Game Overview
The bright neon lights of Japan await your arrival, with potentially massive prizes to be won in the Neko Night Dream Drop slot from provider Relax Gaming. Spin across a 5×4 reel set with 1,024 paylines in play and an RTP of 93.89%. Along with a maximum win of 20,000x bet, players can trigger the Dream Drop Jackpot feature and win one of 5 progressive pots.
As well as having a pretty slick design, this title has some features you’re likely to enjoy. We’ve already mentioned the Dream Drop bonus, but you’ll also find the Neko Respin feature active in the base game, which can build up big multipliers over the centre 3 reels. There’s more, too, with a free spins round activated when 3 scatters are collected. The feature incorporates the Neko Respins into it, but this time the multiplier values won’t reset between losing spins.
Join us on this Asian experience as we take a more detailed look at the game below in our full review. Try all of the features out for yourself if you wish in the free demo slot of Neko Night Dream Drop that is also included in our article.
Neko Night Dream Drop Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
Japan is one of those countries that strikes you as being fascinating, and I would love to spend a good chunk of time there in the future. To date, my only experiences in the country were a stopover for 24 hours after flying into Narita airport from New Zealand. I did one night in a hotel there and had a bit of a look around and was always eager to go back. Damn, that reminds me; there’s a picture of me in a kimono doing the rounds somewhere; I should probably try and find that sharpish. Back to the game in hand though, and Relax Gaming’s Neko Night Dream Drop plonks us in the centre of a city, so let’s assume that’s Tokyo. Above the game’s reels, you will notice that there are 3 cats. If you didn’t know, Neko is the Japanese word for cat, and in their folklore, cats have protective powers and symbolise good luck and fortune. Now that I’ve educated you with that little nugget of information let’s move on to the pays section of the game.
Time to dissect the paytable then, and upon entering it, I can’t say I was overly surprised to see that the lower value symbols are represented by the royal cards J, Q, K, and Ace. Moving on to the premium symbols, we have the origami swan, perfume bottle, sushi, daruma doll, and girl, with these paying 4x, 6x, 8x, 15x, and 20x, respectively, for a 5 of a kind hit. The koi fish is the wild in the game and does not carry a monetary value. However, it will substitute for all regular symbols and can contain a multiplier value, which we will discuss in the following section.
Indulging in some real money play on Neko Night Dream Drop will cost you as little as €0.10 a spin, with the maximum stake on the slot coming in at €100. The return to player percentage comes in at 93.89%, which in all honesty, is a little bit low, but not a million miles away from the other slots within the Dream Drop slot series.
Base Game & Modifiers
Set to the backdrop of the bright lights of Japan, you’ll get to play across a 5×4 reel set on Neko Night Dream Drop. Over this reel configuration, you will find 1,024 paylines in place, with wins awarded when 3 or more matching symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from the leftmost reel first.
Neko Respin Feature
Wild symbols will appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 only. When these land in view, the cat on the reel above them will eat the wild, award a respin, and increase the wild multiplier value on that reel by x1. If a wild lands on the next spin across any of the centre 3 reels, the process will continue again. The respins will end when you fail to land a new wild in view, with the multipliers then resetting back to their start value of x1.
The idea scenario during the respins is that you fill the Scatter Meter located to the left hand side of the reels; if during any series of respins you collect 3 of these scatters, then 8 free spins will be awarded all cat multiplier values will be carried on over into the free spins.
Dream Drop Feature
Randomly during your play in the base game, a qualifying jackpot spin may be triggered. This will take you to a separate set of reels where landing a DD Symbol on all five reels will take you to the Dream Drop Jackpot part of the slot. If you manage to qualify, you will be taken to another set of reels, where filling any of the 5 columns with DD symbols to the top will award you the corresponding jackpot of the Rapid, Midi, Maxi, Major, or Mega.
Neko Night Dream Drop Slot Free Spins Feature
In addition to being able to trigger the free spins bonus through the respins feature, it is also possible for 3 scatters to land in view by themselves on any spin. Regardless of how the bonus is activated, 8 free spins will be awarded for you to begin with. Once the feature gets under way, the most significant difference you will notice is that the multiplier values do not reset above the reels once your Neko Respins come to an end. If you are lucky, this means that you’re able to build up some significant multipliers, which can result in some pretty hefty wins and get you closer to that max win of 20,000x. Keep a look out for the scatter symbols again landing in view whilst the feature is active. Each one that appears will award you 1 extra spin.
Neko Night Dream Drop Slot Review Final Thoughts
You have to take your hat off to the design team at Relax Gaming when it comes to the creation of their slots. Time and time again, they deliver outstanding graphics and fantastic gameplay across any device that you play their titles on. I have to say I enjoyed the Neko Night Dream Drop theme too, and the only thing that let the slot down for me was how insanely volatile it seemed to be. Of course, much of this is down to the game predominantly being a jackpot slot, so a lot of the RTP has been tucked away and saved for that, so if a normal version of this slot does appear, I’d likely play that and enjoy it a whole lot more.
