Game Overview
If you could mix up a potion to do something, what would it be? Instantly take away a hangover? Give you ripped muscles? Give you pro golfing skills? Personally, I’d like a potion that made me 21 again so I can go back to being a lad, knowing what I know now. As you’ve probably figured out, we’re talking about potions because my latest slot review is of Mystic Potion from PGSoft, a 6×6 cluster pays slot with a 10,000x max win and a 96.73% RTP.
What has PG Soft concocted this time around? Well, there are symbol cascades, which can bring multiple wins from a single spin, and then there are giant symbols that can form to deliver win multipliers of up to 500x. Aside from those, there’s a free spins bonus that combines both, although this time, the multiplier will not reset at the start of the next spin.
I’ll take you through the above features and the slot’s gameplay in more detail throughout this review, but if you’re the impatient type, you can just jump into the Mystic Potion slot demo below instead of reading.
Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Alchemy is not among the most common slot themes, but there have still been quite a few titles that have been themed around potions, wizards, spells, and all that malarky. In terms of cluster pays slots like this one, the most successful has to be Play’n Go’s Sweet Alchemy 2, a slot, also like this one, that has a 10,000x the stake maximum win. However, that slot stands out due to its huge 9×9 gaming grid that can be achieved by destroying chocolate blocker symbols.
Next, we’re looking at the symbols on Mystic Potion, and the Red Potion tops the pay charts with a 50x the stake win for 20+ combinations. That’s followed by the Pink Potion at 25x, the Blue Potion that can return up to 12.5x, and the Green Potion with a max payout of up to 10x. The Hearts, Spades, Diamonds, and Clubs playing card suits represent the lower value symbols, and all return a maximum of 5x the stake. You’ll also come across a wild symbol that can help create winning combos by substituting for all of the above.
Last of all, we’re ending with the possible betting options on Mystic Potion. High rollers are sure to appreciate the large maximum betting limit of €180.00 per spin, while those with smaller bankrolls can bet as low as €0.20 per spin.
Base Game & Modifiers
Mystic Potion offers a 6×6 gaming grid and there are no paylines. The slot instead uses a cluster pays mechanic to calculate wins. Five or more symbols must be connected horizontally or vertically for wins to come your way.
Winning symbols vanish from the playfield via cascading reels, and more fall into the vacated positions. That can create additional winning combinations from the same spin. The process continues until no more combos are created.
Big Symbol Multipliers
If four matching symbols are grouped together in a square shape, they will transform into a giant 4×4 symbol with a random multiplier between 2x and 500x. That multiplier is collected at the bottom of the screen and will apply to the total win from the spin.
Mystic Potion Slot Bonus Features
The main bonus feature on the Mystic Potion slot is a free spins bonus with a progressive win multiplier. To trigger the bonus, you must land three or more scatter symbols in the base game.
Free Spins Feature
You receive 15 free spins for the initial three scatter symbols required and an additional 2 for any extra scatter symbols that landed on the triggering spin. The multipliers collected from the big symbols are now collected in the meter below the reels as usual, but now that multiplier remains persistent and does not reset between spins.
Pros
- High RTP.
- Utilises the popular cluster pays mechanic.
Cons
- The theme might not be ideal for some.
Mystic Potion Slot Review Final Thoughts
It’s been a while since I’ve had a cluster pays slot land in my ‘to review’ tray, but it's nice to see something other than a scatter pays slot for once. Mystic Potion is pretty good, too, although I feel it lacks something to allow it to stand out. Progressive multipliers are fine, and I like how PG Soft has gone with big symbols to create and build them, but I still feel the slot is missing something else as the icing on the cake.
