind, followed by Rudolph, who will pay you 4x for all six of his symbols. One of Santa’s elves is next with a return of 30x for a full payway, whilst a candy cane will award you 2.5x the bet for a six-of-a-kind combination. Two more high-paying symbols are represented by a Christmas pudding and a glass of milk and cookies, both of which have a return of 1.2x you’re bet for six-of-a-kind. As for the lower pays, these come in the form of the royal symbols 10, J, Q, K, and Ace and range from 0.4x to 0.6x in value for a six of a kind hit.
The betting range starts at a minimum of €0.10 per round, with a sensible number of steps available as the bet increases to the maximum of €20.00 per spin. So, regardless of your playing budget, there should be something suitable here for you to choose from if you wish to spin for real money.
Base Game & Modifiers
Whilst most other Megaways slots have a maximum playfield size of 6×7 symbols, the grid setup used in Merry Megaways can have eight rows on the four centre reels, including those of the horizontal row. This results in more than 83,000 additional payways, but the game functions identically for the most part.
All of the symbols on the paytable require at least three matching symbols starting from the left to award a win, except the Santa symbol, which pays for just two matching symbols. Winning combinations are immediately removed from the reels after landing to allow new symbols to drop into play, potentially creating a stream of consecutive wins from a single paid spin.
Christmas Crackers
The Christmas cracker symbol is a sticky wild that only appears on the horizontal reel at the top of the screen. Only one Christmas cracker can appear on each spin, but the symbol will not explode when other winning symbols are removed from the reels, allowing them to contribute to multiple winning combinations.

Four or more scatter symbols need to be hit on a single spin to trigger the free spin bonus round. The number of free spins awarded ranges between six and eleven, although larger spins are available via the bonus buy facility.
Free Spins
The free spins feature has several enhancements over the base game, most notably the ascending multiplier, which will increase by 1x each time a winning combination explodes and is removed from the reels.
A new wild is also brought into play during free spins, represented by a Santa’s sack symbol that only appears on the horizontal reel. Every time a sack appears, it will add between two and four additional wilds to the reels in random positions. A maximum of two sacks can appear on a single spin, adding 4-8 wilds to the reels.
If you hit a win on your final free spin, a lucky last spin feature will be triggered, causing an extra free spin to be added to your remaining total. This feature will repeat indefinitely, provided that you continue to win on your next spin.
Bonus Buy
You may purchase a minimum of seven free spins at the cost of 45x the current bet. The price to buy a bonus round does increase quickly, though, with nine free spins costing 150x, whilst 11 free spins cost 300x.
There are two more options with truly eye-watering price tags, but these do at least come with an increased chance of hitting Santa’s sack and Christmas cracker symbols.
If you are willing to pay 400x your bet, you may purchase 15 free spins, whilst 500x your bet gets you a massive 20 free spins. The potential for huge wins in these features is undoubtedly enormous, but the risk you are taking is equally massive – apply caution before choosing to take advantage of the more expensive bonus buy options.
