Game Overview

Hey folks…! The big boys are coming out to play once again, and they’re bringing their very best new toys along with them! Here comes the latest instalment, titled Money Train 3, in Relax Gaming’s hugely popular Money Train franchise; you almost certainly need no introductions, of course, but for those who somehow missed the first two titles in this series, you are going to require some warning. This is the kind of high-variance monster that will empty your bankroll before you have finished breakfast, which isn’t just bluster – it’s a fact backed up by a 100,000x bet jackpot! We’re playing on 40 pay lines as usual, whilst the RTP of 96.50% is plenty generous in my book!

The feature set includes all the old Money Train classics – there’s a re-spin feature, the money cart bonus round, and a feature buy option for those able to take advantage, but as we all know, it’s what’s in the money cart bonus that counts! In short, Relax hasn’t been too adventurous here, but why would they? They already have a winning formula, so a few extra bells and whistles will be more than enough to keep players happy.

We know you are already itching to try this game, so why waste any more time? Our free demo slot of Money Train 3 is available here for your convenience and enjoyment:

The Wild West is a favourite of online slots developers, possibly even before NetEnt’s smash-hit success in Dead or Alive. And why not? It’s been a classic setting for movies and television shows for decades, possibly because it’s a classic story about regular people taking risks and changing their lives in the pursuit of something better. Of course, there’s always an adventure, misfortune, luck, and despair along the way, but that isn’t what games such as Money Train 3 video slot are all about! No, these machines are laser-focused on setting players up to take home a monster of a win every now and again while also ensuring they don’t feel too disappointed after every other session… it’s the same mission every game has, but here it’s done with a near-perfect balance and player impact, which place it on an altogether different level.

There isn’t much to separate this game from its predecessor, Money Train 2, so far – sure, the RTP has been boosted by 0.1%, whilst the steampunk styling feels somewhat more futuristic this time around, but it’s still very much the same game so far. It’s a familiar story on the paytable, too; it seems; the red older guy will award you 20x your bet for a full pay line of five-of-a-kind, followed by the orange man at 10x, the green masked dude at 9x, then the token pretty female with a return of 8x for all five of her symbols. The wild pays the same as the highest-paying regular symbol at 20x for a completed pay line, and although the paytable does not mention it, I suspect there is no additional reward when hitting more than three scatters, either. These things could be a big deal in some slots, but it doesn’t even warrant a mention in 95% of Money Train video slot reviews!

The available wagers in the demo version of this game range between €0.10 and €10.00 per spin, but I suspect there could be bigger bets available when playing for real money. If not, this should still be enough to suit most players.

Base Game & Modifiers

Money Train 3 Slot Base Game

The setup will be instantly familiar to fans of the previous instalments of this series – a 5×4 playfield is used, but rather than five reels of four symbols each, the Money Train 3 slot game opts for 20 individual positions instead.

This arrangement means it is possible to hit a full screen of any symbol – although it would be an amazing stroke of luck to do so! You are much more likely to hit large numbers of matching symbols with a few gaps here and there – think of it as every symbol appears in tall stacks, and the result would be the same.

Respin Modifier

Any losing spin can potentially be rescued by the single base game modifier that is randomly triggered in the base game only. One symbol is chosen to become sticky before all its positions are locked, and the remaining reels are spun free of charge.

If additional matching symbols appear from the re-spin, they will become locked alongside the existing sticky positions, and a further re-spin is awarded. Multiplier symbols can also appear in this mode, with all values that land being added together and applied to the total win after the feature is complete.

Money Train 3 Slot Bonus Features

The money cart has become something of a legend in the online slot circuit ever since the release of the original Money Train game several years ago. All of the triggering scatter symbols will change to reveal a number that represents a multiple of the current stake and award three free spins.

During the money cart feature, any columns that become filled with symbols will spawn an additional column on its right, creating extra space for more prizes and features. This can occur twice in any feature, so there can potentially be up to 7×4 positions on the screen for a total of 28 slots. Several familiar prizes can also fill the slots:

  • Collector: Gathers all visible prizes from the screen and adds them to its value.
  • Sniper: Doubles the value of between three and eight existing symbols. It can also act on one symbol several times.
  • Collector/Payer: Selects three to five targets, adds their values to its own, and then pays out its updated value to the previous targets.
  • Necromancer: Brings two to seven already used bonus symbols back to life, such as Snipers.
  • Absorber: Absorbs the value of all normal bonus symbols before removing them from the reels to create extra slots for new prizes.
  • Tommy Gun Sniper: Targets one random symbol, randomly doubling its value from two to six times.
  • Tommy Gun Payer: Awards a value between 5x and 100x the bet before targeting a random symbol to add its value up to 10 times in a row!

All of these symbols can also appear as a persistent version that will activate after every remaining spin in the current feature instead of just once.

Bonus Buy Feature

You can opt to purchase the regular bonus round for 100x the normal stake or go for a special “persistent feature” at the cost of 500x. The persistent option guarantees one persistent feature will activate at the beginning of the bonus round.

You can also opt for a single-spin feature at 10x your bet or a two-spin feature at 50x – the names are a little misleading, as the one spin feature will continue as long as you keep hitting at least one symbol on each free spin whilst the two spin feature gives you an “extra life” meaning you can afford a single blank spin before disaster strikes!

Pros

  • Huge 100,000x jackpot.
  • Exciting modifiers that can trigger during the bonus round.
  • Different levels of buy-in options on the bonus.

Cons

  • Some players may struggle to hit the premium bonus round if they are unable to utilise the feature buy option in their jurisdiction.

Final Thoughts

I wasn’t sure what was going on at first – wasn’t this just the same as Money Train 2? How foolish I was to be worried, though, Relax has added just enough to the money cart and bonus buy features to make players want to switch to the sequel, just as they did last time. It isn’t as ground-breaking as the first game, but the increased top payout of 100,000x your bet makes that statement meaningless; you are going to want to play this, and when you've finally spun the death out of the reels, you'll just be about ready to move on to Money Train 4 and start all over again.
