The theme used in the Of Sabers & Monsters video slot is a unique one; referring back to Yggdrasil’s own description of the game, we are to get ready to unsheathe our swords and prepare for battle, joining brave Cossacks on an adventure across thousands of (pay) ways! Don’t expect much from the paytable, I’m afraid – this is a 4,096 payway game with stacked symbols on all reels, so you are hoping to win on a large number of paylines simultaneously rather than just one huge-scoring single combination. Then, the red Cossack only has a return of 3x your bet for a full pay way of five-of-a-kind, and he is the biggest hit on the table! The purple Cossack drops to 2.5x for pay way, whilst the green and blue male/female pairing both have a return of 2x for five-of-a-kind. After this, you have the four playing card royal symbols with payouts in the region of 1x, and there are no payouts for either the scatter or wild symbols.

Base Game & Modifiers
The base game uses a 6×4 playfield and looks great, although I think that the level of detail drawn on these symbols is much better suited to larger screen sizes rather than a smartphone display. As a payways game, all you need to do is catch three matching symbols from left to right on adjacent reels, but you’ll want to get a stack or two of matching symbols in there to multiply your winnings up to something reasonable – a single pay way paying just 3x your bet is unlikely to excite too many players.
Focus Points
During the base game, all four heroes have a focus meter that is filled by hitting winning combinations that feature their symbol. Each three-of-a-kind win will add a single point to the hero’s meter, whilst two points are awarded for a four-of-a-kind win, three for a five-of-a-kind, or five points for the maximum six-of-a-kind wins.
Ardent Respins
When a hero’s meter is filled, the hero will enter Ardent mode (meaning that they will always win their fights), and the Ardent Respin feature will begin.
