Game Overview
Mount Olympus, The legendary home of the 12 Greek Gods. It’s the highest mountain in Greece and on the border between Thessaly and Macedonia. It’s also a particular favourite amongst online slot developers – especially iSoftBet, who like to create at least one more game based around this mystical location every month, as far as I can tell! Today’s entry is named Olympus Raging Megaways, a Dual Megaways game – now there’s a new one! That makes for a total of 235,298 Megaways, a 96.07% RTP, and a maximum jackpot of 25,000x the total bet.
The two reel sets are dubbed the Zeus reel set, and the Hades reel set, and whilst both share identically paying sets of regular symbols, one contains scatter symbols for triggering a bonus round, whilst the other has wilds instead. The Wheel of Kronos feature is divided between both reel sets, and every coin you uncover will fill the meter located between the two sets of reels. This can be extremely profitable, as every time you fill the meter, you’ll be given a spin on the legendary wheel of Kronos, where you’ll get a chance to win cash rewards of up to 1,000x. Any matching symbols duplicated on both reel sets will cause both sets of symbols to become wilds. There are also base game modifiers and two separate free spin modes to look forward to. Oh, and what would an iSoftBet game be without a bonus buy facility to look forward to as well? It’s all here folks!
So, who’s your pick of the, err, definitely not imaginary gods of Olympus? Zeus or Hades? Why not have both and try them out in our free demo slot of Olympus Rising Megaways? It’s available below.
Olympus Raging Megaways Slot Theme, Stakes, Pays & Symbols
I feel like we’ve talked an awful lot about Olympus in the past already, so let’s just stick to talking about other games based on Olympus today! Where better place to start than iSoftBet’s own Olympus Hades Megaways and Olympus Zeus Megaways? These games make it incredibly easy to see where Olympus Raging Megaways came from – it’s a definite blend of the two previous games and works rather well. Of course, search for Olympus in our review library and you’ll also find many other high-quality releases from developers such as Play’N’Go, Blueprint, Playtech, and the like. Still, for my money, I’d say that iSoftBet have this particular category all about sown up!
Hades & Zeus make predictable appearances as the highest-paying symbols, each awarding 25x the total bet for a full payway of six of a kind. The second-place spot goes to Pegasus on one side and Cerberus on the other, both of whom offer returns of 2x for all six symbols. These are followed by a lion and Medusa, who seem to have gotten a bit of a raw deal with their equal payouts of just 1x for a complete payway – I mean, a mediocre harp or jug will get you just the same payout! Finally, the royal symbols have quite a range to them – six nines will get you just 0.4x the total bet, whilst six aces are a lot more valuable at a tad under 0.9x for all six symbols.
As for the betting range, this is done in the usual way for iSoftBet games which means choosing a coin size between a penny and, in this case, two Euros, resulting in minimum/maximum bets of €0.40 and €40.00 per spin, respectively. Perhaps this could turn out to be a little rich for some players, but you must remember that you are spinning with two sets of reels in play.
Base Game & Modifiers
Every spin on Olympus Raging Megaways is, in fact, played on two independent reel sets, and this is why the price per spin is double that of the previous Olympus Hades and Zeus Megaways games. Other than that, the modifiers are the same, you’ll need the same minimum of at least three matching symbols to hit a win (other than the highest-paying symbols, which have a small payout for just two matches), but there is one significant new addition – the Wheel of Kronos.
Max Megaways
No surprises for guessing what this one does – randomly, at the start of any spin, this modifier can kick in and force both reel sets to drop in the maximum of 117,649 possible payways.
Wheel Of Kronos
Kronos has hidden golden coins underneath random symbols on the reel strips! If you can find 12 of these, you will get a shot at spinning his wheel of fortune, which can contain awards of MINI (10x), MAXI (50x), or GRAND (100x). Note that all of these prizes can be further modified by an additional 2x, 3x, or 5x. The multiplier will also be applied to any winnings earned from the spin that triggered the feature as well.
Olympus Raging Megaways Slot Bonus Features
Each set of reels contains its own set of scatter symbols, although confusingly, the paytable does mention earlier on that the Hades set contains wilds instead of scatters – perhaps an error that will be corrected in a later update? Either way, hitting four or more of either type of scatter will trigger 12 free spins, with five or six scatters awarding 17 or 22 free spins, respectively.
Zeus Free Spins
In this mode, only the Zeus reel set is active. An unlimited win multiplier, starting at 1x, is active for the duration of the feature. After every cascading win, the multiplier is increased by 1x. The new multiplier will apply to the next Zeus free spins win, whether from a fresh cascade or a later Zeus free spin. You can re-trigger five additional free spins by hitting three more scatter symbols or a full set of ten should all four possible scatters fill the entire horizontal row.
Hades Free Spins
Somewhat disappointingly, there appears to be no difference between the Hades free spins and the Zeus free spins. Personally, I think this is a missed opportunity, but ultimately, it is what it is.
Battle Free Spins
Battle scatters appear on both sets of reels, and hitting four of these between either set will trigger 15 battle free spins. Both reel sets are active during the battle spins, and only four more battle scatters are needed to re-trigger a full five free additional spins.
Bonus Buy
Not impressed with the base game? The Zeus and Hades free spin modes can be purchased for 75x the normal price per spin, whilst the battle spins cost a lot more at 250x the normal price per spin.
Olympus Raging Megaways Slot Review Final Thoughts
Another solid release from iSoftBet, but it doesn’t offer much over the two previous games – I could have sent them a list of features that would have really spiced things up. Perhaps they need a technical advisor? Does anyone else think the same? Anyway, enjoy our demo and see what you make of the game yourself.
