Game Overview
The Moon Princess games by Play’N’Go are very similar to their Rise of Olympus line of online slots. I guess you might say that these ones are targeted at their female players, whilst the Olympus games are intended more for male slot fans. Of course, you are free to choose whichever franchise you like best – I quite like the scantily clad princesses in their tiny skirts, personally! Graphics aside, these are very interesting games anyway – they do not use payways or paylines, but they do pay for lines of three, four, or five adjacent matching symbols. As always, be sure your favourite casino is running Moon Princess Trinity at its default RTP of 96.20% for your best chances of hitting the 4,000x bet maximum jackpot!
The feature set hasn’t changed much from the original Moon Princess slot – this is more of an update than a full-blown sequel. Winning combinations are still removed from the playfield immediately, and when this occurs, a wild symbol is added to the reels to aid in your quest to score a further winning combination. So, what’s new? Well, at the start of every spin, you will now notice blue borders surround several positions. Any win that intersects with one or more such positions will gain a multiplier increase of 1x, and the paytable suggests that these multipliers can reach as high as 30x or more. This should mean that the base game is now much more profitable than the original game – it needs to be, too, as the free spins features are no longer available in this update!
I love these games, and adding the multiplier feature to the base game has been extremely enjoyable for me so far – will the novelty wear off quickly? I’ll leave that for you to decide! Check out our free demo slot of Moon Princess Trinity, available to play below!
Moon Princess Trinity Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I’m not entirely sure why the original Moon Princess slot is missing from our archives here at Demoslot, but the game is identical to Rise of Olympus in all but looks. We do have reviews of both Rise of Olympus 100 and Moon Princess 100, two previous updates produced by Play’N’Go, suggesting that these games are popular with slots fans. I can understand why – these are unique slots with innovative features and unusual payout mechanics that only require you to match up adjacent symbols – left-to-right, right-to-left, or straight across the middle – it makes no difference; you still win the same. Personally, I find the art style used in the Moon Princess games much more attractive than that used in the Rise of Olympus games too. The presentation is top-notch, but I am a little disappointed to reveal that the jackpot of 4,000x is a full 1,000x lower than that offered in previous incarnations of the franchise. I guess that’s the price we pay for those glorious multipliers!
A full line of five moon wild symbols awards 5x the total bet, whilst the three moon princesses all share identical returns of 3x your stake for a full set of five of a kind. A mixed set of any five moon princesses will still pay you 2x the total bet, too, making it much easier to clear a large number of these symbols from the playfield. This is particularly important in this game, and we’ll discuss it shortly. Finally, four more low-paying symbols are represented by various lucky charms, and all of these return 1x the total bet for any five adjacent matching symbols.
Play’N’Go has included their usual quick bet bar along the bottom of the reels, which is another feature I really appreciate as it lets you jump around various bet sizes on a whim. There’s no better feeling than playing a single spin at 5x your regular bet and hitting a bonus round! The minimum/maximum permitted wagers have been set at €0.10 and €100.00, respectively.
Base Game & Modifiers
I’m not entirely sure how you categorise a game such as this – it’s definitely not a typical video slot, but it’s not quite a grid slot, either. Whenever a winning combination is removed from the reels, a wild symbol will be added to one of the vacated positions.
One change – and a definite improvement – which I have now noticed – is that a wild is created for a four-symbol win. In the original Moon Princess, wilds were only created for three or five symbol wins. Also, as mentioned earlier, every winning combination removed from play increases the current round multiplier by 1x.
Girl Power Modifiers
These three modifiers can activate on any non-winning spin:
- Love: Converts one set of low-paying symbols into princess symbols.
- Star: Gifts one or two wild symbols in random positions.
- Storm: Removes two sets of low-paying symbols from the playfield.
Moon Princess Trinity Slot Bonus Features
The free spin bonus rounds have been removed from Moon Princess Twilight in place of the multiplier feature, but the star meter and corresponding modifiers are much more valuable to compensate for this:
Star Meter
The star meter is displayed to the left of the main reel set. A win featuring three princesses will fill one section of the meter, whilst four or five princesses will fill two or three sections, respectively.
If the meter is filled, a free re-spin is awarded where all three girl power modifiers will activate one after another, giving you the best chance to clear the entire playfield. If this occurs, another re-spin is awarded, and the current round multiplier will not be reset between spins! Clearing the playfield also awards a bonus payout of 50x the total bet.
Moon Princess Trinity Slot Review Final Thoughts
The new multiplier feature is excellent, but I don’t see why the free spins could not have been left in too! The drop in the maximum jackpot down to 4,000x is another disappointment, yet I still think I like this version better! What can I say, I’m a sucker for a big multiplier feature! Who knows, though – perhaps I’ll be back to playing the original in a few weeks.
