Mgm Grand Emerald Nights (Push Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

Not content with being one of the biggest brands in brick-and-mortar and online gambling in the United States, MGM Grand has been making calculated moves to become the same across iGaming markets in Europe and other continents in recent years, the biggest of which was acquiring the hugely popular LeoVegas online casino for $607 million in 2022. However, along the way, it was obviously decided MGM wanted some brand-exclusive titles for its shiny new multi-award winning casino platform, so they snapped up Push Gaming for a cool $150 million a year later to provide just that. We’ve already reviewed the first exclusive title, MGM Grand Gamble, but now it is time to take a look at the second – MGM Grand Emerald Nights, which features 5 reels, 3 rows, 20-fixed paylines, a 95.40% RTP, and a 5,000x max win.

If you’ve played the first MGM Grand-inspired slot at LeoVegas, you might expect MGM Grand Emerald Nights to offer similar gameplay, features, and winning potential. However, that is not the case, as these are entirely different slots. This latest release from Push Gaming is a more traditional style slot with fewer features, a lower max win, and more straightforward gameplay. There are instant prizes you can win during the base game and a free spins bonus, while the latter is a bonus that gives you a chance to spin the reels with fewer and even no low-value regular symbols on them.

MGM’s first branded slot, MGM Grand Gamble, was a 5-reel, 6-row, and 50-payline slot with a mouthwatering 50,000x the stake on offer, but players soon realised this was just a clone of the highly popular Big Bamboo slot, so other than the theme there was nothing new on show at all. Things are different this time, though, as we have an original game to review, so let’s get straight into it and find out what cash rewards are on offer over at the pays section.

Ten regular and three special symbols can spin in on the MGM Grand Emerald Nights reels. I’ll get into two of the latter later, but as the Wild Symbol offers the joint top single payout, I’ll get that one out of the way first. It has the power to step in for other symbols if it can play its part in a winning combination and also pays 40x the stake if five line up across a payline. As for the standard game symbols, you’ll receive an identical 40x payout if the Casino-Chip holding Gentleman is part of the same-sized combo. The Wine-sipping Lady is next worth a maximum of 35x, while the Cocktail-Loving Lady returns up to 30x. Medium paying symbols are the Watermelon, Lime, and Plums, which are worth up to 15x, 12.5x, and 10x, respectively, whilst the lowing paying Ace, King, Queen, or Jack low-paying symbols return 4x the stake for five of a kind wins.

Real money players have a broad range of betting options available to them, with the minimum price to play starting at a budget friendly €0.10 a spin, with high rollers having the choice of punting up to a staggering €100 a press.

Mgm Grand Emerald Nights Slot Base Game & Modifiers

All the base game and bonus action on MGM Grand Emerald Nights takes place across a reel setup containing five reels, three rows and 20 fixed paylines. Winning combinations are created once three or more matching symbols are lined up across an active payline, starting from the leftmost reel first.

Emerald Symbols

Active in all aspects of the game is the MGM Grand Emerald instant win feature. To the left of the reels is a ladder showing the prizes you’ll win when at least four of these symbols land anywhere in view on a single spin. As you’ll see, you will win 2x, 5x, 10x, 25, 100x, 1,000x, or 5,000x when you land 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10.

Push Bet

For a 40% higher chance of triggering the Free Spins Bonus, you can spin with the Push Bet feature activated for 20% on top of your current bet.

One main bonus round can be activated, and how many scatter symbols you trigger it with will determine how many spins you start with and whether any low-value symbols are removed from reels.

  • 3 Bonus Scatter Symbols: Gives you 8 free spins.
  • 4 Bonus Scatter Symbols: Gives you 9 free spins & 2 low-value symbols are converted to Emerald symbols.
  • 5 Bonus Scatter Symbols: Gives you 10 free spins & 4 low-value symbols are converted to Emerald symbols.

Free Spins Feature

As the spins play out, any bonus symbols that hit the reels are collected in the low-value symbol collection meter to the left of the reels. Each time you collect four, all instances of one of the low-value symbols are removed from the reels for the duration of the free spins. Furthermore, you receive four free spins after the first four are collected, three for each of the following two sets and two for the final four.

Bonus Buy

For those of you who do not want to wait for the free spins bonus, you’ll be pleased to know that MGM Grand Emerald Nights is a bonus buy slot, and you can use the feature buy to purchase at least three scatter symbols landing on the next spin for 75x your current stake.

Pros

  • Instant prize symbols can be hugely rewarding, with payouts of up to 5,000x the total bet available.

Cons

  • Limited options of where the game can be played.

Mgm Grand Emerald Nights Slot Review Final Thoughts

Push Gaming is usually renowned for creating highly volatile slots that have the potential to pay big multipliers, as many of our visitors are well aware from the hours they spend playing our Razor Shark Returns demo and Wild Swarm 2 free play slots, so to see a game dialled back somewhat will be a surprise for many fans of the provider. However, we have seen similar released titles from Push in the shape of Hearts Highway, and although MGM Grand Emerald Nights is more of a branded slot, it does make you wonder if the studio will now start to add more diversity to its portfolio with less volatile slot games. Time will tell, I guess.
