Money Cart 3 (Relax Gaming) Slot Demo & Review

The ‘Money Cart’ bonus round offered by Relax Gaming’s ‘Money Train’ series of online slots is one of the most exciting (and sometimes lucrative!) features you will find at any online casino. Some players find the standard gameplay of Money Train to be a little dull by comparison and therefore choose to skip it entirely using the game’s bonus buy facility. The trouble is that many players are now prohibited from taking advantage of such features because of rules imposed by their country’s regulators… which is usually where the story ends. Not this time, however!

Relax Gaming’s ingenious new solution to this conundrum is to create an entirely different game consisting of only the Money Cart bonus round, imaginatively titled Money Cart 3. The RTP is now bang-on average at 96%, but it’s the change to the jackpot which is of real concern – the full Money Train game can pay up to 100,000x the total bet, but this version is sadly limited to just 10,000x instead.

Are you a fan of the Money Train games and their Money Cart bonus rounds? And would you prefer to just play the Money Cart feature rather than the main game? If so, this could be your dream game, although I suspect the huge reduction to the jackpot could be a problem for some. Why not take a look for yourself? Money Cart 3 Slot Paytable

The first Money Train game was an immediate smash hit with players, mainly due to its insane bonus round. Relax rushed out an updated sequel – Money Train 2 – which featured a bigger jackpot, an increased RTP, and a whole bunch of new special symbols that were designed to make the Money Cart bonus even more exciting than it was before. The third game was much more of an evolutionary update, and many would say that it more-or-less perfected the Money Train formula – I’m sure the 100,000x jackpot didn’t hurt either! As the name suggests, Money Cart 3 is an implementation of the bonus round from the third game, so it’s fully up to date with all of the newest modifiers and special symbols. I suspect that Relax is mainly targeting players from the United Kingdom with this release, as that’s the largest market affected by a ban on bonus buy features.

There’s no traditional paytable to discuss in Money Cart 3 – the only symbols that land during the standard game are bonus symbols, and those have no cash payout attached to them. Hitting three bonus symbols will trigger the re-spin feature, where the symbols now contain numbers referencing a multiple of the current stake. This will all make perfect sense if you’ve played Money Train 3 already – for everybody else, skip to the next section, where we’ll investigate things in more detail.

The total bet selected in Money Cart 3 will become your coin size used within the re-spin feature. The minimum size permitted is €0.10, whilst the maximum has been set at €100.00. It can sometimes take a few spins before you hit the re-spin feature, so keep that in mind when deciding which coin size to play with

Base Game & Modifiers

Playing Money Cart 3 can be an unusual experience for anybody who doesn’t know what to expect! The game uses a 5×4 reel set, but because this is an implementation of a bonus round from a different game, it plays unlike any other video slot you may have tried before.

There are no payways, paylines, cluster pays, or scatter pays – instead, the aim is first to trigger the re-spin feature and then collect as many stake-multiplying symbols as you possibly can.

Money Cart 3 Slot Bonus Round

The entirety of Money Cart 3 is essentially a bonus round, although you still need to trigger the feature first by hitting three bonus symbols. This usually doesn’t take very long – it’s certainly not as difficult as hitting three scatters in a regular video slot! Once the re-spin feature is triggered, many new symbols can now land on the reels:

  • Collector: Gathers all visible prizes from the screen and adds them to its value.
  • Sniper: Doubles the value of between three and eight existing symbols. Can also act on one symbol several times.
  • Collector/Payer: Selects three to five targets, adds their values to its own, and then pays out its updated value to the previous targets.
  • Necromancer: Brings two to seven previous bonus symbols back to life, such as Snipers, Collectors, Collector/Payers, Tommy Gun Sniper, etc.
  • Absorber: Absorbs the value of all visible symbols before removing them from the reels to create extra slots for new prizes.
  • Tommy Gun Sniper: Targets one random symbol, doubling its value between two and six times.
  • Tommy Gun Payer: Reveals a value of between 5x and 100x the bet before adding that value to a random symbol up to ten times in a row.
  • Shapeshifter: Turns into a different symbol after every spin completes.

All these symbols can also appear as a persistent version which will activate after every remaining spin.

Note that this part of the game is a three-spin feature, meaning every symbol that lands will reset your spin counter back to the initial three you had at the beginning. The re-spins feature will be terminated if three consecutive spins result in no new symbols landing on the reels.

Money Cart 3 Slot Review Final Thoughts

I’m a UK-based player myself, and I’ve often wished I could use the bonus buy facilities offered in many of my favourite online slots. Building a new game around the best bonus features seems like an ingenious solution to this problem, but it’s hard to be fully enthusiastic about the concept when the overall jackpot is slashed to a mere 10% of what was available in the original online slot.

I do commend Relax for trying to find a solution to this problem, and I’ll certainly be giving Money Cart 3 a few spins in the coming weeks – I just really wish it had all the potential of a full-fat Money Train game.
